Dear Sacred Heart Parents and Students.

This Friday, October 18th, marks the end of the first quarter. I don’t know about you, but it has flown by for me! We have had a great start to the year, and fall feels like it is finally here. Our students have worked hard these last few months to grow their hearts and minds. Please continue to pray for our students, staff, faculty, and administration. The end of the quarter is exciting and also exhausting!

Grade cards will arrive via email sometime before the afternoon of October 23rd. We would like to have them to you as soon as possible, but a lot of work goes into getting them ready. Please be ready to discuss your child’s successes and any challenges they are having with your child’s teachers at parent/teacher conferences on 10/23 and 10/24. Find the link HERE to sign up! Armor of God – 8th Grade

Sacred Heart School uses the Armor of God program to introduce our students to new forms of prayer and various sacramentals of the Church each year over the course of their time with us, from the 1st grade through the 12th grade.

Theology of the Body

Next Tuesday, October 22nd, our eighth grade students will receive a copy of Jason Evert’s book Theology of His Body/Theology of Her Body. Jason Evert is a nationally recognized Catholic speaker and author who brings to our young people a positive message about the Church’s understanding of the meaning of our human bodies and the gift of being created male and female. He and his wife Crystalina founded the Chastity Project to help teens and young adults discover why chastity makes you free to love.

It is no accident that our students receive these books on October 22nd, the feast day of Pope St. John Paul II, because the “Theology of the Body” refers in the first place to the teachings of this great saint over the course of his papacy about the meaning of the human body and what it can teach us about being created in the image and likeness of God. Jason Evert is one of several contemporary authors and speakers who have studied the teaching of St. John Paul II and seek to make his message known throughout the Church and the world.

XLT Adoration

Next Tuesday, October 22nd, will also be the first day of XLT Adoration this academic year at Sacred Heart School. During these monthly days of Eucharistic adoration in Sacred Heart Chapel, we provide Bibles and Rosaries and other prayer aids in the church for our students, we have periods of silence, we have periods of Praise and Worship Music, and usually one or both of us priests is available to pray with any students who are interested. During this day each grade in our school will schedule at least some time to come over to the church and spend some time in prayer and adoration.

All are welcome to join XLT Adoration, as well as our normal hours of Eucharistic adoration in the Sacred Heart Adoration Chapel:

    Tuesdays    9am – 9pm

    Thursdays    9am – 9pm

    Fridays    9am – 6pm (with Benediction)

Finally, HERE are three tips from Venerable Fulton Sheen about how to pray before the Blessed Sacrament during Eucharistic adoration.

All our Sacred Heart students and families are also welcome to join us tomorrow, Saturday, October 19th, at 12:00pm for our annual St. Vincent de Paul Parish Rosary Rally. We will meet on the sidewalk outside the Parish Center on the east side of Sacred Heart Chapel.

Concession and Gate Duty Sign-Up – Basketball Season

If you have a student-athlete playing for our Junior High and High School teams, you are asked to sign up to work at the concession stand or the gate. Sign up today!

Each student-athlete is required to work two shifts in the concession stand or gate for Booster Club. A parent is required if the student is under age 14. If a student and parent both work the same shift, then two shifts are covered, and you have met your requirements! Sign up today!

Now is a great time for winter and spring athletes to meet their requirements ahead of their seasons! If you played a fall sport and have yet to sign up, now is the time.

Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Stop in at the school office on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our volunteer open hours from 9:00am – 11:00am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the school office or email it to the program coordinator at scrip@gogremlins.com. Our volunteers will fill your order on Tuesdays and Thursdays and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. We will not be at Masses this weekend. We will be back on Sunday, October 27th. Estimados padres y estudiantes del Sagrado Corazón.

 

Este viernes 18 de octubre marca el final del primer trimestre. No sé usted, ¡pero a mí se me ha pasado volando! Hemos tenido un gran comienzo de año y parece que el otoño finalmente ha llegado. Nuestros estudiantes han trabajado duro estos últimos meses para hacer crecer sus corazones y mentes. Continúe orando por nuestros estudiantes, personal, profesores y administración. ¡El final del trimestre es apasionante y también agotador!

 

Las tarjetas de calificaciones llegarán por correo electrónico antes de la tarde del 23 de octubre. Nos gustaría tenerlos lo antes posible, pero se requiere mucho trabajo para prepararlos. Armadura de Dios – 8º grado

La Escuela Sagrado Corazón utiliza el programa Armadura de Dios para presentarles a nuestros estudiantes nuevas formas de oración y varios sacramentales de la Iglesia cada año durante el transcurso de su tiempo con nosotros, desde el 1er grado hasta el 12º grado.

Teología del Cuerpo

El próximo martes 22 de octubre, nuestros estudiantes del 8º grado recibirán una copia del libro de Jason Evert Theology of His Body/Theology of Her Body. Jason Evert es un orador y autor católico reconocido a nivel nacional que lleva a nuestros jóvenes un mensaje positivo sobre la comprensión de la Iglesia sobre el significado de nuestros cuerpos humanos y el don de ser creados hombre y mujer. Él y su esposa Crystalina fundaron el Chastity Project para ayudar a los adolescentes y adultos jóvenes a descubrir por qué la castidad los hace libres para amar.

No es casualidad que nuestros estudiantes reciban estos libros el 22 de octubre, el día de la fiesta de San Juan Pablo II, porque la “Teología del Cuerpo” se refiere en primer lugar a las enseñanzas de este gran santo a lo largo de su papado sobre el significado del cuerpo humano y lo que puede enseñarnos sobre ser creados a imagen y semejanza de Dios. Adoración XLT

El próximo martes 22 de octubre también será el primer día de Adoración XLT de este año académico. Durante estos días mensuales de adoración eucarística en la Capilla del Sagrado Corazón, proporcionamos Biblias, Rosarios y otras ayudas de oración en la iglesia para nuestros estudiantes, tenemos períodos de silencio, tenemos períodos de música de alabanza y adoración y, por lo general, uno o ambos sacerdotes está disponible para orar con cualquier estudiante que desee orar o celebrar el Sacramento de la Penitencia. Durante el día, cada grado de nuestra escuela programará al menos tiempo para venir a la iglesia y pasar tiempo en oración y adoración.

 

Todos son bienvenidos a unirse a Adoration XLT, así como en nuestro horario normal de adoración Eucarística en la Capilla de Adoración del Sagrado Corazón:

Rally del Rosario
