Remediation Week (Grades 3-12)

May 18, 2020 - May 22, 2020

Remediation Week Recap

Remediation Week will begin on May 18-22. Remediation Week is a diocesan directive to provide support for those students who did not transition to distance learning as quickly or struggled with connectivity.  At Sacred Heart, we will be offering this opportunity to all students in grades 3-12 regardless of their current grades in the class.

In order for students to correct and resubmit homework assignments, the student and/or parent will need to schedule a time with the teacher (via email) and attend a zoom session during remediation week.  After the student has completed the zoom session they will be allowed to submit that homework assignment for full credit.  The late work policy will not be applied to these retaught assignments and no deductions will be applied.  Under this format, students will be able to redo homework assignments only. Students will be allowed to begin scheduling these remediation zoom sessions starting Friday, May 15 after 12:00 p.m.

In an effort to encourage student accountability, students will be asked to contact their teachers directly to set up zoom sessions.  Our staff has been directed to be available from 8-3 p.m., Monday – Friday of remediation week.

60/40 split on weighting grades for the 3rd and 4th quarters

Due to the nature of distance learning, assessments (quizzes and exams) have been moved to primarily open note or open book.  In order to provide an accurate representation of our academic rigor at Sacred Heart, we will follow the Diocesan Directive of weighting 3rd Quarter as 60% of the semester grade and Fourth Quarter as 40% of the semester grade. There will be no semester exams this term.
