Meet Offficer Andrew Bruce

We are pleased to announce the addition of a School Resource Officer (SRO) at Sacred Heart School to further enhance the safety and security of our campus community. Beginning January 7, 2025, Officer Andrew Bruce will join our team in this vital role.

The SRO position has been made possible through the generous support of private funding, securing the position through the end of the school year. Thanks to the support and encouragement of Sherrif Brad Anders, nearly every school in Pettis County has an SRO. We are deeply grateful for this opportunity to further our mission of providing a safe, faith-filled learning environment for all.

Officer Bruce has served as a patrol officer for 2.5 years, a detective for 2.5 years, and a field training officer. In addition, he spent four years dedicated to school security at Horace Mann Elementary School. Officer Bruce’s commitment to the well-being of children extends beyond his professional duties; he has been a board member of Child Safe since 2019 and has served as its vice president since 2022.

As an SRO, Officer Bruce will be responsible for ensuring the safety of students, staff, and visitors while fostering a secure and welcoming environment. In addition to the school day, you’ll also see him at school day Mass and various after-school events. As a liaison between Sacred Heart School and law enforcement, Officer Bruce will build relationships with our students, staff, and families while providing valuable insights and training on relevant safety issues. His experience and approachable demeanor will also position him as an informal counselor for students, partnering with Mrs. Tippie and the administration to provide student guidance and support when needed.

We will provide more details about Officer Bruce’s schedule and plans to engage with our community as his start date approaches. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out.
