Good Afternoon Everyone,
It sure was a “smart move” by so many to attend Saturday’s SHS Foundation Battle of the Brains night. It was a close race but Team “Let’s Get Quizzical” rallied ahead of “Good Tryers” to take home the victory. In Mardi Gras style, we lived it up before Lent! We celebrated all of the wonderful progress we’ve made in 2022 and our 2023 Annual Fund Drive is off to a great start. Thank you to everyone involved in this fun and successful event.
This is just the beginning of our Annual Fund Drive effort for 2023 so stay tuned for more opportunities to help us reach our goal of $250,000. This work is so vital for the long term health and vitality of our school. Together, we are moving the mission forward!
It is high school basketball district tournament week. Both teams are in the semifinal round at this writing. The boys take on the Tipton Cardinals in Lincoln on Wed. at 7:30. The girls are in Tipton this week. They take on the winner of tonight’s Sweet Springs-Tipton game at 5:30 on Thursday.

Celebration of Kindness
A big thank you to the Student Council (STUCO) for helping us all to celebrate a week of intentional kindness towards one another. The STUCO members shared daily tips on the morning announcements, posted signs, and spread words of encouragement all week. Friday morning students were greeted with candy and compliments!
Ragtime Festival Comes to SHS
On Wednesday, February 8th, our elementary students attended a Ragtime Festival in honor of Scott Joplin. They learned about the history of Ragtime music, and one of our local historic figures. A fun time was had by all who attended.
Adrian Speech Results
The Sacred Heart Speech Team competed at The Adrian Invitational Speech Tournament on Saturday, February 18th with great success.

APC Thanks to Seniors
Congratulations to the seniors for selling the most APC discount cards, per student, in the highschool. As a thank you for their hard work, APC provided a Blizzard party for the seniors on Friday, February 17th. This year our students and families helped raise a total of almost $13,000 during our APC Discount Card/Win-Win Card fundraiser. Way to go Gremlins!!

Armour of God – Third Grade
Last week the third-grade students received the Scapular, as part of their Armour of God. Saint John Paul II explained that two truths are evoked by the sign of the Scapular: on the one hand, the constant protection of the Blessed Virgin, not only on life’s journey, but also at the moment of passing into the fullness of eternal glory; on the other, the awareness that devotion to her cannot be limited to prayers and tributes in her honor on certain occasions, but must become a “habit,” that is, a permanent orientation of one’s own Christian conduct, woven of prayer and interior life. It is important, then, to wear the Scapular with love and devotion, knowing that our Mother Mary is always giving us her protection. Sacred Heart School President Search
Since 1882, Sacred Heart School has been committed to formation in the Catholic faith, academic achievement, and the development of the whole person. Serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade, Sacred Heart is the mission of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Sedalia, Missouri.

When you purchase a physical gift card through our RaiseRight program, and load it into your wallet on the RaiseRight app, you can reload money onto the card anytime you need to get gas. It’s so easy!!
Our next in house order for physical gift cards will be Monday, February 27th. All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school, or through the RaiseRight app by 8pm, on the 27th will be included in the order. Orders should be ready for pick-up the following week.
Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Come in during our volunteer open hours on Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am – 11am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the office or email it to the program coordinator. Buenas tardes a todos,
Seguro que fue un “movimiento inteligente” por parte de tantos asistir a la noche del sábado de la Batalla de cerebros de la Fundación SHS. Fue una carrera reñida, pero el equipo “Let’s Get Quizzical” superó a “Good Tryers” para llevarse a casa la victoria. ¡Al estilo Mardi Gras, lo vivimos antes de la Cuaresma! Celebramos todo el maravilloso progreso que hemos logrado en 2022 y nuestra campaña anual de recaudación de fondos de 2023 ha tenido un gran comienzo. Gracias a todos los involucrados en este divertido y exitoso evento.
Este es solo el comienzo de nuestro esfuerzo anual de recaudación de fondos para 2023, así que esté atento a más oportunidades para ayudarnos a alcanzar nuestra meta de $250,000. Es la semana del torneo del distrito de baloncesto de la escuela preparatoria. Ambos equipos están en la ronda semifinal al momento de escribir este artículo. Los muchachos se enfrentan a los Tipton Cardinals en Lincoln el miércoles. a las 7:30. Las chicas están en Tipton esta semana. Se enfrentarán al ganador del juego Sweet Springs-Tipton de esta noche a las 5:30 el jueves.

Celebración de la bondad
Muchas gracias al Consejo Estudiantil (STUCO) por ayudarnos a todos a celebrar una semana de bondad intencional hacia los demás. Los miembros de STUCO compartieron consejos diarios sobre los anuncios de la mañana, colocaron carteles y difundieron palabras de aliento durante toda la semana. ¡El viernes los estudiantes fueron recibidos con dulces y cumplidos!
El festival Ragtime llegó a SHS
El miércoles 8 de febrero, nuestros estudiantes de primaria asistieron a un Festival Ragtime en honor a Scott Joplin. Aprendieron sobre la historia de la música Ragtime y sobre una de nuestras figuras históricas locales. Todos los asistentes pasaron un rato divertido.

Felicitaciones a los estudiantes de duodécimo grado por vender la mayor cantidad de tarjetas de descuento de APC, por estudiante, en la escuela preparatoria. Como agradecimiento por su arduo trabajo, APC ofreció una fiesta de Blizzard para los estudiantes de último año el viernes 17 de febrero. Este año, nuestros estudiantes y familias nos ayudaron a recaudar un total de casi $13,000 durante nuestra recaudación de fondos de tarjetas de descuento/tarjetas Win-Win de APC. ¡¡Así se hace Gremlins!!

Armadura de Dios – Tercer Grado
La semana pasada los alumnos de tercer grado recibieron el Escapulario, como parte de su Armadura de Dios. San Juan Pablo II explicaba que la señal del Escapulario evoca dos verdades: por un lado, la protección constante de la Santísima Virgen, no sólo en el camino de la vida, sino también en el momento de pasar a la plenitud de la gloria eterna; por otro, la conciencia de que la devoción a ella no puede limitarse a oraciones y homenajes en su honor en determinadas ocasiones, sino que debe convertirse en un “hábito”, es decir, en una orientación permanente de la propia conducta cristiana, tejida de oración y de vida interior. . Es importante, entonces, llevar el Escapulario con amor y devoción, sabiendo que nuestra Madre María está siempre brindándonos su protección.
