Good Afternoon Gremlins,
Last Saturday night the Sacred Heart Hall of Fame inducted several new members. It was an incredible night of celebrating these wonderful inductees but also a chance to catch up with some fantastic people! The Class of 2025 was made up of three former teachers: Jeannine Dove, Sharon Day and Sherry Shanahan Walker ‘65 as well as Dr. Kevin Gerke ‘91, Theodore L. Meyer ‘57 and the Boys Golf State Champion Teams from 2009-2012. This annual event is one of the highlights of our school year. Not only are we honoring those who have made a tremendous impact on our school but also current students help throughout the evening by giving tours and interacting with the attendees.
Thank you to all who made this event possible. Mrs. Bonnie Diefendorf ( HOF member from the Class of 2020/2021) and Mrs. Nikki Howell (Sacred Heart President) did an incredible job of setting up the event with guidance from Liz Van Leer. The emcee team of Kyle Herrick ‘82 (SH School Foundation) and David Dick ’80 were amazing as always! Also a special Thank you to Best Take Media who filmed the videos for each inductee and took pictures of the event.
It’s hard to believe that it is already May. Where did the year go? I can assure you that the Students and Teachers are ready for Summer!! Yet, we have some very important events coming up including the Elementary Concert and the Gremmys on May 7th as well as Finals. At the beginning of this school year, I focused on a theme of accountability for all. Sometimes this has been hard for all of us but I think we have made some important strides forward this school year. Thank you for all of your support! Together we make a difference!

Hey all,
This week we had the retreat for our high schoolers. This was a particularly special retreat for us, as it was a senior-led retreat. As far as I can tell, the retreat went very well, and the students all had a great time. I would highly encourage all of you to talk with our high school students to see what stood out to them from it, as it had some really great testimonies given by our seniors.
I want to give particular shout outs to a few people who helped make the retreat as great as it was.
First and foremost, to Jason Knox and Chad Damlo who volunteered their lunch time to come grill onions, hotdogs, and hamburgers for us. It was such a blessing to have dads in our community come volunteer their time to help us! Also, to Katelin Hladik who made a special batch of her homemade chocolate chip cookies, as well as all of the other families who donated cookies and desserts!
Next to Mrs. Manning, Mr. Gonzalez, and Ms. Balderrama who were chaperones for us on the retreat. When teachers do this, they have to write up lesson plans for their subs which is quite tedious and takes a long time, which is why we are so grateful to them for giving their time to be with us.
And lastly, and most of all to our seniors class who planned and put on the retreat. They did an amazing job putting everything together and then executing the retreat. From helping plan the schedule, to putting together the small groups, to writing the talks, to organizing lunch during the small groups, each senior did a lot to make this happen.
Of particular note among them, I would like to thank Joleen Frost, Sophie Anderson, and Conner Brown for writing and then giving their testimonies. It is not easy to share about your relationship with Christ at any age, much less in high school, and yet they did it, and did an amazing job. I am incredibly grateful to and proud of them!
In addition, I would like to thank Laysha Lopez, who along with Conner and Joleen were our MCs for the day, and Diego de Leon who along with Conner and Sophie were our musicians/cantors for adoration in the afternoon. These five seniors in a particular way made the retreat as great as it was!
Overall, it was definitely a team effort, and each of the seniors helped make the retreat run as well as it did. A huge thanks to them, and everyone else who helped make this day as great as it was!

Novena to Saint Isidore
St. Isidore the Farmer was born in Madrid, Spain, in 1110 to a poor and humble family. He devoted his life to working as a farmer and died on May 15, 1170. He was canonized on March 22, 1622. The earthly remains of him and his wife are found over the main altar of the cathedral in Madrid, Spain. Maria, his wife, was not officially canonized but is honored as a saint throughout Spanish countries. By a special decree of the Sacred Congregation of Rites, dated February 22, 1947, St. Isidore was constituted as the special protector of Catholic Rural Life and American farmers, and consequently, we can pray to God through the intercession of St. Isidore for the needs of those who farm the land and provide food to millions of people.

Senior Spotlight
Sophie Anderson
Sophie is excited to announce that she will be heading to Truman State University in the fall! Sophie plans to major in Biology with hopes of attending medical school and becoming an anesthesiologist in the future! She is most looking forward to the research program at Truman, and being able to study the impact of music on the brain. These are her two passions! She will miss her teammates, castmates, and seeing her friends everyday here at SH the most. We are so proud of you, Sophie!
Grace Sproston
Grace is excited to announce that she will be heading to the University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth, KS in the fall! Grace plans to major in communication with a sports emphasis and minor in psychology. She was also offered a swim scholarship and is looking forward to continuing to do what she loves. She is looking forward to meeting new people and being more independent. Grace will miss the normalcy of high school, the cafeteria ice machine, her teachers, and her friends here at SH the most. We will miss you too, Grace. Good luck!

Camp P23 is an overnight summer camp for junior high boys that pulls from Psalm 23 in looking at Christ and his priests through the identity of a shepherd. Buenas tardes Gremlins,.
El sábado pasado por la noche, el Salón de la Fama del Sagrado Corazón incorporó a varios nuevos miembros. Fue una noche increíble para celebrar a estos maravillosos recién incorporados, ¡y también una oportunidad para reencontrarnos con gente fantástica! La Clase de 2025 estuvo compuesta por tres exprofesores: Jeannine Dove, Sharon Day y Sherry Shanahan Walker (Clase del ‘65), así como por el Dr. Kevin Gerke (Clase del ‘91), Theodore L. Meyer (Clase del ‘57) y los equipos campeones estatales de golf masculino de 2009 a 2012. Este evento anual es uno de los momentos más destacados de nuestro año escolar. No sólo honramos a quienes han tenido un gran impacto en nuestra escuela, sino que también los estudiantes actuales nos ayudan durante la noche ofreciendo visitas guiadas e interactuando con los asistentes.
Gracias a todos los que hicieron posible este evento. La Sra. Bonnie Diefendorf (miembro del Salón de la Fama de la Clase 2020/2021) y la Sra. Nikki Howell (Presidente del Sagrado Corazón) hicieron un trabajo increíble organizando el evento con la guía de Liz Van Leer. El equipo de maestros de ceremonias, compuesto por Kyle Herrick (Clase del ‘82) (Fundación de la Escuela SH) y David Dick (Clase del ‘80), estuvo increíble como siempre. También queremos agradecer especialmente a Best Take Media, que grabó los videos de cada miembro y tomó fotos del evento.
Cuesta creer que ya sea mayo. ¿Dónde se fue el año? ¡Les aseguro que los estudiantes y maestros están listos para el verano! Sin embargo, tenemos eventos muy importantes por delante, como el Concierto de Primaria y los Gremmys el 7 de mayo, además de los exámenes finales. Hola a todos,
Esta semana tuvimos el retiro para nuestros estudiantes de preparatoria. Fue un retiro muy especial para nosotros, ya que fue dirigido por seniors. Por lo que sé, el retiro estuvo muy bien y todos los estudiantes la pasaron genial. Les exhorto que hablen con nuestros estudiantes de preparatoria para ver qué les pareció más interesante, ya que contó con excelentes testimonios de nuestros seniors.
Quiero agradecer especialmente a algunas personas que ayudaron a que el retiro fuera tan genial.
En primer lugar, a Jason Knox y Chad Damlo, quienes ofrecieron su tiempo de almuerzo para venir a asar cebollas, hot dogs y hamburguesas para nosotros. ¡Fue una gran bendición que los papás de nuestra comunidad vinieran a ayudarnos! También, a Katelin Hladik, quien preparó una tanda especial de sus galletas caseras con chispas de chocolate, así como a todas las demás familias que donaron galletas y postres.
Además de la Sra. Manning, el Sr. González y la Sra. Balderrama, quienes nos acompañaron en el retiro. Cuando los maestros hacen esto, tienen que redactar planes de clase para sus sustitutas, lo que toma bastante tiempo. Por eso les estamos muy agradecidos por dedicarnos su tiempo.
Y por último, y sobre todo, a nuestros seniors, que planeó y organizó el retiro. Hicieron un trabajo increíble organizando todo y luego llevándolo a cabo. Desde ayudar a planificar el horario, hasta organizar los grupos pequeños, escribir las charlas y organizar el almuerzo durante los grupos pequeños, cada estudiante hizo mucho para que esto sucediera.
De especial importancia, quiero agradecer a Joleen Frost, Sophie Anderson y Conner Brown por escribir y luego compartir sus testimonios. No es fácil compartir sobre tu relación con Cristo a ninguna edad, y mucho menos en la preparatoria, y aun así lo hicieron, e hicieron un trabajo increíble. ¡Estoy increíblemente agradecido y orgulloso de ellos!
Además, quiero agradecer a Laysha López, quien junto con Conner y Joleen fueron nuestros maestros de ceremonias ese día, y a Diego de León, quien junto con Conner y Sophie fueron nuestros músicos/cantores para la adoración de la tarde. ¡Estos cinco seniors, de una manera particular, hicieron que el retiro fuera tan maravilloso!
En general, fue definitivamente un esfuerzo de equipo, y cada uno de los seniors contribuyó a que el retiro fuera tan bien. ¡Muchísimas gracias a ellos y a todos los que ayudaron a que este día fuera tan maravilloso!

Novena a San Isidoro
San Isidoro el Granjero nació en Madrid, España, en 1110 de una familia humilde y pobre. Dedicó su vida al trabajo de agricultura y falleció el 15 de mayo de 1170. Fue canonizado el 22 de marzo de 1622. Sus restos mortales y los de su esposa se encuentran sobre el altar mayor de la catedral de Madrid, España. María, su esposa, no fue canonizada oficialmente, pero es venerada como santa en todo el territorio español. Por decreto especial de la Sagrada Congregación de Ritos, del 22 de febrero de 1947, San Isidoro fue constituido protector especial de la vida rural Católica y de los agricultores estadounidenses. Por consiguiente, podemos orar a Dios, por su intercesión, por las necesidades de quienes cultivan la tierra y proveen de alimento a millones de personas.

Spotlight de Senior
Sophie Anderson
Sophie está emocionada de anunciar que irá a la Universidad Estatal de Truman en otoño. Sophie planea especializarse en Biología con la esperanza de asistir a la facultad de medicina y convertirse en anestesióloga en el futuro. Lo que más le entusiasma es el programa de investigación en Truman y poder estudiar el impacto de la música en el cerebro. ¡Estas son sus dos pasiones! Extrañará muchísimo a sus compañeros de equipo, a sus compañeros de elenco y ver a sus amigos todos los días aquí en SH. ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de ti, Sophie!
Grace Sproston
Grace se complace en anunciar que este otoño irá a la Universidad de Saint Mary en Leavenworth, Kansas. Grace planea especializarse en comunicación con énfasis en deportes y una especialización en psicología. También le ofrecieron una beca de natación y está deseando seguir haciendo lo que ama. Quiere conocer gente nueva y ser más independiente. Grace extrañará muchísimo la normalidad de la preparatoria, la máquina de hielo de la cafetería, a sus maestros y a sus amigos aquí en SH. Nosotros también te extrañaremos, Grace. ¡Mucha suerte!

-Aviso sobre el cambio de ubicación en el Liberty Stadium. Lamentablemente, el estadio aún no está -terminado, por lo que nos mudaremos al Parque Centennial. Dirección:
Palmer Nichols Field, en el Parque Centennial, justo enfrente de la escuela Parkview.
-Tendremos un food truck disponible, ¡y son fantásticos! Comida y dulces locales: estarán listos para empezar a servir comida a las 11 o antes.
