Good Afternoon,

Our school schedule has just been packed full over the last few weeks.  Between school events, athletics, and family events, I know that you have all been very busy.

This next week we have two events going on at school that give us wonderful opportunities to think about our blessings and reflect on some people who are very important in our lives.  I know that I speak for most of us when I say, “I know my grandparents were the best grandparents ever!”  Grandparents play such a special role in our lives.  Our first event is a celebration with those wonderful people.  The Secondary Grandparent’s day will be held on Nov. 8th from 8:30am until 10:30am and will start in the Sacred Heart Chapel.  Please CLICK HERE to join us for this celebration.

 

Our other event is the All Souls Remembrance Garden.  For the month of November, students are invited to write the names of deceased loved ones for whom they would like to pray in the Book of Remembrance that will be placed in the Garden, and also bring in copies of photographs of those loved ones to be displayed in the Remembrance Garden.  Visitors to Grandparent’s Day may also sign the Book of Remembrance.  Have a wonderful week!!

National Vocation Awareness Week

National Vocation Awareness Week, celebrated November 3-9, 2024, is an annual week-long celebration of the Catholic Church in the United States dedicated to promoting vocations to the priesthood, diaconate, and consecrated life through prayer and education, and to renew our prayers and support for those who are considering one of these particular vocations. NVAW began in 1976 when the U. S. bishops designated the 28th Sunday of the year for NVAW. In 1997, this celebration was moved to coincide with the Feast of the Baptism of the Lord, which falls on January 13 in 2013. Beginning in 2014, NVAW was moved to the first full week of November.

1st Reconciliation Parents’ Meeting

On Thursday, November 7, there will be meetings in the Music Room of Sacred Heart School for all parents of children being prepared to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance for the first time this year. We would like to see all of those parents attend this meeting, if possible, to share a time together to receive your own spiritual and practical preparation for your children’s reception of this great sacrament.

The meeting will be conducted in English beginning at 6:00pm, and in Spanish beginning at 7:00pm. We hope to see you there!

Remembering Our Faithful Departed

The Catholic Church has a custom of remembering all the faithful departed during the month of November.

As we did last year, we will set up a Remembrance Garden in Sacred Heart School, to serve as a reminder to pray for our own departed loved ones. For the month of November, students are invited to write the names of deceased loved ones for whom they would like to pray in the Book of Remembrance that will be placed in the Garden, and also bring in copies of photographs of those loved ones to be displayed in the Remembrance Garden. Students will be reminded to pray for those on the list each day, and special prayers and petitions will also be offered up for these individuals during daily Mass at St. Vincent de Paul.

Catholics believe Purgatory is an expression of God’s love, His desire to cleanse our souls of all that might keep us from experiencing the fullness of joy in Heaven. It’s a comforting thought and one that should encourage us, especially during November, to offer our prayers for the Holy Souls.

This practice has its foundation in four ideas:

1. Communion of Saints: There is a profound communion between the members of the Church on earth, in heaven, and in purgatory. This spiritual bond is known as the communion of saints. Through baptism, believers are united as one body in Christ. Therefore, the faithful on earth can offer prayers and intercessions for the souls in purgatory, and the saints in heaven can intercede for us (CCC 946-962).

2. Purification and Final Perfection: The Church believes that after death, souls may undergo a process of purification in purgatory before entering into the fullness of heaven. The prayers of the faithful can assist the souls in purgatory by obtaining God’s mercy and helping them in their journey toward final union with God. Praying for the departed is an act of charity and solidarity, expressing our love and concern for those who have died (CCC 1030-1032).

3. Offering Mercy and Forgiveness: Praying for the departed is also an opportunity to offer mercy and forgiveness. Through our prayers, we can ask God to grant His infinite mercy to the souls in purgatory, releasing them from any remaining temporal punishment due to their sins. It is an act of love to remember and pray for those who have gone before us, entrusting them to God’s mercy and seeking their eternal rest (CCC 1479).

4. Hope in the Resurrection: Praying for the departed is rooted in the hope of the resurrection and the belief in eternal life. The Church believes that death is not the end but a transition to a new and eternal existence. By praying for the departed, we express our faith in the resurrection and our trust in God’s promise of eternal life. It is a way to continue our relationship with the deceased, knowing that they are still part of the communion of saints (CCC 1681).

Sign-Up to Help the Booster Club at Gate & Concession Stand Winter Sports

A big thank you to our gate and concession stand volunteers. We couldn’t do it without you!

If you have a student-athlete, sign-up to work at the concession stand or the gate. Each student-athlete is required to work two shifts in the concession stand or gate for Booster Club. A parent is required if the student is under age 14. If a student and parent both work the same shift, then two shifts are covered, and you have met your requirement! Now is a great time for winter and spring athletes to meet their requirements ahead of their seasons!

If the concession stand/gate duty requirement is not met, your FACTS account will be charged $100.

Soccer kicks off district play next week! We are the host for the 24-25 district tournament.

Location – Suzie Ditzfeld Memorial Field- 2505 W 32nd St, Sedalia, MO 65301, located

behind Skyline Elementary. Back up location is turf at Tiger Stadium address is 2010 Tiger

Pride Blvd, Sedalia MO 65301.

Admission- Admission is $6 per person. Cash sales only.

Food- There will be 2 food trucks there the first 2 nights and 1 food truck there on

championship night. David’s Original Cheese Steak and Arnolds loaded Fries and

Lemonade. *I will provide a meal for officials each night

Home Team- In district play the top team on the bracket will be considered the home team

and wear dark, visiting team wears white.

Benches/Seating- If facing the team benches from across the field(bleacher side) as you enter and walk across- home team will be on the North Bench and the visiting team will be on the

South Bench. Spectators for each team will sit across from their bench. There will be no

seating allowed in front of the bleachers, spectators may sit on the bleachers or the

concrete areas to the sides.

Our volunteers will fill your order on Tuesdays and Thursdays and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will not be at Masses this Sunday. We will be back Sunday, November 10th. Buenas tardes,

 

Nuestro horario escolar ha estado lleno durante las últimas semanas.  Entre eventos escolares, atletismo y eventos familiares, sé que todos han estado muy ocupados.

La próxima semana tendremos dos eventos en la escuela que nos brindan maravillosas oportunidades para pensar en nuestras bendiciones y reflexionar sobre algunas personas que son muy importantes en nuestras vidas.  Sé que hablo por la mayoría de nosotros cuando digo: “¡Sé que mis abuelos fueron los mejores abuelos de todos los tiempos!. Los abuelos juegan un papel muy especial en nuestras vidas. Nuestro primer evento es una celebración con esa gente maravillosa. El día de los abuelos de secundaria se llevará a cabo el 8 de noviembre de 8:30 am a 10:30 am y comenzará en la Capilla del Sagrado Corazón.  Por favor HAGA CLIC AQUÍ para unirse a nosotros en esta celebración.

 

Nuestro otro evento es el Jardín del Recuerdo de Todos los Difuntos. Para el mes de noviembre, se invita a los estudiantes a escribir los nombres de sus seres queridos que han fallecido por quienes les gustaría orar en el Libro del Recuerdo que se colocará en el Jardín, y también a traer copias de fotografías de esos seres queridos que serán exhibidos en el Jardín del Recuerdo. Los invitados para el Día de los Abuelos también pueden firmar el Libro del Recuerdo.  ¡¡Que tengas una semana maravillosa!!

La Semana Nacional de Concientización sobre las Vocaciones

La Semana Nacional de Concientización sobre las Vocaciones (NVAW, por sus siglas en inglés), que tendrá lugar del 3 al 9 de noviembre de 2024, es una celebración anual de la Iglesia Católica de Estados Unidos que dura una semana, y que tiene el objetivo de promover, mediante la oración y la formación, las vocaciones al sacerdocio, al diaconado y a la vida consagrada, así como también el de renovar nuestras oraciones y apoyo por aquellos que están considerando alguna de estas vocaciones. La NVAW tuvo su comienzo en 1976, cuando los obispos estadounidenses designaron el domingo 28º del año para celebrarla. En 1997, esta celebración fue trasladada de fecha, para hacerla coincidir con la Fiesta del Bautismo del Señor, que cayó en el día 13 de enero de 2013. A partir de 2014, la NVAW fue trasladado a la primera semana completa de noviembre.

Reuniones de padres para la primera confesión

El jueves 7 de noviembre habrá reuniones en el Salón de Música de la Escuela Sagrado Corazón para todos los padres de niños que se están preparando para celebrar el Sacramento de la Penitencia por primera vez este año. Nos gustaría que todos esos padres asistieran a esta reunión, si es posible, para compartir un tiempo juntos para recibir su propia preparación espiritual y práctica para la recepción de este gran sacramento por parte de sus hijos.

La reunión se llevará a cabo en inglés a partir de las 6:00pm y en español a partir de las 7:00pm ¡Nos vemos allí!

Recordando a nuestros fieles difuntos

La Iglesia Católica tiene la costumbre de recordar a todos los fieles que han fallecido durante el mes de noviembre.

Como hicimos el año pasado, instalaremos un Jardín del Recuerdo en la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón, para que sirva como recordatorio de orar por nuestros seres queridos fallecidos. Durante el mes de noviembre, se invita a los estudiantes a escribir los nombres de los seres queridos fallecidos por los que les gustaría orar en el Libro del Recuerdo que se colocará en el Jardín, y también traer copias de fotografías de esos seres queridos para exhibirlas en el Jardín del Recuerdo. Se recordará a los estudiantes que oren por las personas de la lista todos los días, y también se ofrecerán oraciones y peticiones especiales por estas personas durante la Misa diaria en San Vicente de Paúl.

Los católicos creen que el Purgatorio es una expresión del amor de Dios, Su deseo de limpiar nuestras almas de todo lo que pueda impedirnos experimentar la plenitud de la alegría en el Cielo. Es un pensamiento reconfortante y que debería animarnos, especialmente durante noviembre, a ofrecer nuestras oraciones por las Almas en purgatorio.

Esta práctica se fundamenta en cuatro ideas:

1. Comunión de los Santos: Existe una profunda comunión entre los miembros de la Iglesia en la tierra, en el cielo y en el purgatorio. Este vínculo espiritual se conoce como la comunión de los santos. A través del bautismo, los creyentes se unen como un solo cuerpo en Cristo. Por lo tanto, los fieles en la tierra pueden ofrecer oraciones e intercesiones por las almas del purgatorio, y los santos en el cielo pueden interceder por nosotros (CIC 946-962).

2. Purificación y Perfección Final: La Iglesia cree que después de la muerte, las almas pueden pasar por un proceso de purificación en el purgatorio antes de entrar en la plenitud del cielo. Las oraciones de los fieles pueden ayudar a las almas del purgatorio obteniendo la misericordia de Dios y ayudándolas en su camino hacia la unión final con Dios. Orar por los difuntos es un acto de caridad y solidaridad, que expresa nuestro amor y preocupación por los que han muerto (CIC 1030-1032).

3. Ofrenda de misericordia y perdón: Orar por los difuntos es también una oportunidad para ofrecer misericordia y perdón. A través de nuestras oraciones, podemos pedir a Dios que conceda su infinita misericordia a las almas del purgatorio, liberándolas de cualquier castigo temporal restante debido a sus pecados. Es un acto de amor recordar y orar por quienes nos han precedido, encomendándolos a la misericordia de Dios y buscando su descanso eterno (CIC 1479).

4. Esperanza en la Resurrección: Orar por los difuntos tiene sus raíces en la esperanza de la resurrección y la creencia en la vida eterna. La Iglesia cree que la muerte no es el final sino una transición a una existencia nueva y eterna. Al orar por los difuntos, expresamos nuestra fe en la resurrección y nuestra confianza en la promesa de Dios de vida eterna. Es una manera de continuar nuestra relación con los difuntos, sabiendo que siguen siendo parte de la comunión de los santos (CIC 1681).

Si tiene un estudiante-atleta, regístrese para trabajar en el puesto de comida o en la puerta. Cada estudiante-atleta debe trabajar dos turnos en el puesto de comida o en la puerta del Booster Club. Se requiere un padre si el estudiante tiene menos de 14 años. Si un estudiante y un padre trabajan en el mismo turno, entonces se cubren dos turnos y usted ha cumplido con su requisito. ¡Ahora es un buen momento para que los atletas de invierno y primavera cumplan con sus requisitos antes de sus temporadas!

Si no se cumple con el requisito de servicio en el puesto de comida/puerta, se le cobrarán $100 a su cuenta FACTS.

Bancas/Asientos: si está frente a las bancas del equipo desde el otro lado del campo (lado de las gradas) al entrar y cruzar, el equipo local estará en la banca norte y el equipo visitante estará en la banca norte.

Banco Sur. Los espectadores de cada equipo se sentarán frente a su banquillo. no habrá asientos permitidos frente a las gradas, los espectadores pueden sentarse en las gradas o en áreas de concreto a los lados.
