Dear Sacred Heart Families,

It is hard to know where the year has gone. These last couple of months in particular have been fast and furious. There are so many wonderful upcoming things to celebrate and look forward to that they are easy to miss in the hustle of the end of school. Please check your email and our social media accounts frequently to stay up-to-date. I also ask that, as we wind up the school year, you continue to keep our students, families, and staff in your prayers.

We had a fantastic turnout for our Hall of Fame activities last weekend. It was remarkable to see the filled pews at St. Pat’s, shoulder to shoulder with attendees and guests. Our honorees and guests alike had a great time reminiscing and sharing about their time at Sacred Heart. I heard lots of stories about how “spirited” our baseball inductees, in particular, were in their time here. Celebrating those players, the Simons, Turners, Terry Smith, and Louise Rouchka seemed like a great way to finish our school year. These folks have given their time and talents in countless ways to our school, and we are forever grateful for their commitment to its longevity!

This week, our junior and senior high school students started picking out their schedules for next year. Sophomores and freshmen will be next. We are excited about the options in front of them and some new additions to our class list for next year. Ask your student what they are taking and encourage them to turn their schedules in to Mrs. Tippie as soon as possible.

Good luck to our Speech Team, who will be competing in the state speech competition this weekend. Good luck, Gremlins!

Senior Spotlight

Andrea G.
Andrea is heading to Columbia College in the fall!  Andrea plans to major in Tourism and Hospitality.  She is looking forward to meeting new friends, having new experiences, and being more independent.  She is going to miss her parents and best-friend, Camila the most.  Andrea is very proud of her long friendship with Camila, whom she met in 1st grade at SH.  We will miss you, Andrea!

Emilee J.
Emilee is excited to announce that she is heading to Rockhurst University in the fall!  She plans to major in nursing with a goal of becoming a CRNA in the future.  Emilee is looking forward to learning about nursing, rooming with Ebrinn, and being in Kansas City!  She will miss her family the most and plans to come home often to see them.  She will also miss all of her friends at SH, playing sports, and being involved in so many activities at school.  She is most proud of the clubs and extracurricular activities she is apart of.  She will never forget all the memories she has made with her friends and the bonds she made with the underclassmen through sports.  We wish you all the best, Emilee!

Max V.
Max is excited to announce that he will be heading to Omaha, Nebraska to attend Creighton University in the fall!  Max will be majoring in Business.  He is looking forward to meeting new people and learning about different business opportunities the most.  Max is going to miss the SH community and church, and his siblings the most.  Max is most proud of winning the conference basketball tournament his junior year.  We are all so proud of you, Max!  Good luck!

Olivia J.
Olivia will be heading north to Northwest Missouri State University in the fall!  Olivia plans to study Occupational Therapy in college.  She is looking forward to meeting new people and joining groups and clubs while she is at NMSU.  Olivia will miss the close family here at SH, seeing her mom and step-dad everyday, and eating her step-dad’s cooking the most.  She says his grilled steak is amazing!  Olivia’s fondest memory of SH is when she was a new student as a freshman in high school and everyone was so welcoming and kind to her.  We are going to miss you, Olivia!  You will do great things!

Rotary Awards
Two Sacred Heart seniors were honored on Monday at the Sedalia Rotary Club! Out of 500+ seniors in Pettis County, Thomas J. was selected as a candidate for the Leon Moore Scholarship, and Logan H. was named the Pettis County Most Outstanding Student. Both were recognized and received scholarship awards. God has blessed you with so many talents—congratulations, Thomas and Logan!

Paid Dress Down Day Results
Thanks for supporting Embassy House. Together we raised over $385. Our next Dress Down Day is coming up on May 6 and will benefit Mercy Services United.

Athletes as Disciples
Our baseball team had a special “Athletes as Disciples” moment during their games against Green Ridge and LaMonte. Both teams came together on the mound for prayer, showing that faith and sports go hand in hand. After the games, the teams continued the fellowship by enjoying a meal. A special thank you to Dairy Queen for generously providing the meals! What a great example of sportsmanship, faith, and community.

Estimadas familias de Sagrado Corazón,

Es difícil creer lo rápido que ha pasado el año. Estos últimos meses, en particular, han transcurrido a un ritmo vertiginoso. Hay tantos acontecimientos maravillosos por celebrar y esperar con ilusión que resulta fácil pasarlos por alto en medio del ajetreo propio del cierre del ciclo escolar. Les rogamos que revisen con frecuencia su correo electrónico y nuestras cuentas en las redes sociales para mantenerse al día. Asimismo, les pido que, a medida que nos acercamos a la conclusión del año escolar, continúen teniendo presentes en sus oraciones a nuestros estudiantes, familias y personal.

Tuvimos una asistencia fantástica a las actividades de nuestro Salón de la Fama el fin de semana pasado. Fue extraordinario ver los bancas de la iglesia de St. Patricio repletos, con asistentes e invitados sentados hombro con hombro. Tanto nuestros homenajeados como los invitados disfrutaron muchísimo rememorando y compartiendo anécdotas sobre su paso por Sagrado Corazon. Escuché muchísimas historias sobre lo “enérgicos” que eran nuestros miembros del Salón de la Fama del béisbol —en particular— durante su estancia aquí. Celebrar a esos jugadores —los Simons, los Turners, Terry Smith y Louise Rouchka— pareció una manera magnífica de cerrar nuestro año escolar. Estas personas han dedicado su tiempo y sus talentos a nuestra escuela de innumerables formas, ¡y les estaremos eternamente agradecidos por su compromiso con la perdurabilidad de la institución!

Esta semana, nuestros estudiantes de secundaria y preparatoria comenzaron a seleccionar sus horarios de clases para el próximo año. Los estudiantes de segundo y primer año serán los siguientes. Estamos entusiasmados con las opciones que tienen ante sí y con algunas de las nuevas incorporaciones a nuestra oferta académica para el próximo curso. Pregúntenle a su hijo o hija qué materias ha elegido y anímenlo a entregar su horario a la Sra. Tippie lo antes posible.

¡Mucha suerte a nuestro Equipo de Oratoria, que competirá en la competencia estatal de oratoria este fin de semana! ¡Buena suerte, Gremlins!

Andrea G.
¡Andrea se dirige a Columbia College este otoño! Andrea planea especializarse en Turismo y Hospitalidad. Tiene muchas ganas de hacer nuevos amigos, vivir nuevas experiencias y ser más independiente. ¡Emilee se complace en anunciar que, este otoño, se dirigirá a la Universidad Rockhurst! Tiene previsto especializarse en enfermería, con el objetivo de convertirse en CRNA en el futuro. ¡Emilee está deseando aprender sobre enfermería, compartir habitación con Ebrinn y vivir en Kansas City! Lo que más extrañará será a su familia, por lo que planea volver a casa con frecuencia para visitarlos. También extrañará a todos sus amigos de SH, la práctica de deportes y su participación en tantas actividades escolares. De lo que más orgullosa se siente es de los clubes y actividades extracurriculares de los que formó parte. Max V.

Olivia J.
¡Olivia se dirigirá al norte, hacia Northwest Missouri State University, este otoño! Olivia planea estudiar Terapia Ocupacional en la universidad. Tiene muchas ganas de conocer gente nueva y de unirse a grupos y clubes durante su estancia en NMSU. Lo que más extrañará Olivia será la gran familia que tiene aquí en SH, ver a su mamá y a su padrastro todos los días, y, sobre todo, disfrutar de la cocina de su padrastro. ¡Dice que su bistec a la parrilla es increíble! El recuerdo más grato que Olivia guarda de SH es de cuando era una estudiante recién llegada, en su primer año de preparatoria, y todos fueron tan acogedores y amables con ella. ¡Te vamos a extrañar, Olivia! ¡Harás grandes cosas!

Premios del Rotary Club
¡Dos seniors de Sagrado Corazón fueron homenajeados este lunes en el Rotary Club de Sedalia! De entre más de 500 seniors en el condado de Pettis, Thomas J. fue seleccionado como candidato para la Beca Leon Moore, y Logan H. fue nombrado el Estudiante Más Destacado del condado de Pettis. Ambos recibieron un reconocimiento y recibieron becas. Dios los ha bendecido con muchísimos talentos: ¡Felicidades, Thomas  y Logan!
