Welcome Back, Gremlins!
It is good to have everyone back in the building. Our halls are full again, and I couldn’t be more pleased to start this year with your students. We have a lot to look forward to this year. Our time together will go quickly, but I am looking forward to all of the growth and learning we will have in our 25-26 school year. Our PreK-12 theology and religion classes are excited about sharing the responsibility of praying for vocations with our parish. Our students will be responsible for passing the Vocations Prayer Box among classes and, as a class, praying for a robust “yes” to God’s call for married, single, religious, and priests. Let’s all pray that we hear and listen to who God calls us to be!
We are also partnering with our parish’s Social Concerns Committee to align our service projects with our church community. Since we are one community, we will be focusing our efforts together to make the biggest impact for our efforts. Our school will be celebrating Mary’s birthday on September 8th, and as a way to celebrate, we will be treating our students to cake that day! As a way to spread the love of our Mother Mary to the rest of our community, we are asking your family to consider donating items to “Birthday Blessings”. This organization works to provide birthday items for children in foster care. Our parish will be working to help provide gifts for these children, and we thought our school community could provide birthday cake supplies such as cake mixes, disposable aluminum pans, icing, sprinkles, etc. You may start sending these items into school starting Tuesday, September 2nd and please have all donations turned in by lease return all donations by September 8th. Thank you!
This year, we are giving each Catholic student at Sacred Heart School and public school child enrolled in PSR and Confirmation a set of offertory envelopes to use when they attend weekend Masses. Encourage them to start sacrificial giving early! It is not the amount that we are focusing on, but the service of giving that we are hoping children learn early and build as a habit for their whole life. Thank you for your support with this.
Our Bazaar Dinner Auction and Golf Tournament are right around the corner! Both of these fun-filled events directly benefit our school, so please participate however you can. Look for the QR codes in the Bazaar graphic to find the direct links to donate items or to purchase tickets for the auction. Get a team together and enjoy a day of fun and fellowship at the Sedalia Country Club, or sponsor a hole! The committee would love to hear from you either way. The Bazaar Dinner Auction and the Golf Tournament have become some of the most highly anticipated social and philanthropic events in our Gremlin Community. Your support is key to our success!

Mass of the Holy Spirit
On 26th August 2025, we had the blessing Mass at the commencement of an academic year in our Catholic School, which we called the Mass of the Holy Spirit. We prayed for the Holy Spirit to guide, lift, and inspire us. In the Gospel of John 14:23-25, Jesus speaks of the gift of the Holy Spirit, who will “teach you all things and remind you of everything that I have said.
We prayed for the gifts of the Holy Spirit; Knowledge, wisdom, understanding, council, fortitude, piety and fear of the Lord. Cognizant of our call as children of God, when we receive the Holy Spirit, we bear gifts of peace, joy, love, happiness, courage, among others. We pray we are witnesses of the Holy Spirit through those gifts
Jesus processed through the entire school, visiting our classes and different places where the work of our hands finds meaning every day. The procession was meant to testify that we, as members of the Sacred Heart shall and will always delight in the Lord every day, as the heart and center of everything we do. We prayed for all stakeholders, including our dear parents and sponsors to be protected, guided and provided for by the hands of the Almighty God.
As we begin this new year of formation, what are our hopes, goals and fears? A deeper life of prayer, clarity in discernment. improved academic performance, love for the poor, knowledge of self among others. In that Mass, we invoked the Holy Spirit not only to help us attain our goals and to overcome our fears, but indeed to keep us focused on the one thing that matter most, persevering in both happiness and sorrows
XLT (EXULT) Adoration
We had a precious moment in the presence of the Lord all together in the gym, to praise and worship Him who is the ultimate treasure of our being, with spiritual cool music in the background, in the blessed Sacrament. It is exposed during adoration to provide the faithful with the opportunity to worship and pray directly before Christ, acknowledging His true presence. This act of adoration deepens one’s personal relationship with Jesus, allowing us to spend time in His presence, reflect on His love and sacrifice, and experience spiritual renewal. The catechism of the Catholic Church tells the beautiful short story of St. John Vianney who was amazed that one of his parishioners would spend such long hours in front of Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament. He said to him, “What do you do in adoration?” The man simply responded, “I look at Him and He looks at me.
Athletes as Disciples
On September 8th, we shall have Adoration Under the Stars; soccer game athletes as disciples, and shall have adoration thereafter, to crown all our activities in Jesus’s embrace, in whom our earthly activities will find the absolute fullness eternally. Let us all look forward to it, to spend that precious moment in His embrace.

In response to the growing marketing and advancement needs, Sacred Heart School and the Sacred Heart Foundation are thrilled to name Katelin (Beykirch) Hladik ‘02, as Marketing & Event Manager for Sacred Heart School and the Sacred Heart Foundation.
Katelin earned degrees in Marketing and Organizational Communications from Creighton University in Omaha, NE, and has applied her talents in the medical staffing and insurance fields. Most recently, she served as Director of Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Media Manager for County Distributing. Since returning to Sedalia in 2016, Katelin has been a dynamic, high-performing presence at both SHS and St. Vincent de Paul Parish. As past Chair of the Bazaar Dinner Auction for four years, Katelin implemented transformational change that nearly doubled revenue and attendance, making it the highly anticipated event that it is today. Beyond campus, you’ll often see her and her husband, Bob, cheering on their children: RJ (sophomore), Cooper (freshman), and Millie (4th grade).
We are grateful for her commitment and look forward to the many ways she will help move our school and foundation forward. Katelin’s first day with us will be Tuesday, Sept 2. Please help us welcome her to her new role at SHS!

School Cafeteria
We are blessed to have a school cafeteria that students can utilize every school day. We encourage your students to eat the school-provided lunch. Sacred Heart School has a CLOSED lunch hour, which means students are NOT allowed to bring in fast food or have fast food delivered to the school for lunch consumption. We provide a hot lunch for all students who request it daily. FACTS Family Portal is used to track all lunch charges and the overall balance for each student’s account.

It’s not too late to sign-up to have your picture taken for our church pictorial directory! Universal Church Directory will be here September 10-13 AND September 30 in the basement of St. Patrick Chapel to take pictures. If you had to cancel your initial appointment or forgot to sign up, take advantage of this additional day of photography. Don’t forget you’ll receive a FREE 8×10 just for having your picture taken! ¡Bienvenidos de nuevo, Gremlins!
¡Es bueno tenerlos a todos de vuelta en el edificio! Nuestros pasillos están llenos de nuevo y estoy muy contenta de comenzar este año con sus estudiantes. Tenemos muchas expectativas para este año. El tiempo juntos pasará rápido, pero espero con ansias todo el crecimiento y aprendizaje que tendremos en nuestro año escolar 25-26. Nuestras clases de teología y religión de PreK-12 están entusiasmadas por compartir la responsabilidad de orar por las vocaciones con nuestra parroquia. Nuestros estudiantes serán responsables de pasar la Caja de Oración por las Vocaciones entre las clases y, como clase, orar por un “sí” firme al llamado de Dios para casados, solteros, religiosos y sacerdotes. ¡Oremos todos para escuchar y escuchar a quienes Dios nos llama a ser!
También nos estamos asociando con el Comité de Asuntos Sociales de nuestra parroquia para alinear nuestros proyectos de servicio con la comunidad de nuestra iglesia. Como somos una sola comunidad, uniremos esfuerzos para lograr el mayor impacto posible. Nuestra escuela celebrará el cumpleaños de María el 8 de septiembre y, para celebrarlo, ¡les haremos un pastel a nuestros alumnos ese día! Para compartir el amor de nuestra Madre María con el resto de nuestra comunidad, les pedimos a sus familias que consideren donar artículos a “Birthday Blessings”. Esta organización trabaja para proporcionar artículos de cumpleaños a niños en foster care. Nuestra parroquia trabajará para ayudar a proporcionar regalos a estos niños, y pensamos que nuestra comunidad escolar podría proporcionar suministros para pasteles de cumpleaños, como mezclas para pastel, moldes de aluminio desechables, glaseado, chispas, etc. Pueden comenzar a enviar estos artículos a la escuela a partir del martes, 2 de septiembre y, por favor, entreguen todas las donaciones antes del 8 de septiembre. ¡Gracias!

Misa del Espíritu Santo
El 26 de agosto de 2025, celebramos la Misa de bendición de inicio de curso en nuestra escuela Católica, a la que llamamos la Misa del Espíritu Santo. Oramos para que el Espíritu Santo nos guiara, nos levantara y nos inspirara. En el Evangelio de Juan 14:23-25, Jesús habla del don del Espíritu Santo, quien les enseñará todas las cosas y les recordará todo lo que les he dicho.
Oramos por los dones del Espíritu Santo: conocimiento, sabiduría, entendimiento, consejo, fortaleza, piedad y temor de Dios. Conscientes de nuestro llamado como hijos de Dios, al recibir el Espíritu Santo, portamos dones de paz, alegría, amor, felicidad y valentía, entre otros. Oramos para ser testigos del Espíritu Santo a través de estos dones.
Jesús recorrió toda la escuela, visitando nuestras clases y diferentes lugares donde el trabajo de nuestras manos encuentra significado cada día. La procesión pretendía testificar que nosotros, como miembros del Sagrado Corazón, nos deleitaremos y siempre nos deleitaremos en el Señor cada día, como el corazón y centro de todo lo que hacemos. Oramos por todos los involucrados, incluyendo a nuestros queridos padres y padrinos, para que sean protegidos, guiados y provistos por las manos del Dios Todopoderoso.
Al comenzar este nuevo año de formación, ¿cuáles son nuestras esperanzas, metas y temores? Una vida de oración más profunda, claridad en el discernimiento, mejor rendimiento académico, amor por los pobres, conocimiento de uno mismo, entre otros. En esa misa, invocamos al Espíritu Santo no solo para que nos ayudara a alcanzar nuestras metas y superar nuestros miedos, sino también para que nos mantuviera enfocados en lo más importante, perseverando tanto en la felicidad como en las tristezas.
XLT (EXULT) Adoración
Tuvimos un momento precioso en la presencia del Señor, todos juntos en el gimnasio, para alabar y adorar a Aquel que es el tesoro supremo de nuestro ser, con música espiritual de fondo, en el Santísimo Sacramento. Esta música se escucha durante la adoración para brindar a los fieles la oportunidad de adorar y orar directamente ante Cristo, reconociendo su verdadera presencia. Este acto de adoración profundiza la relación personal con Jesús, permitiéndonos pasar tiempo en su presencia, reflexionar sobre su amor y sacrificio, y experimentar una renovación espiritual. El catecismo de la Iglesia Católica cuenta la hermosa historia de San Juan Vianney, quien se asombró de que uno de sus feligreses pasara tantas horas frente a Jesús en el Santísimo Sacramento. Le preguntó: “¿Qué haces en la adoración?”. El hombre simplemente respondió: “Yo lo miro y Él me mira”.
Atletas como discípulos
El 8 de septiembre tendremos la Adoración bajo las Estrellas; atletas de fútbol como discípulos, y posteriormente tendremos adoración para coronar todas nuestras actividades en el abrazo de Jesús, en quien nuestras actividades terrenales encontrarán su plenitud eterna. Esperemos con ansias ese momento tan especial en su abrazo.

En respuesta a las necesidades de marketing y desarrollo, la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón y la Fundación del Sagrado Corazón se complacen en nombrar a Katelin (Beykirch) Hladik (clase de 2002) como Gerente de Marketing y Eventos para la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón y la Fundación del Sagrado Corazón.

Manual
Hemos trabajado durante todo el verano para actualizar nuestro Manual del Estudiante de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón. La esencia del manual se ha mantenido; sin embargo, busque estas adiciones y aclaraciones:

Procedimientos de entrega y recogida
Cafetería Escolar
Tenemos la suerte de contar con una cafetería escolar que los estudiantes pueden usar todos los días escolares. Animamos a sus estudiantes a disfrutar del almuerzo escolar. La Escuela Sagrado Corazon tiene un horario de lonche CERRADO, lo que significa que los estudiantes no pueden traer comida rápida ni pedir que se la lleven a la escuela para su consumo. Ofrecemos un almuerzo caliente a todos los estudiantes que lo soliciten diariamente. El Portal Familiar FACTS se utiliza para dar seguimiento a todos los cargos por almuerzo y al saldo total de la cuenta de cada estudiante.

La membresía del Club de Apoyo incluye la publicación del apellido en el Muro de Membresía del Club de Apoyo en el Gimnasio McGremlin Sagrado Corazón para el año escolar 2025-2026. La cuota será cobrado automáticamente a la cuenta FACTS del estudiante según lo siguiente:

¡Aún estás a tiempo de inscribirte para que te tomen una foto para nuestro directorio fotográfico de la iglesia! El Directorio Universal de la Iglesia estará aquí del 10 al 13 de septiembre y el 30 de septiembre en el sótano de la Capilla de San Patricio para tomar fotos. Si tuviste que cancelar tu cita inicial o olvidaste inscribirte, aprovecha este día adicional de fotografía. ¡No olvides que recibirás una foto de 8×10 GRATIS solo por tomarte una foto! Haz clic AQUÍ para programar tu cita de fotografía en línea. Una vez en el sitio web, haz clic en “Inscripciones para sesiones fotográficas”, ingresa MO407 en el campo “Código de la iglesia” e ingresa las fotos en el campo “Contraseña de la iglesia”. Sigue las instrucciones para programar la cita para tu familia. Si son 5 o más personas en tu familia, por favor, usa 2 horarias consecutivas.
¿Sabías que puedes invitar a un amigo o familiar a tomarse una foto? Aunque no aparecerán en nuestro directorio de la iglesia, recibirán una foto de 8×10 gratis y la oportunidad de comprar fotos de su familia. ¿Qué tal una foto grupal familiar (abuelos con hijos y nietos)? ¡Y pueden traer una mascota! Las fotos son un regalo de Navidad maravilloso.

¡Nuestra subasta es la recaudación de fondos más grande de nuestra parroquia! Es una gran oportunidad para participar, reencontrarse con amigos y conocer gente nueva. ¡Nuestro último Encuentro de Damas de San Vicente de Paúl fue todo un éxito! Todas las que asistieron la pasaron de maravilla, reencontrándose con viejas amigas de la parroquia y creando amistades con feligresas que conocieron esa noche. ¡Fue tan divertido que lo repetiremos! Las invitamos a unirse a nosotras el lunes, 6 de octubre a nuestro próximo Encuentro de Damas. ¡Ayúdennos a convertir este evento en una nueva tradición para las mujeres de nuestra parroquia!

Nuestro próximo pedido interno de tarjetas de regalo físicas será el lunes, 15 de septiembre.
