Armor of God – 1st and 9th Grade

Last week at the 8:30am Masses on Tuesday and Thursday morning, the 1st graders received the crucifix and 9th graders received the prayer journal as the next items in their Armor of God.

Draw your strength from the Lord and from his mighty power. Put on the armor of God so that you may be able to stand firm against the tactics of the devil. – Ephesians 6:10-11

8th Grade Retreat

Last Wednesday, our 8th grade students spent the day together on retreat here on campus. St. Vincent de Paul Parishioner Kevin Morales put together a great team to lead our students in prayer, guide their reflection, and give witness to the power of living our Christian faith boldly. It seems like they had a lot of fun, too!

Living Rosary

Last Friday, the beautiful tradition of the Living Rosary returned to Sacred Heart School. Our 5th-grade students led the entire school through the Luminous Mysteries, bringing all grades together in prayer and reflection. What a powerful witness to our faith and the importance of prayer in our community!

Rosary Rally

During this month dedicated to the Rosary, we also gathered on Saturday, October 19th for our annual Rosary Rally, asking Our Lady to intercede for our school and parish, community, state, and nation.

Kyah Cares Award

Last Tuesday, we had a special guest with us…it was Kyah, The Sedalia Police Therapy Dog.

Kyah has dedicated her life to caring for and comforting others. Kyah was here to recognize an elementary student that has consistently shown good character traits and has set a positive example to other students in the school. This month’s recipient of the Kyah Cares Award is 3rd grader, Nolan Schmitz. Yay! Congratulations, Nolan!

Preschool Fire Safety Demonstration

Fire Inspector Jamie Volk and his crew from the Sedalia Fire Department visited our Preschool classes today! They shared important safety tips like stop, drop, and roll, and reminded students to “play tag,” not “hide n seek,” if they need help during a fire. Our little learners also practiced staying low and crawling to safety, and learned when to call 911—definitely not for avoiding chores and homework!

The highlight was exploring the firetruck and checking out the equipment firefighters use. To show their appreciation, the students presented Fire Inspector Bolk and his crew with handmade cards!

High Five Fridays

Sacred Heart Soccer Moms showed up this morning as our High Five Heroes!  They brought their A-game, cheering on our students as the first quarter draws to a close. It’s easy to see just how kind, caring, and supportive our community is, with students entering the building full of smiles! Thank you, Soccer Moms, for making this morning so special!

JH Volleyball Season Wraps Up

The JH Volleyball team competed in the Kaysinger Conference Tournament this past weekend, bringing home a second place win. The program has gained immense momentum the last several years under the direction of Coach Shiny and Coach Whithed, who joined her this year. They have consistently stayed at the front of the pack and always competing. We are extremely proud of the coaching staff and the team for their accomplishments in the 2024-2025 season!

Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Stop in at the school office on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our volunteer open hours from 9:00am – 11:00am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the school office or email it to the program coordinator at scrip@gogremlins.com. Our volunteers will fill your order on Tuesdays and Thursdays and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will be available for purchase after all Sunday Masses this Sunday, October 27th. Armadura de DIos – Primer y noveno grado

La semana pasada, en las Misas de las 8:30 am el martes y jueves por la mañana, los estudiantes de 1er grado recibieron el crucifijo y los de 9no grado recibieron el diario de oración como los siguientes elementos de su Armadura de Dios.

Saca tu fuerza del Señor y de su gran poder. Ponte la armadura de Dios para que puedas mantenerte firme contra las tácticas del diablo. – Efesios 6:10-11

Retiro del octavo grado

El miércoles pasado, nuestros estudiantes de octavo grado pasaron el día juntos en un retiro aquí en el campus. El feligrese de San Vicente de Paúl, Kevin Morales, formó un gran equipo para guiar a nuestros estudiantes en oración, guiar su reflexión y dar testimonio del poder de vivir nuestra fe Cristiana con valentía. ¡Parece que ellos también se divirtieron mucho!

Rosario Viviente

El pasado viernes regresó la hermosa tradición del Rosario Viviente a la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón. Nuestros estudiantes de quinto grado guiaron a toda la escuela a través de los Misterios Luminosos, reuniendo a todos los grados en oración y reflexión. ¡Qué testimonio tan poderoso de nuestra fe y de la importancia de la oración en nuestra comunidad!

Rally del Rosario

Durante este mes dedicado al Rosario, también nos reunimos el sábado 19 de octubre para nuestro Rally Anual del Rosario, pidiendo a Nuestra Señora que interceda por nuestra escuela y parroquia, nuestra comunidad, nuestro estado y nuestra nación.

Premio Kyah Cares

El martes pasado, tuvimos un invitado especial con nosotros… era Kyah, el perro de terapia policial de Sedalia. Kyah ha dedicado su vida a cuidar y consolar a los demás. Kyah estuvo aquí para reconocer a un estudiante de primaria que consistentemente ha mostrado buenos rasgos de carácter y ha dado un ejemplo positivo a otros estudiantes de la escuela. El ganador de este mes del Premio Kyah Cares es Nolan Schmitz, estudiante de tercer grado. ¡Felicitaciones, Nolan!

Demostración de seguridad contra incendios en preescolar

 

¡El inspector de bomberos Jamie Bolk y su equipo del Departamento de Bomberos de Sedalia visitaron nuestras clases de preescolar hoy! Compartieron importantes consejos de seguridad como detenerse, tirarse al suelo y rodar, y les recordaron a los estudiantes “jugar tag”, no “al escondite”, si necesitan ayuda durante un incendio. Nuestros pequeños alumnos también practicaron mantenerse agachados y gatear hacia un lugar seguro, y aprendieron cuándo llamar al 911, ¡definitivamente no para evitar hacer tareas y limpieza!

Lo más destacado fue explorar el camión de bomberos y mirar el equipo que utilizan los bomberos. Para mostrar su agradecimiento, los estudiantes regalaron tarjetas hechas a mano al inspector de bomberos Bolk y su equipo.

High Five de viernes

¡Las Mamás de Fútbol del Sagrado Corazón aparecieron esta mañana como nuestras Héroes de high five! Hicieron su mejor esfuerzo, animando a nuestros estudiantes a medida que el primer trimestre llega a su fin. ¡Es fácil ver cuán amable, atenta y solidaria es nuestra comunidad, con estudiantes que ingresan al edificio llenos de sonrisas! ¡Gracias, mamás de fútbol, por hacer que esta mañana sea tan especial!

La temporada de voleibol de JH concluye

El equipo de voleibol JH compitió en el Torneo de la Conferencia Kaysinger el fin de semana pasado y se llevó a casa una victoria por el segundo lugar. El programa ha ganado un inmenso impulso en los últimos años bajo la dirección de la entrenadora Shiny y el entrenador Whited, quienes se unieron a ella este año. Se han mantenido constantemente al frente del grupo y siempre compitiendo. ¡Estamos extremadamente orgullosos del cuerpo técnico y del equipo por sus logros en la temporada 2024-2025!
