Good Afternoon Gremlins!
Well Spring was almost in the air….has this been a crazy weather week or what? Only in Missouri can you go from spring like weather, to rain, and then to a blizzard warning. Hopefully, the weather will be wonderful for our Seniors next week as they leave on Tuesday morning for their Mission Trip. Please say an extra prayer for them as they have this special time together, not only participating in service but also hopefully bonding even closer together as a class. While the Seniors are away, the Junior class will be participating in FIT Week. This job shadowing opportunity (formally known as Project Discovery for us old Alums) offers the Juniors wonderful insight into an occupational field of their interest.
If you weren’t in attendance, last weekend, at the Battle of the Brains you need to make sure to plan to participate next year!! It was a wonderful night full of trivia, fun, food and fellowship. A major thank you to Liz Van Leer and her incredible team of volunteers for a great night! Some very special recognition also goes to the incredible team of Bob and Katelin Hladik who were the emcees for the night. Their incredible spirit of fun sets to the tone for the whole evening!
I also want to take a minute to thank all of the SH Faculty and staff this year. They have all had to adjust to new leadership and they have been so flexible and hardworking as we have made significant changes throughout this year. We know that Sacred Heart provides an incredible atmosphere for learning and the entire Administration team has worked to make this a great place for both teachers and students. So, last but not least, now is the time to invite your friends, neighbors, and family to become a Gremlin. Open Enrollment for the upcoming 2025-2026 school is in full swing. Hey all,
This week, the Church celebrated Ash Wednesday to begin the Lenten Season. I find the ashes we received to be a rather poignant symbol for us of what Lent is about, thanks to their dryness and annoying texture which remind us of the fasting and penance we are entering. They also function as a symbol of our own mortality; a reminder that our bodies will return to the dust someday as our soul goes forward to meet our creator.
I also think that they are an important reminder of the spirit which is supposed to underlie our fasting. As on the evening of Ash Wednesday, we wash them off and have no further marks of the fasting we will be doing for the rest of Lent. It shouldn’t be obvious to others what we are doing for Lent, and in particular we shouldn’t be calling attention to what we are doing from others, as Jesus points out in Matthew 6:16-18, but rather we should quietly go about our days as if nothing is different, and our Father who sees in secret will reward us in heaven.
In other news, please pray for our Seniors as they prepare for their mission trip to Oklahoma City next week. We will be going to the Gospel of Life House where we will assist them in their mission of providing a dignified place of rest for people in hospice. In particular, I would ask that you pray that they encounter the merciful love of God during this time, as they walk with those who are preparing to meet their Creator.
Lastly, please keep in your prayers those that will be joining the Church during the Easter season with our OCIA program.
Please know of my prayers for all of you and please pray for me!

We are excited to announce that we have hired Olga Pyvovarova as our Financial Assistant/Database Coordinator effective 3/10/2025, serving both Sacred Heart School and St. Vincent de Paul Parish. Currently Olga works at the Catholic Charities office here in Sedalia. She will be working in the business office Monday and Tuesday, until she is able to transition to working full time for us, after her position at Catholic Charities has been fulfilled. Olga comes to us with a Masters of Economic Cynergetics which was obtained when living in the Ukraine. We are very lucky to have her with us and we are looking forward to when she is able to be with us full time.
We are excited to announce that Raquel Palatto will join the facilities team. She has been working in our after-school program and will join our evening janitorial team. She will be responsible for ensuring that all of our classrooms are clean and tidy.
Senior Spotlight
Joleen will be heading to State Fair Community College in the fall! She plans to major in business management. Joleen has dreams of owning her own business one day, possibly a coffee shop. She is most looking forward to taking the next step in her education. She will also be joining the women’s soccer team at SFCC. Go Roadrunners! She will miss the cafeteria ice machine, all of the students in grades 3-5 that she aides for, her SH soccer teammates, and her friends (long live the “girlie pops”) the most! We are so proud of you, Joleen!
Speech Team Heading to State
On March 1st, Sacred Heart Speech won 3rd place at the District 7 tournament!

Zach Parsons Dress UP Day – Thank You for the Support
Thank you to everyone for supporting our day of remembrance to honor the life of Zach Parsons with a Dress Up Day. Zach, a Sacred Heart junior at the time of his death, held high standards and goals in every area of his life, from how he treated others, to how he chose to dress. “You look good, you do good,” he liked to say. Zach treated everyone with respect and kindness. On this anniversary, we ask that students not only dress up but stretch beyond their comfort zones to lift others up in respect and kindness. The students raised $592.25.ALL proceeds from this Dress UP Day will be matched by the Parsons Family (up to $1000) AND an anonymous donor, to benefit Sacred Heart’s Fine Arts Program.
Celebrate – Reality Check
All Juniors and Seniors participated in the Reality Check event on Tuesday, March 4. This event provides an opportunity for students to navigate through life’s budgets! The Central Bank sponsored the opportunity. SH volunteers and community members were at the stations visited by the students. Stations included taxes, buying a home, insurance, charitable contributions, DMV, entertainment and many more. By participating in this event students gained vast knowledge about how much money is spent in a month’s time and how difficult it could be to stay within budget!

Spring Pictures for Daycare through 8th grade will be taken on Thursday, March 13th. Students may wear their choice of clothing but if an outfit is sleeveless, they must bring a sweater to wear afterward. New A la Carte Pricing Effective 3/10/2025
Youth Sports Baseball and Softball Registration Now Open
Youth sports baseball and softball registration is now open for Sacred Heart students. The Kaysinger Youth Baseball and Softball League offers games at each of the various schools in the conference. Grades K-9th grade can participate. Teams will be determined by the number of kids that sign up. If there aren’t enough in one grade, we will attempt to combine them with other grades. The games typically start in May and go through the beginning of July. The games are played weeknights and weekends. Teams are typically coached by parents or other adults connected to Sacred Heart. The cost will be $50 per player to participate. This money will be used to purchase your child a jersey as well as pay for umps/field rental for host weekends. There will be an option for an additional $25 to purchase your child a new hat if needed. We will be using the same Richardson Hats we have used the past few years. The fee will be charged through your family FACTS account. DO NOT SEND CASH OR CHECKS. Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Stop in at the school office on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our volunteer open hours from 9:00am – 11:00am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the school office or email it to the program coordinator. Our volunteers will fill your order on Tuesdays and Thursdays and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will be at Masses this Sunday, March 9th. 2025 Diocesan Summer Camps Registration NOW Open!
It’s not too early to look at your summer calendars now and start making plans for activities and trips for your children for the summer. Once again, this year, the Diocese of Jefferson City is offering several opportunities for our youth to build and strengthen their faith and their relationship with God. See the flyer for information on dates and registration for overnight camps.
For those not ready for overnight camps, Totus Tuus will be returning to our parish again this summer from Sunday, June 15th thru Friday, June 20th (Sunday thru Thursday for junior high and high school age youth, and Monday thru Friday for elementary age youth).

¡Buenas tardes Gremlins!
Bueno, la primavera ya casi estaba en el aire… ¿Esta semana ha sido de clima loco o qué? Solo en Missouri se puede pasar de un clima primaveral a lluvia y luego a una advertencia de ventisca. Con suerte, el clima estará maravilloso para nuestros seniors la próxima semana, ya que saldrán el martes por la mañana para su viaje misionero. Por favor, hagan una oración adicional por ellos mientras tienen este tiempo especial juntos, no solo participando en el servicio sino también, con suerte, uniéndose aún más como clase. Mientras los seniors están fuera, la clase de juniors participará en la Semana FIT. Esta oportunidad de observación laboral (formalmente conocida como Proyecto Descubrimiento para nosotros los antiguos alumnos) ofrece a los juniors una maravillosa perspectiva de un campo ocupacional de su interés.
Si no estuvo presente el fin de semana pasado a la Batalla de los Cerebros, ¡debes asegurarte de planificar tu participación el año que viene! Fue una noche maravillosa llena de trivia, diversión, comida y compañerismo. ¡Un gran agradecimiento a Liz Van Leer y su increíble equipo de voluntarios por una gran noche! También merece un reconocimiento especial el increíble equipo formado por Bob y Katelin Hladik, que fueron los maestros de ceremonias de la noche. ¡Su increíble espíritu de diversión marcó el tono de toda la velada!
También quiero tomarme un minuto para agradecer a todo el personal y la facultad de SH este año. Todos tuvieron que adaptarse a un nuevo liderazgo y fueron muy flexibles y trabajadores a medida que hicimos cambios significativos a lo largo de este año. Sabemos que Sagrado Corazon brinda una atmósfera increíble para el aprendizaje y todo el equipo administrativo trabajó para hacer de este un gran lugar tanto para los maestros como para los estudiantes. Por último, pero no menos importante, ahora es el momento de invitar a sus amigos, vecinos y familiares a convertirse en un Gremlin. Hola a todos,
Esta semana, la Iglesia celebró el Miércoles de Ceniza para comenzar la temporada de Cuaresma. Considero que las cenizas que recibimos son un símbolo bastante conmovedor de lo que significa la Cuaresma, gracias a su sequedad y textura que nos recuerda el ayuno y la penitencia en los que estamos entrando. También funcionan como un símbolo de nuestra propia mortalidad; un recordatorio de que nuestros cuerpos volverán al polvo algún día mientras nuestra alma avanza para encontrarse con nuestro creador.
También creo que es un recordatorio importante del espíritu que se supone que subyace a nuestro ayuno. Al igual que en la tarde del Miércoles de Ceniza, nos las lavamos y no tenemos más marcas del ayuno que haremos durante el resto de la Cuaresma. No debería ser obvio para los demás lo que estamos haciendo durante la Cuaresma, y en particular no deberíamos llamar la atención de los demás sobre lo que estamos haciendo, como señala Jesús en Mateo 6:16-18, sino que deberíamos seguir con nuestros días en silencio como si nada fuera diferente, y nuestro Padre que ve en lo secreto nos recompensará en el cielo.
En otras noticias, por favor oren por nuestros estudiantes seniors mientras se preparan para su viaje misionero a Oklahoma City la próxima semana. Iremos a la Casa del Evangelio de la Vida, donde los ayudaremos en su misión de brindar un lugar digno de descanso para las personas que se encuentran en hospice. En particular, les pido que oren para que encuentren el amor misericordioso de Dios durante este tiempo, mientras caminan con aquellos que se están preparando para encontrarse con su Creador.
Por último, por favor mantengan en sus oraciones a aquellos que se unirán a la Iglesia durante la temporada de Pascua con nuestro programa OCIA.

Nos complace anunciar que hemos contratado a Olga Pyvovarova como nuestra asistente financiera/coordinadora de base de datos a partir del 10 de marzo de 2025, y trabajará tanto en la escuela Sagrado Corazón como en la parroquia St. Vincent de Paul. Actualmente, Olga trabaja en la oficina de Caridades Católicas aquí en Sedalia. Trabajará en la oficina comercial los lunes y martes, hasta que pueda pasar a trabajar a tiempo completo para nosotros, después de que haya cumplido con su puesto en Caridades Católicas. Olga viene a nosotros con una maestría en Cynergetics económica que obtuvo cuando vivía en Ucrania. Somos muy afortunados de tenerla con nosotros y esperamos con ansias el momento en que pueda estar con nosotros a tiempo completo.
Spotlight de Senior
Joleen irá a State Fair Community College en otoño. Tiene pensado especializarse en administración de empresas. Joleen sueña con tener su propio negocio algún día, posiblemente una cafetería. Lo que más espera es dar el siguiente paso en su educación. También se unirá al equipo de fútbol femenino de SFCC. ¡Vamos Roadrunners! Extrañará mucho la máquina de hielo de la cafetería, a todos los estudiantes de 3º a 5º grado a los que ayuda, a sus compañeras de equipo de fútbol de SH y a sus amigas (¡viva la “girlie pops”). ¡Estamos muy orgullosos de ti, Joleen!

El 1 de marzo, Speech de Sagrado Corazón ganó el tercer lugar en el torneo del Distrito 7.

Zach, un estudiante de tercer año de Sagrado Corazón en el momento de su muerte, tenía estándares y metas altos en cada área de su vida, desde cómo trataba a los demás hasta cómo elegía vestirse. “Te ves bien, haces bien”, le gustaba decir. Zach trataba a todos con respeto y amabilidad. En este aniversario, les pedimos a los estudiantes que no solo se vistan elegantemente, sino que se esfuercen más allá de sus zonas de confort para ayudar a los demás con respeto y amabilidad. Los estudiantes recaudaron $592.25. TODAS las ganancias de este día de vestimenta elegante serán igualadas por la familia Parsons (hasta $1000) y un donante anónimo, para beneficiar al Programa de Bellas Artes de Sagrado Corazón.
Celebrar – Verificación de la realidad
Todos los Juniors y Seniors participaron en el evento Reality Check el martes, 4 de marzo. Este evento brinda una oportunidad para que los estudiantes exploren los presupuestos de la vida. El Banco Central patrocinó la oportunidad. Los voluntarios de SH y los miembros de la comunidad estuvieron en las estaciones que visitaron los estudiantes. Las estaciones incluyeron impuestos, compra de una casa, seguros, contribuciones caritativas, DMV, entretenimiento y mucho más. Al participar en este evento, los estudiantes adquirieron un amplio conocimiento sobre cuánto dinero se gasta en un mes y lo difícil que puede ser mantenerse dentro del presupuesto.

Los alumnos pueden usar la ropa que prefieran, pero si la prenda no tiene mangas, deben traer un suéter para usar después. Ya está abierta la inscripción para los deportes juveniles de béisbol y sóftbol
La inscripción para los deportes juveniles de béisbol y softbol ya está abierta para los estudiantes de Sagrado Corazón. La Liga de béisbol y softbol juvenil de Kaysinger ofrece juegos en cada una de las diversas escuelas de la conferencia. Pueden participar los grados K-9. Los equipos se determinarán según la cantidad de niños que se inscriban. Si no hay suficientes en un grado, intentaremos combinarlos con otros grados. Los juegos suelen comenzar en mayo y continuar hasta principios de julio. Los juegos se juegan entre semana y los fines de semana. Los equipos suelen ser entrenados por padres u otros adultos relacionados con el Sagrado Corazón. El costo será de $50 por jugador para participar. Este dinero se utilizará para comprarle una camiseta a su hijo, así como para pagar el alquiler de los árbitros y el campo para los fines de semana de los anfitriones. Habrá una opción de $25 adicionales para comprarle a su hijo una cachucha nueva si es necesario. Usaremos las mismas cachuchas Richardson que hemos usado en los últimos años.
