Graduation Shout Out of Thanks!

Thanks so much to everyone who was able to come and support our graduates last week!  I know many of you took advantage of the live stream option and that is also appreciated.  There are some special thank you’s I want to share today:

  • to Mrs. Kennon for her great work with the seniors as their moderator and as a senior mom

  • to Mrs. Bolin for being so dependable with her assistance with both graduations and baccalaureate

  • to Mr. Hartman for sharing his extensive musical talents

  • to Fr. Corel and Fr. Veit for their support, leadership and spiritual guidance over the course of this past week and every week

  • to Mrs. Siron for pulling off a wonderful Prom and being here to support our tech and photo needs

  • to Mr. Jones for coordinating the 8th-grade graduation and so effectively supporting the high school events

  • to Ms. McMullin for serving as commencement speaker and working with the alumni association on the Awards luncheon

  • to Katelin Hladik, Paul Beykirch, Charles Tippie, Kyle Herrick, David Dick and the entire alumni committee for providing a very classy awards luncheon

  • to Mrs. Buckley for having the awards well prepared

  • to APC President Angela McMullin for coming in on Sunday to live-stream the commencement

  • to Mrs. City and Mrs. DeGraff for their untiring support of these events and all SHS efforts and events

  • to Mr. Freels and his staff for all of their assistance with setup and teardown

  • and, most of all, to our graduates and their parents.  You are the backbone of our school community and we are very proud of the SHS classes of 2020 and 2024!

I also thought you might enjoy a few statistics about our Class of 2020:

  • 16 of our 21 graduates (76%) posted a cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher on a 4 point scale over their 4 years of high school.

  • 13 of 21 (62%) posted a 3.7 or higher. Clearly, these young people have taken great pride in their work in the classrooms!

  • 20 of the 21 members of this class have already successfully completed one or more college courses

  • As a group, they will be taking more than 290 hours of college credit with them as they leave SHHS

  • the SHHS Class of 2020 has been offered $695,975 in scholarships and will be utilizing over a half a million at $517,075!

Well done, Class of 2020!
