Senior Spotlight – MEGAN AONZO
Megan is excited to announce that she will be attending the University of Missouri-Columbia in the fall! She wants to major in Psychology and minor in Spanish. She wants to become a Therapist and possibly a Psychiatrist in the future. She is also interested in medical research for mental health. She is looking forward to diving into psychology and all of the upper level courses she will be taking. She likes the idea of experiencing a larger school and being in Columbia. She is going to miss her friends, mom, and her cat, Mika, the most. We will miss you, Megan!
Senior Spotlight – JACKSON MANNING
Jackson will be attending Rockhurst University in the fall! He plans to major in mechanical engineering and will also be joining the soccer team. Go Hawks! Jackson is most looking forward to attending a smaller school in a big city and being in an environment that encourages his Catholic faith while in college. He likes the idea of living in the dorms and meeting new people that way, but is unsure about communal bathrooms. He will miss his teachers and friends from Sacred Heart the most. We are so proud of you, Jackson!
Senior Spotlight – GAVIN CALDWELL
Gavin is excited to announce that he will be attending State Fair Community College in the fall! Gavin plans to major in animal science and play baseball for the Roadrunners. He is most looking forward to being on his own for the first time and all the responsibility that comes with that. He will miss Sacred Heart and seeing his friends everyday the most. We will all miss you too, Gavin!
Senior Spotlight – REUBEN SMITH
Reuben is heading to Iowa State University in the fall! Reuben plans to major in mechanical engineering. He would like to work for an aerospace company in the future. He is most looking forward to meeting new people and rooming with his cousin from Minnesota. He is going to miss his friends and his mom’s cooking (especially her Asian meatballs). He is also going to miss being away from his twin sister, Shea. We are so proud of you, Reuben!
Spring Elementary Concert & Gremmy Awards – Save the Date
The Spring Elementary Concert and the Gremmy Awards are both scheduled for Wednesday, May 8th. Join us at 6:30pm for the Elementary Concert featuring our K-6th grade students and then at 7:30pm for the Gremmy Awards featuring our Junior High and High School choirs. XLT Adoration
What is one of the most common things you do with those you love? Spending time together, right? Well, that’s one of the things we do when we go to adoration. Some of the questions I get from students are if I get bored or how I managed to find something to do during XLT Adoration, and my answer to these or similar questions is always connected to love. When you love someone, you don’t mind spending time with that person. On the contrary, you look forward to it. Yes, during XLT Adoration, there are no “exciting” things like screens, TV shows, food, etc., but that is on purpose. Like everything else God does, XLT Adoration is a subtle experience that can bring little or huge benefits depending on our internal and external disposition. If we come with our hearts, minds, and souls prepared, we spend some minutes in front of the King of the Universe, to whom angels bow down in awe. In this scenario, we open our hearts to an unimaginable flow of love and grace that nobody can possibly describe. For that, though, we need faith. And yes, our faith is never as strong as we would like it to be. But guess what? Jesus loves us the way we are, and He is okay with that situation as long as we humbly come to Him and, like His disciples, ask Him to increase our faith. If we close our hearts, souls, and minds, though, XLT Adoration will turn into a pointless waste of time. You choose what way you go!
Diocesan Youth Summer Camps/Save the Date for Totus Tuus
Youth Camps provide overnight experiences where young people can grow in community through activities that inspire a deeper relationship with Jesus. Make sure you check out the webpage for more information for both attendees and parents. Totus Tuus is another great opportunity to keep your faith life active during summer. We are excited to celebrate the SHS Hall of Fame Class of 2024 on Saturday, April 13. The event is open to everyone! Please share with friends, family alumni, parishioners. The more the merrier!
We do charge for dinner to help us cover the meal expense ($25 adults | $12.50 Ages 10 -17; 9 and under are free.)

Now that Easter is over, summer is right around the corner. It’s not too early to start making plans for summer travel and activities to keep the kids busy once they are out of school. Our next in-house order for physical gift cards will be on Monday, April 15th. All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school or through the RaiseRight app by 8pm on the 15th will be included in the order. Orders should be ready for pick-up the following week.
Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Stop in at the school office on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our volunteer open hours from 9:00am – 11:00am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the school office or email it to the program coordinator. Our volunteers will fill your order on Tuesdays and Thursdays and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will be at all Masses this Sunday, April 14th. Spotlight de Senior- MEGAN AONZO
¡Megan se complace en anunciar que asistirá a la Universidad de Missouri-Columbia en el otoño! Quiere especializarse en Psicología y especializarse en español. Quiere ser terapeuta y posiblemente psiquiatra en el futuro. También está interesada en la investigación médica para la salud mental. Espera sumergirse en la psicología y en todos los cursos de nivel superior que tomará. A ella le gusta la idea de experimentar una escuela más grande y estar en Columbia. Ella va a extrañar más a sus amigas, a su mamá y a su gato, Mika. ¡Te extrañaremos, Megan!
Spotlight de Senior- JACKSON MANNING
¡Jackson asistirá a la Universidad Rockhurst en el otoño! Planea especializarse en ingeniería mecánica y también se unirá al equipo de fútbol. ¡Vamos Hawks! Concierto de primavera de primaria y premios Gremmy: Reserve la fecha
El Concierto de Primavera de la Primaria y los Premios Gremmy están programados para el miércoles 8 de mayo. Adoracion XLT
¿Cuál es una de las cosas más comunes que haces con tus seres queridos? Pasar tiempo juntos, ¿verdad? Bueno, esa es una de las cosas que hacemos cuando vamos a la adoración. Algunas de las preguntas que recibo de los estudiantes son si me aburro o cómo logré encontrar algo que hacer durante la Adoración XLT, y mi respuesta a estas preguntas similares siempre está relacionada con el amor. Cuando amas a alguien, no te importa pasar tiempo con esa persona. Al contrario, lo esperas con ansias. Sí, durante XLT Adoration no hay cosas “emocionantes” como pantallas, programas de televisión, comida, etc., pero eso es a propósito. Como todo lo que hace Dios, la Adoración XLT es una experiencia sutil que puede traer pequeños o grandes beneficios dependiendo de nuestra disposición interna y externa. Si venimos con el corazón, la mente y el alma preparados, pasamos unos minutos frente al Rey del Universo, ante quien los ángeles se inclinan con asombro. En este escenario, abrimos nuestros corazones a un flujo inimaginable de amor y gracia que nadie puede describir. Pero para eso necesitamos fe. Y sí, nuestra fe nunca es tan fuerte como nos gustaría que fuera. ¿Pero adivina que? Jesús nos ama tal como somos, y está de acuerdo con esa situación siempre y cuando humildemente acudamos a Él y, como Sus discípulos, le pidamos que aumente nuestra fe. Sin embargo, si cerramos nuestros corazones, almas y mentes, XLT Adoration se convertirá en una pérdida de tiempo. ¡Tú eliges qué camino tomar!
Campamentos de verano para jóvenes diocesanos/Reserve la fecha para Totus Tuus
Los campamentos juveniles brindan experiencias nocturnas donde los jóvenes pueden crecer en comunidad a través de actividades que inspiran una relación más profunda con Jesús. Asegúrese de visitar la página web para obtener más información tanto para los asistentes como para los padres. Totus Tuus es otra gran oportunidad para mantener activa tu vida de fe durante el verano. Se llevará a cabo del 16 al 21 de junio. Asegúrate de reservar la fecha.
