Catholic Schools Week, initiated in 1974 by the National Catholic Educational Association, emphasizes the invaluable benefits of Catholic education. Under the theme “Catholic Schools: United in Faith and Community,” we are reminded of the strength of our shared commitment to faith and community. Our vibrant school is truly blessed, and we owe it to our supportive community, fabulous families, dedicated staff members, and outstanding students. Throughout this week, we look forward to showcasing Sacred Heart School’s excellence and its positive impact on our students’ lives.

Homecoming “The Gremlin Beat” was a Success

  

Our 2024 winter homecoming queen was Miss Mariah Van Leer, escorted by Reuben Smith. The other candidates were Emily Hesse, escorted by Connor Rice, Shea Smith, escorted by George Bain IV, Faithlynn Parks, escorted by Bryan Tienda, and Olivia Dobson, escorted by George Perez III.

The Student Council did a wonderful job planning and hosting the 2024 winter pep rally and homecoming week! It would not have been possible without everyone’s hard work.

4th Grade Saint Project

The 4th grade classes decided to turn their Saint research project into a textbook with the help of a company called Student Treasures. The teachers are summiting the student reports along with a photo of themselves dressed up as their saint. Each classroom will receive a free copy of the book with all the reports and photos. Parents are able to purchase any additional books they want for home or for gifts. This was a wonderful opportunity for the students to research and share information with their peers. There have been several 4th grade  saints at school lately! (The photos included will be used on the cover of each book.)

Knights of Columbus Free Throw Contest

Catholic Schools Week kicked off on Sunday, January 27th, with 24 participants in the 2024 Knights of Columbus Free Throw Competition sponsored by Sedalia Council #831.

Congratulations to each of the age division champions. They will advance to the district contest on Sunday, February 4th at St. Andrew’s School in Tipton. The winners included:

Adrian Speech Results

On January 27th, the Sacred Heart Speech team competed at  the Adrian Invitational. In Duo Interpretation, Logan Howell and Anthony Sierra placed 5th. In Humorous Interpretation, Sophie Anderson placed 2nd and Olivia Dillon placed 5th. In Duet Acting, Sarah Hill and Laysha Lopez placed 2nd and Sophie Anderson and Anthony Sierra placed 3rd. In Storytelling Sophie Anderson placed 1st! In Dramatic Interpretation Anthony Sierra placed 4th. In Radio Speaking Lex Owens placed 2nd, Dakota Williams placed 4th and Mary Butner placed 5th. You continue to work hard and to show the world what it means to be Sacred Heart. Go Grems!

8th-Grade AOG

On Thursday, January 25th, the 8th graders received the Armor of God (AOG) in the form of the book Theology of Her Body / Theology of His Body. This book is meant to feed teens with liberating answers to their most pressing questions about love and sexuality, offering solid, relevant teachings that will help them achieve the greatness for which they were created. This book is especially important nowadays, where the vocation to married life is often forgotten. As a result, many young students in our society don’t know who they are or who and what they are meant to be for one another. While reading this book, our students will be encouraged to not only learn the truth about their own bodies but also to discover the beauty of the opposite sex, for it is in seeing the complementarity of the two sexes that one discovers the real meaning of his or her own body.

Carter Rice Career Milestone

In an exhilarating matchup against the Clinton Cardinals on January 18th, the Gremlins hosted the rescheduled homecoming and witnessed a remarkable feat on the court. The night was filled with excitement as Senior Carter Rice showcased his impeccable skills, reaching a significant milestone by scoring his 1000th career point. Join us in reliving the excitement of that night and celebrating the outstanding accomplishment of Senior Carter Rice. Here’s to more victories and milestones ahead!

JH Basketball Teams Place in the Sacred Heart JH Invitational Tournament

Another JH Gremlin Basketball Invitational is in the books! Game recaps are in the works, but we couldn’t wait to give a shout-out to our teams! 1st place for the boys and 2nd place for our girls! Thanks to Northwest, Tipton, La Monte, and St. Peter Catholic for participating in this fun weekend. Special thanks to our maintenance team, coaches, refs, fans, volunteers, and parents who make this event possible!

Sacred Heart Head Baseball Coach Nick Brashears Receives Award

Coach Brashears was recognized by the Missouri High School Baseball Coaches Association at their annual awards banquet on Saturday, January 20th. The ceremony was hosted at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and Convention Center. The award recognizes those who won their district championship and the winners of the sectionals game. Coach Brashear said, “I’m not big on personal recognition for me as a coach. This award means a lot to me, though, because it’s a reminder of how special of a team we had and all the great things we accomplished in just one short season together. Looking forward to this coming season, I’m just excited to see new faces, get back to work, and see what great things we can accomplish this year!”

RaiseRight 2023 Rebates!!

With January on the downhill slide, we are almost ready to distribute rebates for the 2023 calendar year. We will finish up our reports by the end of the month. Look for your rebates to be paid out sometime in the beginning of February. Like last year, we will email each family with details on the rebates they earned throughout the year. Watch out for an email in the first couple of weeks of February with this information. If you’re not sure we have a current email address for you, contact the program coordinator at scrip@gogremlins.com to ensure you receive your rebate notification.

What are you waiting for if you haven’t started using the program yet? It’s never been easier to earn $$$ to use on tuition. Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Stop in at the school office on Tuesdays and Thursdays during our volunteer open hours from 9:00am – 11:00am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the school office or email it to the program coordinator. Our volunteers will fill your order on Tuesdays and Thursdays and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. Come visit our table then to see what cards we have in stock. Questions? Queridas familias del Sagrado Corazón,

Esta semana marca una celebración especial para nuestra querida escuela Católica y lo invitamos a unirse a nosotros para reconocer los increíbles esfuerzos de nuestros maestros, personal, voluntarios, sacerdotes y administradores. Su más sincero agradecimiento es de gran ayuda para reconocer su dedicación a la misión de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón.

La Semana de las Escuelas Católicas, inició en 1974 por la Asociación Nacional de Educación Católica, enfatiza los invaluables beneficios de la educación Católica. Bajo el tema “Escuelas Católicas: Unidas en la fe y la comunidad”, se nos recuerda la fuerza de nuestro compromiso compartido con la fe y la comunidad. Nuestra vibrante escuela es verdaderamente bendecida y se lo debemos a nuestra comunidad solidaria, familias fabulosas, miembros del personal dedicados y estudiantes sobresalientes. A lo largo de esta semana, esperamos mostrar la excelencia de la Escuela Sagrado Corazón y su impacto positivo en la vida de nuestros estudiantes.

Homecoming “The Gremlin Beat” fue un éxito

  

Nuestra reina de Homecoming de invierno de 2024 fue la señorita Mariah Van Leer, acompañada por Reuben Smith. Los otros candidatos fueron Emily Hesse, escoltada por Connor Rice, Shea Smith, escoltada por George Bain IV, Faithlynn Parks, escoltada por Bryan Tienda, y Olivia Dobson, escoltada por George Pérez III.

¡El Consejo Estudiantil hizo un trabajo maravilloso al planificar y organizar la reunión de motivación y la semana de homecoming de invierno de 2024! No hubiera sido posible sin el duro trabajo de todos.

Proyecto Santo de 4to Grado

Las clases de cuarto grado decidieron convertir su proyecto de investigación de Santos en un libro de texto con la ayuda de una empresa llamada Student Treasures. Los profesores recogen los informes de los alumnos junto con una foto de ellos mismos disfrazados de su Santo. Cada salón recibirá una copia gratuita del libro con todos los informes y fotografías. Los padres pueden comprar cualquier libro adicional que quieran para el hogar o para regalar. Esta fue una maravillosa oportunidad para que los estudiantes investigaran y compartieran información con sus compañeros. ¡Últimamente ha habido varios Santos de cuarto grado en la escuela! (Las fotografías incluidas se utilizarán en la portada de cada libro).

Concurso de tiros libres de Caballeros de Colón

La Semana de las Escuelas Católicas comenzó el domingo 27 de enero con 24 participantes en la Competencia de Tiro Libre de Caballeros de Colón 2024 patrocinada por el Consejo Sedalia #831.

Felicitaciones a cada uno de los campeones de la división de edades. Avanzarán al concurso del distrito el domingo 4 de febrero en la escuela St. Andrew ‘s en Tipton. Los ganadores incluyeron:

El 27 de enero, el equipo de Discurso del Sagrado Corazón compitió en el Adrian Invitational. En interpretación en dúo, Logan Howell y Anthony Sierra quedaron en quinto lugar. En interpretación humorística, Sophie Anderson quedó en segundo lugar y Olivia Dillon en quinto lugar. En actuación a dúo, Sarah Hill y Laysha Lopez quedaron en segundo lugar y Sophie Anderson y Anthony Sierra quedaron en tercer lugar. ¡En Storytelling, Sophie Anderson quedó en primer lugar! En Interpretación Dramática Anthony Sierra quedó en cuarto lugar. En Radio Speaking, Lex Owens quedó en segundo lugar, Dakota Williams en cuarto lugar y Mary Butner en quinto lugar. AOG de octavo grado

El jueves 25 de enero los alumnos de 8º grado recibieron la Armadura de Dios (AOG) en forma de libro.

Teología de su Cuerpo. Este libro está destinado a brindar a los adolescentes respuestas liberadoras a sus preguntas más apremiantes sobre el amor y la sexualidad, ofreciéndoles enseñanzas sólidas y relevantes que los ayudarán a alcanzar la grandeza para la que fueron creados. Este libro es especialmente importante hoy en día, donde a menudo se olvida la vocación a la vida matrimonial. Como resultado, muchos jóvenes estudiantes de nuestra sociedad no saben quiénes son o quiénes y qué deben ser unos para otros. Al leer este libro, nuestros estudiantes se sentirán animados no sólo a aprender la verdad sobre sus propios cuerpos sino también a descubrir la belleza del sexo opuesto, porque es al ver la complementariedad de los dos sexos que uno descubre el verdadero significado de su o su propio cuerpo.

Hito de la carrera de Carter Rice

En un emocionante enfrentamiento contra los Clinton Cardinals el 18 de enero, los Gremlins organizaron homecoming reprogramado y fueron testigos de una hazaña notable en la cancha. La noche estuvo llena de emoción cuando el estudiante del 12 º grado Carter Rice mostró sus impecables habilidades, alcanzando un hito importante al anotar el punto número 1000 de su carrera. Únase a nosotros para revivir la emoción de esa noche y celebrar el logro sobresaliente del estudiante del 12 º grado Carter Rice. ¡Por más victorias e hitos por delante!

Se están preparando resúmenes de juegos, ¡pero estábamos ansiosos por felicitar a nuestros equipos! ¡1er lugar para los chicos y 2do lugar para nuestras chicas! Nick Brashears, entrenador principal de béisbol del Sagrado Corazón, recibe premio

El entrenador Brashears fue reconocido por la Asociación de Entrenadores de Béisbol de Escuelas Secundarias de Missouri en su banquete anual de premios el sábado 20 de enero. La ceremonia se celebró en el Hotel y Centro de Convenciones Capitol Plaza. El premio reconoce a quienes ganaron el campeonato distrital y a los ganadores del juego seccional. El entrenador Brashear dijo: “No me gusta mucho el reconocimiento personal como entrenador. Sin embargo, este premio significa mucho para mí porque es un recordatorio de lo especial que era el equipo que teníamos y de todas las grandes cosas que logramos juntos en tan solo una corta temporada. Esperando con ansias la próxima temporada, estoy emocionado de ver caras nuevas, volver al trabajo y ver qué grandes cosas podemos lograr este año”.
