Greetings Everyone,

We are in the midst of some of the happiest days of every school year!  Senior awards, baccalaureate mass, senior commencement, 8th grade and preschool graduations and all types of last days of school celebrations.  What a happy, joyful time.  Special congratulations to all of our graduates and their wonderful parents!

There is one aspect of this time of year that is somewhat more difficult.  That is saying goodbye to old friends and wonderful members of the Sacred Heart family.  There are three women who really stand out this year.  Although these three ladies will no longer be working at Sacred Heart School, they will always be important members of the Sacred Heart family.

Mrs. Marlo (Boots ‘91) Siron is going to be continuing in her valued role of volleyball mom as she follows Emma’s career as a member of the UCM volleyball program.  Mrs. Siron has been a member of our faculty serving in a variety of capacities since the 1997-98 school year.  She has made her mark as a teacher, a counselor, a coach, and the technology coordinator.  What she is most responsible for is her ingenuity in leading SHS into the age of technology.  She has been a master at finding ways for Sacred Heart School students to have access to technology and technology education with the school operating on a shoestring budget!

Mrs. Jeannine Dove came to us as our kindergarten teacher in the fall of 1995.  What a blessing she has been to students, families and colleagues alike!  She has been positively impacting lives and getting our children’s school careers off to a wonderful start for the past 28 years.  She will be expanding her Grandma role significantly in the years to come.  We are extremely grateful to Mrs. Dove and very happy for her!

Another wonderful lady looking to expand her Grandma role is Mrs. Esther DeGraff.  Mrs. DeGraff has been serving as school secretary and as my administrative assistant for the past 26 years. She is bright and efficient but, more importantly, she has always treated our students, employees, parents, and parishioners with kindness and compassion. She was often the first contact people had with our school in her role as a secretary and I can’t think of a better way to make a first impression than to have Esther DeGraff speaking on our behalf!

Ladies, you are loved and you will be greatly missed!  God bless you!

URGENT UPDATE ON THE LOCATION AND TIME OF 8th GRADE GRADUATION

As a result of the Baseball team winning Districts and moving onto Sectionals, 8th Grade Graduation will now start at 7:30pm on Monday, May 22nd. The location will also move to St. Patrick Chapel since there is no AC at Sacred Heart Chapel and we are expecting warm temperatures on Monday. The reception will immediately follow graduation in the St. Patrick Hall/Basement. Thank you for your understanding of these changes, which allow us to support not only our 8th grade graduates, but also our HS baseball team. We are ONE, Go Gremlins!!

Senior Spotlight – OSVALDO MARTINEZ-GARCIA

Osvaldo Martinez-Garcia is heading to the University of Missouri-Kansas City in the Fall!  Oz would like to major in Finance and Business Management.  He is excited about living in a big city and the possibility of being a walk on for the UMKC soccer team.  Oz says that he will miss his family and his classmates the most!

• Tuition meetings have moved back to the business office, which is located at 240 S. Moniteau.

• Please NOTE if you do not have an appointment scheduled, by June 1, 2023, the enrollment processing fee becomes $300.  These are non-refundable fees and will NOT be applied to tuition.

Student Council Thanks You!

Student Council is excited to unveil our latest project thanks to Ximena Lopez and Mrs. Marlo Siron. We now have monitors throughout the school that are displaying upcoming events, celebrations, and lots of photos! We are so grateful for your support of the Gremlin Student Store to help make this project possible.

Dr. Register, in a word, “Thank you!”

What words come to mind when you think of “Doctor Mark Register?”  Over my 20 years of knowing him, ministering with him in many capacities and the last four as pastor, there are many excellent attributes I see in him and words to use to describe him: Amazing titles he lives so well…

Man of God – he is a daily Mass participant and even when we traveled to conferences he would be the one to check for the nearest Catholic Church and daily mass schedule.

Husband – to his wonderful bride, Julie.  Let’s never forget to offer her gratitude for the sacrifices she offered so he could give his life career to Sacred Heart!

Dad – God blessed him and Julie with children who grew up to be amazing adults – a treasure due to his dedication to his own children.

Doctor in Education – if you strive for the best, why not get the highest degree to do the ministry God has called you to do and to serve in so faithfully.

Administrator – from leading the school with one part time assistant to growing the administrative team over the years to president, principal, dean of students and a team of dedicated support staff and an amazing faculty.

Teacher – modeled from the good teacher we hear about in Sacred Scripture, Jesus the one master and teacher.  For showing students Christ in the way he shows them care, love and respect.  “I called you by name.” A talent surpassed by no one at the school.

Coach – Getting to know students and their parents in a role that has more influence over children than any other adults in the life of the modern child, passionate, caring, drive, fortitude and a huge desire for them to win on the court but more importantly in life in all that God has in store for them.

These words are titles: there are so many gifts Dr. Register excels in that allows him to be the leader of Sacred Heart School so effectively. I think, as his pastor, I would say they are summed up in the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit he received at Confirmation and then acted upon all of his life:

Wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord.

Dr. Register, thank you for your untiring unwavering commitment to Sacred Heart School, your parish and to the God you love and serve. Thank you for your service as our coach, teacher, principal and president over your first and second tenure with us. To the readers, as you finish reading this, please pray an “Our Father” for Dr. Register in thanksgiving for all he has done for us. Then, commit to keeping him, his family and our school in your daily prayers.

Graduation with Gratitude!

As you read this, our pre-school children and families have already enjoyed their graduation. This weekend, Seniors are having an eventful day with Baccalaureate this evening and graduation on Sunday and the 8th graders become Freshmen after their graduation on Monday evening. All of these milestones are opportunities for us to look back and give thanks to God for all He has given and done for us. There will be much more, rightfully so, in the upcoming Beats about our graduates and graduations. Today, I just ask us as we celebrate these milestones, pause, soak in the moments and give thanks to God as you speak and listen to him about these past years. And, thank him for what He has in store for you and take the next steps together.

St. Vincent de Paul Parish Picnic

Corpus Christi Procession & First Communicants

 

On Sunday, June 11th, we invite you and your family to walk in the Eucharistic procession for Corpus Christi Sunday. Students and families will gather at the main doors of St. Patrick’s church at 12:15 pm. Students who have recently received First Communion are encouraged to dress in their First Communion outfits. There will be volunteers there to show the First Communion Class and their families where to be in the procession. We will begin the procession at St Patrick’s Chapel immediately after the 11:30 am Mass, so that is why we need you at St Patrick at 12:15 pm. Our parish community will sing and pray while we walk downtown and return to St Patrick Chapel for our annual Parish Picnic. Everyone in our parish community is invited to attend both the procession and the parish picnic. We hope you will be able to join us for this amazing experience!

SIGN UP FOR Totus Tuus June 18-23

Totus Tuus is back again this year! Last year was the best to date and we want to repeat that again!

“My kids have loved the opportunity to come to Totus Tuus. They have mentioned the fun games and skits. We appreciate this being offered. Great Job!” – from a parent’s perspective.

On Tuesday Junior, Luke Jenkins placed 2nd in state for boys golf and Sophomore, Zander Jackson had his first appearance at state and T65th out of 120+ golfers! Way to go guys!

It’s not too late to use RaiseRight to give end of year teacher gifts. We have gift cards to fit most budgets that are perfect end of year teacher gifts, from low denomination gift cards for restaurants to $25 Visa, Walmart, or Amazon gift cards. Let us help you with your gift giving!

This just in! There was so much positive feedback on the $25 McDonald’s gift cards, we’ve decided to ADD them to the inventory we keep on hand going forward. This means from now on you’ll be able to choose between three options for denomination on McDonald’s gift cards: $5, $10, and $25.

Our next in-house order for physical gift cards will be Monday, May 29th. All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school, or through the RaiseRight app by 8pm, on the 29th will be included in the order. Orders should be ready for pick-up the following week.

Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Come in during our volunteer open hours on Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am – 11am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the office or email it to the program coordinator. Our volunteers will fill your order and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will not be at Masses this weekend. We will be back at all Sunday Masses weekend on May 28th. PKSA/REVOLUTION FC Soccer Camp is a fantastic camp for a great price. The camp takes place at Clover Dell Park, June 28th through July 1st from 6:00pm-8:00pm each night. We offer a group rotation where each group spends time with different coaches. Saludos a todos,

¡Estamos en medio de algunos de los días más felices de cada año escolar! Premiación de seniors, misa de bachillerato, graduación de seniors, graduaciones de 8vo grado y preescolar y todo tipo de celebraciones de últimos días de clases. Qué tiempo tan feliz y alegre. ¡Felicitaciones especiales a todos nuestros graduados y sus maravillosos padres!

Hay un aspecto de esta época del año que es algo más difícil. Eso es decir adiós a viejos amigos y maravillosos miembros de la familia del Sagrado Corazón. Hay tres mujeres que realmente se destacan este año. Aunque estas tres damas ya no trabajarán en la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón, siempre serán miembros importantes de la familia del Sagrado Corazón.

Sra. Marlo (Boots ’91) Siron continuará en su valioso papel de madre de voleibol mientras sigue la carrera de Emma como miembro del programa de voleibol de la UCM. La Sra. Siron ha sido miembro de nuestra facultad sirviendo en una variedad de capacidades desde el año escolar 1997-98. Ha dejado su huella como maestra, consejera, entrenadora y coordinadora de tecnología. De lo que es más responsable es de su ingenio para llevar a SHS a la era de la tecnología. ¡Ha sido una maestra en encontrar formas para que los estudiantes de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón tengan acceso a la tecnología y la educación tecnológica con la escuela operando con un presupuesto reducido!

La Sra. Jeannine Dove llegó a nosotros como maestra de kindergarten en el otoño de 1995. ¡Qué bendición ha sido para los estudiantes, las familias y los colegas por igual! Ella ha tenido un impacto positivo en las vidas y ha logrado que las carreras escolares de nuestros hijos tengan un comienzo maravilloso durante los últimos 28 años. Otra mujer maravillosa que busca ampliar su papel de abuela es la Sra. Esther DeGraff. La Sra. Es brillante y eficiente pero, lo que es más importante, siempre ha tratado a nuestros estudiantes, empleados, padres y feligreses con amabilidad y compasión. A menudo, ella era el primer contacto que la gente tenía con nuestra escuela en su papel de secretaria y no puedo pensar en una mejor manera de causar una primera impresión que tener a Esther DeGraff hablando en nuestro nombre.

ACTUALIZACIÓN URGENTE SOBRE EL LUGAR Y LA HORA DE LA GRADUACIÓN DE OCTAVO GRADO

Como resultado de que el equipo de béisbol ganó distritos y pasó a las seccionales, la graduación de octavo grado ahora comenzará a las 7:30 pm el lunes 22 de mayo. La ubicación también se trasladará a la Capilla de San Patricio ya que no hay aire acondicionado en la Capilla del Sagrado Corazón y esperamos temperaturas cálidas el lunes. La recepción seguirá inmediatamente a la graduación en el sótano de la Capilla de San Patricio. Gracias por su comprensión de estos cambios, que nos permiten apoyar no solo a nuestros graduados de octavo grado, sino también a nuestro equipo de béisbol de preparatoria. ¡¡Somos UNO, Vamos Gremlins!!

Enfoque Senior- OSVALDO MARTINEZ-GARCIA

¡Osvaldo Martínez-García se dirige a la Universidad de Missouri-Kansas City en el otoño! A Oz le gustaría especializarse en Finanzas y Administración de Empresas. Está entusiasmado por vivir en una gran ciudad y la posibilidad de ser un paso adelante para el equipo de fútbol de UMKC. ¡Oz dice que extrañará más a su familia y a sus compañeros de clase!

El Consejo Estudiantil ¡Le da las gracias!

El Consejo Estudiantil se complace en presentar nuestro último proyecto gracias a Ximena López y la Sra. Marlo Siron. ¡Ahora tenemos monitores en toda la escuela que muestran los próximos eventos, celebraciones y muchas fotos! Estamos muy agradecidos por su apoyo a la tienda estudiantil Gremlin para ayudar a que este proyecto sea posible.

Dr. Register, en una palabra, “¡Gracias!”

¿Qué palabras le vienen a la mente cuando piensa en “Doctor Mark Register”? Durante mis 20 años de conocerlo, ministrando con él en muchas capacidades y los últimos cuatro como pastor, hay muchos atributos excelentes que veo en él y palabras que uso para describirlo: Títulos asombrosos que vive tan bien…

Hombre de Dios–: participa en la misa diaria e incluso cuando viajábamos a conferencias, él era el que verificaba la iglesia católica más cercana y el horario de misas diarias.

Esposo– a su maravillosa novia, Julie. ¡Nunca olvidemos ofrecerle su gratitud por los sacrificios que ofreció para que él pudiera dar su carrera de vida al Sagrado Corazón!

Papá–  Dios lo bendijo a él y a Julie con niños que crecieron y se convirtieron en adultos increíbles: un tesoro debido a su dedicación a sus propios hijos.

Doctor en Educación–  si se esfuerza por lograr lo mejor, ¿por qué no obtener el título más alto para hacer el ministerio que Dios lo ha llamado a hacer y servir tan fielmente?

Administrador–  desde dirigir la escuela con un asistente de medio tiempo hasta hacer crecer el equipo administrativo a lo largo de los años hasta llegar a presidente, director, decano de estudiantes y un equipo de personal de apoyo dedicado y una facultad increíble.

Maestro–  inspirado en el buen maestro del que escuchamos en la Sagrada Escritura, Jesús, el único maestro y maestro. Por mostrar a los estudiantes a Cristo en la forma en que les muestra cuidado, amor y respeto. “Te llamé por tu nombre”. Un talento superado por nadie en la escuela.

Entrenador-  llegar a conocer a los estudiantes y a sus padres en un rol que tiene más influencia sobre los niños que cualquier otro adulto en la vida del niño moderno, apasionado, cariñoso, impulso, fortaleza y un gran deseo de que ganen en la cancha, pero más importante en la vida en todo lo que Dios tiene reservado para ellos.

Estas palabras son títulos: hay tantos dones en los que el Dr. Register se destaca que le permiten ser el líder de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón de manera tan efectiva. Creo que, como su pastor, diría que se resumen en los siete dones del Espíritu Santo que recibió en la Confirmación y luego actuó durante toda su vida:

Sabiduría, entendimiento, consejo, fortaleza, conocimiento, piedad y temor del Señor.

¡Graduación con Gratitud!

Mientras leen esto, nuestros niños de preescolar y sus familias ya han disfrutado de su graduación. Este fin de semana, los estudiantes de último año tendrán un día lleno de acontecimientos con el bachillerato esta noche y la graduación el domingo y los estudiantes de 8.° grado se convertirán en estudiantes de noveno grado después de su graduación el lunes por la noche. Todos estos hitos son oportunidades para que miremos hacia atrás y demos gracias a Dios por todo lo que ha dado y hecho por nosotros. Habrá mucho más, con razón, en los próximos Beats sobre nuestros graduados y graduaciones. Hoy, solo les pido que, mientras celebramos estos hitos, hagamos una pausa, nos sumerjamos en los momentos y demos gracias a Dios al hablar y escuchar sobre estos últimos años. Y agradézcale lo que tiene reservado para usted y den juntos los siguientes pasos.

Procesión del Corpus Christi y primeros comunicantes

 

El domingo 11 de junio te invitamos a usted y a su familia a caminar en la procesión eucarística del domingo de Corpus Christi. Los estudiantes y las familias se reunirán en las puertas principales de la iglesia de San Patricio a las 12:15 pm. Se anima a los estudiantes que han recibido recientemente la Primera Comunión a vestirse con sus trajes de Primera Comunión. Habrá voluntarios allí para mostrar a la Clase de Primera Comunión ya sus familias dónde estar en la procesión. Comenzaremos la procesión en la Capilla de San Patricio inmediatamente después de la misa de las 11:30 am, por eso lo necesitamos en San Patricio a las 12:15. Nuestra comunidad parroquial cantará y rezará mientras caminamos hacia el centro y regresamos a la Capilla de San Patricio para nuestro Picnic Parroquial anual. Todos en nuestra comunidad parroquial están invitados a asistir tanto a la procesión como al picnic parroquial. ¡Esperamos que pueda unirse a nosotros en esta increíble experiencia!

PKSA/Revolution FC Soccer será del 26 al 29 de junio de 6:00 pm a 8:00 pm en Clover Dell Park

El campamento de fútbol PKSA/REVOLUTION FC es un campamento fantástico por un excelente precio. Es la época del año en que todos los entrenadores de nuestras escuelas preparatorias, universidades y clubes locales se unen para brindar una maravillosa oportunidad de aprendizaje para los jóvenes de nuestra comunidad. El campamento se lleva a cabo en Clover Dell Park, del 28 de junio al 1 de julio de 6:00 pm a 8:00 pm todas las noches. Ofrecemos una rotación de grupos donde cada grupo pasa tiempo con diferentes entrenadores.
