To maintain and enhance athletic opportunities for student-athletes, Sacred Heart School requires each participating student-athlete to volunteer at athletic events.
Each student-athlete in grades 6 through 12 is required to complete two (2) volunteer shifts per sport in which they participate. Acceptable assignments include:
- Concession Stand
- Gate Duty
- Gremlin Student Store
- Scoreboard
This requirement is per sport and per student-athlete. Example: A student playing both Fall and Spring sports requires 4 total shifts.

- A parent/guardian must accompany students in grades 6–9 during their shift.
- All volunteers must arrive at least 15 minutes before the scheduled shift start time.
- Late arrivals (5 minutes or more past the start time) will be required to work an additional shift.
- Missed shifts will result in a $125 charge to the Family’s FACTS account.
- Families are encouraged to find a replacement if they are unable to attend a scheduled shift. The replacement’s hours may count toward either family’s obligation.
- Spring sports need to complete their shifts during fall and winter activities. We have minimal opportunities during the spring.
- All accounts will be billed in FACTS for shifts not worked.

Opt-Out Option
Families who do not wish to complete volunteer shifts may opt out. An Opt-Out Fee of $250 per sport, per student-athlete will be charged to the Family’s FACTS account in place of service. Notify Mrs. Nikki Howell nhowell@gogremlins.com of this request.
FAQ
- Hours worked by the student for the student-athlete agreement also count towards the student’s religion, NHS, and NJHS service hours. These are submitted by the school office on the student’s behalf.
