Good Afternoon All,
We have another blessed and happy Catholic Schools Week behind us and we have so much to celebrate! At the top of the list sits the announcement of our annual Teacher of the Year – Excellence in Education Award. This year third grade teacher Robin Williams was honored with the award.
In the humble and gracious style Mrs. Williams has become known for, she had this to say, “I’m speechless and just so honored. The people here are so good. They love the school and they love what they are doing. For them to give me this recognition, I’m just speechless.” Well done and well deserved Mrs. Williams!
Jason and Debbie Parsons were on hand again on Friday afternoon to assist Mrs. Beverly Rollings with the Zach Parsons ‘I Dare You’ award presentations. Each year Mr. and Mrs. Parsons come in honor of their son Zach to make this presentation and keep his wonderful legacy alive at SHS. One junior boy and one junior girl receive the award each year which is based on citizenship, service and leadership potential. This year’s winners are Ximena Lopez and Reuben Smith. Well done Ximena and Reuben. We are proud of you!
So many good, healthy, positive things took place here during the school week. From the unique daily all school prayer opportunities, to the CSW food drive in support of the needy in our community to the daily recognitions of various facets of our school community a wholesome atmosphere was prevalent. Special thanks and congratulations to our Director of Faith Formation. Mr. Jose Maria Gonzalez for coordinating the week’s events and activities.
Congratulations to Miles Hostetler (12 year old boys) and Olivia Dillon (13 year old girls) for advancing to the regional round of Knights of Columbus Free Throw competition on Sunday in Tipton. Both shooters now advance to the regional competition at Fr. Tolton High School on Sunday February 26th at noon. Way to go Grems!

Chief’s Paid Dress Down Day For Mr. Sypes
This Friday, February 10th has changed from a Spirit Dress Day to a Paid Dress Down Day in support of the memorial fund for Mr. Sypes. Mr. Darrell Sypes was the coach from Smithton who recently passed away. Let’s show our support for the Chief’s, while also supporting our Kaysinger Conference family. As usual, the cost is $1 to dress down. Students not participating should be dressed in their uniform.

St. Jude Math-a-thon – There is POWER in Numbers!
We are thrilled to announce that Sacred Heart Students in K-5 collected just over $9200 in total for the families and kids of St. Jude’s Research Hospital. Sacred Heart School has participated in the Math-A-Thon fundraiser since 1987 when former teacher and assistant principal, Mrs. Bonnie Diefendorf, brought this service project to the school. Within that time, our students have raised over $213,820 for the children at St. Jude battling cancer and other terminal diseases.
A celebration will be held in a few weeks to recognize the students who participated. Great job GREMLINS!

We are so proud of our students, some who were 1st time donors, and everyone who donated. Our faculty allows our students to make donating a priority and many of our faculty/staff donate themselves! Happy National Counselor Week to Mrs. Tippie
We love our counselor, Mrs. Sarah Tippie, and appreciate everything she does for the school, families, students, faculty and staff! Please help us celebrate HER and all school counselors this week as we Celebrate National School Counselor’s week Feb. 6-10!
Being a PreK-12 school counselor is challenging and a big job for one person. Mrs. Tippie does a great job listening, advocating for students, collaborating with teachers and administrators, helping students with their future plans, and supporting families.

Papa John’s Pizza Night
We appreciate everyone supporting Papa Johns Night last week. SHS hit the $150 total sales minimum to earn free pizza for various school events. Our total sales were $318.01 and $63.60 in donations. Thank You Everyone!
RaiseRight 2022 Rebate Payouts Are Here
Look for your rebates to be paid out this week. You should see a credit to your Facts account sometime on Wednesday, February 8th. New this year … we are sending emails to each family with details on the rebates they earned throughout the year. Watch out for an email with this information. If you’re not sure we have a current email address for you, contact the program coordinator at scrip@gogremlins.com to make sure you receive your rebate notification.
APC Thanks to 8th Grade
Congratulations to the 8th grade students for selling the most APC discount cards, per student, in the SH Junior High. As a thank you for their hard work, APC provided a Blizzard party for the 8th grade class on Friday, January 27th. This year our students and families helped raise a total of almost $13,000 during our APC Discount Card/Win-Win Card fundraiser. Way to go Gremlins!!

Catholic Schools Week
Last Friday, we celebrated the last day of Catholic Schools Week with the holiest service we have, the Holy Mass. The entire school came together to celebrate Eucharist and recognize individuals for their service to Sacred Heart, hard work as staff members, and exemplary role models as students. Friday was also the last day of the CSW food drive. This year we collected 800 lbs of non-perishable food that went to Open Door. As I’ve mentioned in previous Beats, this was a way to put our Catholic values into practice through one of the corporal works of mercy, feeding the hungry. We also collected around 300 thank you cards that will go out to the community to let them know we appreciate their help in making Sacred Heart School the wonderful reality it is.
National Catholic Youth Conference
Registration for NCYC is still open, and we have 18 students wanting to attend this amazing event. If you are interested in participating, chaperoning, or sponsoring youth, please reach out to Mr. Gonzalez. Registration is due on March 15th. Tickets are $650 per person with a $250 non-refundable initial deposit due within 2 weeks upon submitting your registration. KAYSINGER CONFERENCE HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT
It is an honor and privilege for Sacred Heart to host the Kaysinger HS Basketball Tournament. This would not be possible without all hands on deck. HUGE THANKS YOUS cannot go without being said.
*Hospitality room- Sacred Heart alumni parents have graciously continued to give their time to host one of the best hospitality rooms ever! Thank you to Darla Spangler, Chele Trammel and Esther DeGraff for making this possible. They go above and beyond getting donations, picking them up and then preparing food nightly for this event!
* Sacred Heart families and parents of players donated many items and delicious treats that were in the hospitality room this week. Thank you for your time and generosity.
* Again, Sacred Heart parents of alumni come out in full force to help with the score table and the floor gate. Thank you to Francess Greene, Randy and JoLynn Turley and thank you to Jeff and Carla Lucchesi.

Junior High Gremlins Continue Conference Tournament Play in Stover This Week!
The JH boys and girls basketball teams traveled to Stover this past Saturday for the first round of the single elimination conference tournament. The boys came out victorious over Smithton and the girls over Otterville to both advance to the next round.

Remember we have several low denomination cards available which are great for sharing kindness everywhere you go. It’s a great opportunity to teach our children about kindness for no other reason than to be kind. One idea … you can get a $5 or $10 gift card for McD and leave it at the library for someone to find, or leave it at the drive-thru window to help pay for the vehicle behind you in line. Another idea is to pick a random vehicle at school, or even at Mass, and leave a gift card under their windshield wiper. There are so many opportunities to use RaiseRight to spread kindness throughout our community, and bring light to someone’s day!!
Our next in house order for physical gift cards will be Monday, February 13th. All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school, or through the RaiseRight app by 8pm, on the 13th will be included in the order. Orders should be ready for pick-up the following week.
Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Come in during our volunteer open hours on Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am – 11am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the office or email it to the program coordinator. Buenas tardes a todos,
¡Tenemos otra Semana de las Escuelas Católicas bendecida y feliz detrás de nosotros y tenemos mucho que celebrar! En la parte superior de la lista se encuentra el anuncio de nuestro Maestro del año: Premio a la excelencia en la educación. Este año, la maestra de tercer grado, Robin Williams, fue honrada con el premio.
En el estilo humilde y elegante por el que la Sra. Williams se ha hecho conocida, dijo lo siguiente: “Estoy sin palabras y muy honrada. La gente aquí es tan buena. Les encanta la escuela y les encanta lo que están haciendo. Para que me den este reconocimiento, estoy sin palabras”. ¡Bien hecho y bien merecido Sra. Williams!

Tantas cosas buenas, saludables y positivas tuvieron lugar aquí durante la semana escolar. Desde las oportunidades únicas de oración diaria de toda la escuela, hasta la colecta de alimentos CSW en apoyo de los necesitados de nuestra comunidad y los reconocimientos diarios de varias facetas de nuestra comunidad escolar, prevaleció una atmósfera saludable. Un agradecimiento especial y felicitaciones a nuestro Director de Formación en la Fe. Sr. José María González por coordinar los eventos y actividades de la semana.

St. Jude Math-a-thon – ¡Hay PODER en los números!
Estamos encantados de anunciar que los estudiantes del Sagrado Corazón en K-5 recaudaron un poco más de $9200 en total para las familias y los niños de St. Jude’s Research Hospital. La Escuela del Sagrado Corazón ha participado en la recaudación de fondos Math-A-Thon desde 1987 cuando la ex maestra y subdirectora, la Sra. Bonnie Diefendorf, trajo este proyecto de servicio a la escuela. Ser un consejero escolar de PreK-12 es un desafío y un gran trabajo para una persona. La Sra. Tippie hace un gran trabajo escuchando, defendiendo a los estudiantes, colaborando con los maestros y administradores, ayudando a los estudiantes con sus planes futuros y apoyando a las familias.

Agradecimiento de APC para los alumnos de octavo grado
Felicitaciones a los estudiantes de octavo grado por vender la mayor cantidad de tarjetas de descuento de APC, por estudiante, de la escuela secundaria. Como agradecimiento por su arduo trabajo, APC ofreció una fiesta de Blizzard para la clase de octavo grado el viernes 27 de enero. Semana de las Escuelas Católicas
El viernes pasado celebramos el último día de la Semana de las Escuelas Católicas con el servicio más sagrado que tenemos, la Santa Misa. Toda la escuela se reunió para celebrar la Eucaristía y reconocer a las personas por su servicio al Sagrado Corazón, el arduo trabajo como miembros del personal y su papel ejemplar. modelos como estudiantes. El viernes también fue el último día de la colecta de alimentos de CSW. Este año recolectamos 800 libras de alimentos no perecederos que fueron a Open Door. Como mencioné en Beats anteriores, esta fue una forma de poner en práctica nuestros valores católicos a través de una de las obras de misericordia corporales, alimentar a los hambrientos. Torneo de Baloncesto de preparatoria de Conferencia Kaysinger
Es un honor y un privilegio para el Sagrado Corazón ser el anfitrión del Torneo de Baloncesto HS de Kaysinger. Esto no sería posible sin todas las manos a la obra. MUCHAS GRACIAS no pueden pasar sin ser dichas.
*Sala de hospitalidad- ¡Los padres de ex alumnos del Sagrado Corazón han continuado gentilmente dando su tiempo para albergar una de las mejores salas de hospitalidad de la historia! Los equipos de baloncesto masculino y femenino de JH viajaron a Stover el sábado pasado para la primera ronda del torneo de conferencia de eliminación simple. Los chicos salieron victoriosos sobre Smithton y las chicas sobre Otterville para avanzar a la siguiente ronda.

Es una gran oportunidad para enseñar a nuestros hijos acerca de la amabilidad sin otra razón que la de ser amables. Una idea… puede obtener una tarjeta de regalo de $5 o $10 para McD y dejarla en la biblioteca para que alguien la encuentre, o dejarla en la ventanilla del autoservicio para ayudar a pagar el vehículo detrás de usted en la fila. Otra idea es elegir un vehículo al azar en la escuela, o incluso en Misa, y dejar una tarjeta de regalo debajo del limpiaparabrisas. ¡Hay tantas oportunidades para usar RaiseRight para difundir la bondad en nuestra comunidad y alegrar el día de alguien!
Nuestro próximo pedido interno de tarjetas de regalo físicas será el lunes 13 de febrero. Todos los pedidos enviados a la oficina de la escuela antes del final de la escuela, o a través de la aplicación RaiseRight antes de las 8:00 pm del día 13, se incluirán en el pedido. Los pedidos deben estar listos para ser recogidos la semana siguiente.

Acérquese durante nuestro horario de voluntariado los martes y jueves de 9:30 am a 11:00 am para compras inmediatas, o deje su pedido en la oficina o envíelo por correo electrónico a scrip@gogremlins.com. Nuestros voluntarios llenarán su pedido y le avisarán cuando esté disponible para recogerlo. RaiseRight no estará en las Misas este fin de semana.
