THANK YOU VOLUNTEERS! The Sacred Heart School community wouldn’t – couldn’t – be all that it is without our amazing volunteers. We’re always grateful for our volunteers, but we want to give them an extra special shout out during national Volunteer Appreciation Week! Every single day – from the moment the doors open until after the last sports practice, activity, meeting or game ends for the evening – volunteers are helping us in countless ways. We can’t thank you enough for all you do to make this a wonderful community for our students and families! God Bless You!
I wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for your continued support with our afternoon pick up process. I am pleased to inform you that everything is running smoothly, and we have been able to ensure the safe transition of all students without any issues.
However, I kindly request your assistance in remaining outside when picking up your children. Some parents have been entering the gym, which complicates our procedures.Our procedure is to call a few cars in line first, followed by children whose parents have parked and walked up to get their children, before returning to the cars. If you need to collect your child before we call the walk-up group, please arrive no later than 2:50 so the office can assist in bringing the child down early
By working together to follow these guidelines, we have consistently managed to have all students loaded into cars by 3:18. With your continued cooperation, I believe we can even improve this timing further.

Senior Spotlight – ELLIE CORUNA
Ellie is heading to Columbia, MO to attend the University of Missouri-Columbia in the fall! She plans to major in computer science, and hopes this major will help her to become a software engineer after college. Ellie is looking forward to attending a large university and meeting a lot of new people. She will miss her friends, classmates, and teachers the most. We will miss seeing your smiling face everyday, Ellie!
Senior Spotlight – OLIVIA DOBSON
Olivia is excited to announce that she will be attending State Fair Community College in the fall! Olivia will be playing the flute in the jazz band and the concert band. Olivia will also sing in the Chamber Choir while attending SFCC. After her time at SFCC, she would like to transfer to Kansas City Community College to earn a mortuary degree. She is looking forward to taking this next step and seeing what she is capable of. She will miss the comforting environment of Sacred Heart having been attending since kindergarten. She will also miss her teachers, especially Mrs. Jennings. We will miss you too, Olivia!
Senior Spotlight – CARTER RICE
Carter is headed to State Fair Community College in the fall! Carter plans to transfer to a 4-year university after earning his associates degree to major in mechanical engineering. Carter is going to play baseball for the Roadrunners, and he is looking forward to polishing his skills as catcher. He will miss seeing his friends everyday the most. We will miss you, Carter!
Senior Spotlight – MARCEL WALTON
Marcel plans to enlist in the United States Marine Corps after high school graduation! He is planning to be trained as a heavy gunner. He is most looking forward to living in a different state after living in Sedalia his whole life. He will miss his Sacred Heart friends and his family the most. Good luck on your new adventure, Marcel!

Totus Tuus Registration Time
TOTUS TUUS (latin for “totally yours”), is a summer catechetical youth program that combines Catholic religious instruction and FUN!!! A team of college-age students and seminarians are coming to our parish the week of June 16-21.
The youthfulness and energy of these teachers is an inspiring way to share the faith and their enthusiasm is contagious, so come out and join us!!! TOTUS TUUS is Monday-Friday 9:00am-2:30pm for school children going into grades 1-6. The day includes catechetical instruction, songs, and skits that are silly but teach serious stuff, encounters with the sacraments – particularly Confession and Eucharist, and time for games and recess. For junior high and high school youth, TOTUS TUUS is Sunday-Thursday 7-8:30pm with more in-depth discussions on our theme.
There is no cost for families, but we are looking for people to volunteer to provide dinners and monetary donations for the other meals for the missionaries. We thank you all in advance for your usual generosity!

Please consider praying the Novena to St. Isidore in your homes on May 7-15. This is a special opportunity to pray to the Saint who is the protector of Catholic Rural Life and American Farmers. The time commitment is only 10-15 minutes per day. From the Catholic Rural Life website, you can read the Novena, download a printable version, or simply watch the video each day. Midwest March for Life
As part of our academic curriculum and service, our 7th-grade students are taking a field trip on Wednesday, May 1st. They will be joining people from around the country in the Midwest March for Life in Jefferson City, MO.
Abortion takes the lives of millions of unborn children every year in the United States. The purpose of this field trip is to give the students the opportunity to join hundreds of youth and adults in a peaceful march and rally to support life while they hear different guest speakers, testimonies, and apologetics. If you are interested in chaperoning and are Virtus-trained, please reach out; we need you!
The information for that day is displayed in the image above. We will arrive in time for the announcements prior to the rally, and then we will march. Also, we will have time to check out the booths for the different organizations. Then lunch and a trip to Central Dairy.
Thank you for allowing me to participate in your child’s spiritual formation. I believe that is God’s plan for placing me where I am, helping them to grow closer to God’s love as they lift me up as well in this mission.

6th Grade Vocation Day
On Wednesday, May 1st, our 6th graders will join other 6th graders throughout the Diocese of Jefferson City for the yearly 6th Grade Vocation Day. This activity will take place at Our Lady of Lourdes Interparish School in Columbia, MO.
What is 6th Grade Vocation Day? It is a fun day of prayer, reflection, talks, and discussion to help students think about their future in the light of God’s will. He has a plan for each and every one of us (a vocation) that we must discern and follow with all our hearts. God’s will is never the easiest path to follow, but it is undoubtedly the only one that gives us everlasting joy and marks the path we must follow to be with Him in heaven.
The Diocese of Jefferson City organizes 6th Grade Vocation Day, which has an educational purpose. Like all other activities within our Religion curriculum, students are invited to participate, be respectful, and have fun.
I am looking for one or two Virtus-trained chaperones. If you would like to come with us and help with transportation and supervision, please contact me.
National Prayer Day
Together we pray for people working in Arts, Media and Entertainment.
We pray that God would avail much in the Arts, Entertainment and Media as we pray fervently for all who use the talent and gifts He has given them to compete, inspire, entertain and inform us. We pray that they would see this beautiful world through God’s eyes and through His heart as the Creator of all that exists. For those who write, that He reveals Himself as the Word who was in the beginning with God, and was God who Created the universe. May they understand the power of words, and seek Him to choose them carefully, truthfully, in wisdom, knowledge and understanding; to build up and not tear down, to speak life and not death. We pray for those who work in front of and behind the cameras and curtains, screens, stadiums, and stages. We lift up those who dance, train, compete, paint, sculpt, and sing with the gifts and beauty He has poured into them, as they experience His strength and splendor around them and towards them. We pray that they see and project life and love through His light and lens. Living the lives He has written for them from beginning to end on earth, while sensing and sharing glimpses of the sounds and sights of heaven given them as they seek and create through Him. May they live humbly, pointing their audience, fans, and social media followers to see through them and follow God.
As people populated the Earth, God poured creative talents into people for different works that would benefit them and glorify the Lord. Today, people with these creative gifts make up the Arts, Entertainment, and Media spheres. The average American consumes an astounding amount of media each day: entertainment television, digital games, social media, news, and music. These influences shape the things we think about, the words we say, and the way we see others and treat them. It takes prayer to discern what media influences will keep the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts acceptable and pleasing to God. (Psalm 19:14)
The people who make TV shows, report the news, and perform in shows need our prayers. They are filled with God-given talents and abilities and need the Lord to guide them in using their gifts to glorify Him. Some need to experience the love of God, while others need a faith community to surround them with support. Thousands of Christians who work in arts and entertainment are fighting to infuse wholesome and uplifting content in our culture while Christians in the media sphere work hard to honor the God of Truth through truthful news reporting.
Arts, Entertainment and Media needs our prayers!

RaiseRight Everyday – Changes to Casey’s Gift Cards!!
If you are reloading your Casey’s gift cards, please read below for changes taking effect April 22nd.
Effective April 22, you will no longer have access to add new funds to your Casey’s physical gift card. Casey’s is launching new gift cards, so reload will not be available until the new cards are introduced. Submit an order for new Casey’s cards in our next in-house order for physical cards, which is Monday, April 29th.
Our next in-house order for physical gift cards will be on Monday, April 29th. All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school or through the RaiseRight app by 8pm on the 29th will be included in the order. Orders should be ready for pick-up the following week.
Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Stop in at the school office on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our volunteer open hours from 9:00am – 11:00am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the school office or email it to the program coordinator. Our volunteers will fill your order on Tuesdays and Thursdays and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will be at Masses this Sunday, April 28th. ¡GRACIAS VOLUNTARIOS! La comunidad de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón no sería ni podría ser todo lo que es sin nuestros increíbles voluntarios. ¡Siempre estamos agradecidos por nuestros voluntarios, pero queremos darles un reconocimiento especial durante la Semana Nacional de Agradecimiento a los Voluntarios! Cada día, desde el momento en que se abren las puertas hasta que finaliza la última práctica deportiva, actividad, reunión o juego de la noche, los voluntarios nos ayudan de innumerables maneras. ¡No podemos agradecerles lo suficiente por todo lo que hacen para hacer de esta una comunidad maravillosa para nuestros estudiantes y familias! ¡Dios lo bendiga!
Quería tomarme un momento para expresar nuestra gratitud por su continuo apoyo con nuestro proceso de recojer a su estudiante por la tarde. Me complace informarles que todo está funcionando sin problemas y hemos podido garantizar la transición segura de todos los estudiantes sin ningún problema.
Sin embargo, le pido amablemente su ayuda para permanecer afuera cuando recoja a sus hijos. Algunos padres han estado entrando al gimnasio, lo que complica nuestros procedimientos. Nuestro procedimiento es llamar primero a algunos autos en la fila, seguidos por los niños cuyos padres se estacionaron y caminaron para recoger a sus hijos, antes de regresar a los autos. Si necesita recoger a su hijo antes de que llamemos al grupo sin cita previa, llegue antes de las 2:50 para que la oficina pueda ayudarlo a bajar temprano.
Al trabajar juntos para seguir estas pautas, hemos logrado consistentemente tener a todos los estudiantes subidos a los automóviles a las 3:18. Con su continua cooperación, creo que incluso podemos mejorar aún más esto.

TOTUS TUUS es un programa de catequesis de verano para jóvenes donde se combina instrucción religiosa católica y DIVERSIÓN !!! Un equipo de estudiantes universitarios y seminaristas vendrá a nuestra parroquia la semana del 16 al 21 de junio.
La juventud y energía de estos maestros es una forma inspiradora de compartir la fe y su entusiasmo es contagioso, ¡así que ven y únete a nosotros! TOTUS TUUS es de lunes a viernes de 9:00 a.m. a 2:30 p.m. Para los niños en edad escolar que irán a los grados 1-6. El día incluye instrucción catequética, canciones y parodias que son tontas pero enseñan cosas serias, encuentros con los sacramentos, particularmente la Confesión y la Eucaristía, y tiempo para juegos y recreo. Para los jóvenes de secundaria y preparatoria, TOTUS TUUS es de domingo a jueves de 7 a 8:30 pm con discusiones más profundas sobre el tema.
No hay ningún costo para las familias, pero estamos buscando personas que se ofrezcan como voluntarias para proporcionar cenas y donaciones monetarias para las otras comidas de los misioneros. ¡Les agradecemos a todos de antemano su generosidad habitual!

Por favor consideren rezar la Novena a San Isidoro en sus hogares del 7 al 15 de mayo. Esta es una oportunidad especial para rezar al Santo protector de la vida rural católica y de los agricultores estadounidenses. El compromiso de tiempo es de sólo 10 a 15 minutos por día. Marcha para la vida del Medio Oeste
Como parte de nuestro plan de estudios y servicio académico, nuestros estudiantes de séptimo grado realizarán una excursión el miércoles 1 de mayo. Se unirán a personas de todo el país en la Marcha por la Vida del Medio Oeste en Jefferson City, MO.
El aborto cobra la vida de millones de niños no nacidos cada año en los Estados Unidos. El propósito de esta excursión es brindarles a los estudiantes la oportunidad de unirse a cientos de jóvenes y adultos en una marcha y manifestación pacífica para apoyar la vida mientras escuchan diferentes oradores invitados, testimonios y apologéticas. Si está interesado en ser acompañante y está capacitado en Virtus, comuníquese con nosotros; ¡te necesitamos!
La información de ese día se muestra en la imagen de arriba. Llegaremos a tiempo para los anuncios previos al mitin y luego marcharemos. Además, tendremos tiempo para revisar los puestos de las diferentes organizaciones. Luego almorzamos y viajamos a Central Dairy.
Gracias por permitirme participar en la formación espiritual de su hijo. Creo que ese es el plan de Dios para colocarme donde estoy, ayudándolos a acercarse más al amor de Dios mientras me elevan a mí también en esta misión.

Dia de Vocaciones de sexto grado
El miércoles 1 de mayo, nuestros estudiantes de sexto grado se unirán a otros estudiantes de sexto grado de toda la Diócesis de Jefferson City para el Día Vocacional anual de sexto grado. Esta actividad se llevará a cabo en la Escuela Interparroquial Nuestra Señora de Lourdes en Columbia, MO.
¿Qué es el Día Vocacional de 6to Grado? Es un día divertido de oración, reflexión, charlas y debates para ayudar a los estudiantes a pensar en su futuro a la luz de la voluntad de Dios. Él tiene un plan para todos y cada uno de nosotros (una vocación) que debemos discernir y seguir con todo nuestro corazón. La voluntad de Dios nunca es el camino más fácil de seguir, pero sin duda es el único que nos da gozo eterno y marca el camino que debemos seguir para estar con Él en el cielo.
La Diócesis de Jefferson City organiza el Día Vocacional de 6to Grado, el cual tiene un propósito educativo. Como todas las demás actividades dentro de nuestro plan de estudios de Religión, los estudiantes están invitados a participar, ser respetuosos y divertirse.
Estoy buscando uno o dos acompañantes entrenados por Virtus. Si desea venir con nosotros y ayudar con el transporte y la supervisión, comuníquese conmigo.
Día Nacional de Oración
Juntos oramos por las personas que trabajan en las artes, los medios y el entretenimiento.
Oramos para que Dios pueda ayudar mucho en las artes, el entretenimiento y los medios mientras oramos fervientemente por todos los que usan el talento y los dones que Él les ha dado para competir, inspirarnos, entretenernos e informarnos. Oramos para que vean este hermoso mundo a través de los ojos de Dios y a través de Su corazón como Creador de todo lo que existe. Para los que escriben, que Él se revela como el Verbo que estaba en el principio con Dios, y era Dios que Creó el universo. Que comprendan el poder de las palabras y busquen que Él las elija con cuidado, veracidad, sabiduría, conocimiento y comprensión; construir y no derribar, hablar de vida y no de muerte. Oremos por quienes trabajan delante y detrás de las cámaras, pantallas, estadios y escenarios. Elevemos a quienes bailan, entrenan, compiten, pintan, esculpen y cantan con los dones y la belleza que Él ha derramado en ellos, mientras experimentan Su fuerza y esplendor a su alrededor y hacia ellos. Oremos para que vean y proyecten vida y amor a través de Su luz y lente. Vivir las vidas que Él ha escrito para ellos desde el principio hasta el fin en la tierra, mientras sienten y comparten destellos de los sonidos y las vistas del cielo que se les otorgan mientras buscan y crean a través de Él. Que vivan con humildad, indicando a su audiencia, fanáticos y seguidores de las redes sociales que vean a través de ellos y sigan a Dios.
A medida que la gente pobló la Tierra, Dios derramó talentos creativos en las personas para diferentes obras que los beneficiarían y glorificarían al Señor. Hoy en día, las personas con estos dones creativos conforman las esferas de las artes, el entretenimiento y los medios. El estadounidense promedio consume una cantidad asombrosa de medios cada día: televisión de entretenimiento, juegos digitales, redes sociales, noticias y música. Estas influencias dan forma a las cosas que pensamos, las palabras que decimos y la forma en que vemos a los demás y los tratamos. Se necesita oración para discernir qué influencias de los medios mantendrán las palabras de nuestra boca y las meditaciones de nuestro corazón aceptables y agradables a Dios. (Salmo 19:14)
Las personas que hacen programas de televisión, informan las noticias y actúan en programas necesitan nuestras oraciones. Están llenos de talentos y habilidades dados por Dios y necesitan que el Señor los guíe en el uso de sus dones para glorificarlo. Algunos necesitan experimentar el amor de Dios, mientras que otros necesitan una comunidad de fe que los rodee de apoyo. Miles de Cristianos que trabajan en las artes y el entretenimiento están luchando por infundir contenido saludable y edificante en nuestra cultura, mientras que los Cristianos en la esfera de los medios trabajan duro para honrar al Dios de la verdad a través de las noticias.
¡Las artes, el entretenimiento y los medios necesitan nuestras oraciones!
