A Lenten Prayer

Dear Jesus, Son of God, for our sake you fasted forty days and allowed yourself to be tempted. Protect us so that we may not be led astray by temptation as we continue on our Lenten journey.  Since man does not live by bread alone, nourish our souls with the heavenly food of your Word; through your mercy, O our God, you are blessed and live and govern all things, now and forever. Amen.

Loving God,

During the sacred season of Lent, bring us closer to you.  Prepare a place in our homes and hearts for silence and solitude, so that we may re-discover the grace of a prayerful life.

Help us to fast from those things that threaten the well-being of body and soul and remind us of the grace of simplicity.  Enlarge our hearts so that we give to those in need and, in so doing, re-discover the grace of gratitude and generosity.

May this season be a grace-filled time to rekindle our love for you and our true faith in you.  AMEN.
