Greetings All and Happy Homecoming Friday!
Sacred Heart School is excited to announce the addition of Deacon Nestor Montenegro to our maintenance and custodial staff. He will be working from 10 to 2 each weekday helping to keep our school clean and in good repair!
Deacon Nestor and his wife Sonia have three children, Virginia (SHS ‘14), Veronica (SHS ‘21) and Andres (SHS ‘24). We are very grateful that he has accepted this position and will be in our school building each day. Welcome Deacon Nestor!
We hope to see many of you tonight at the 2023 Winter Homecoming festivities. It promises to be a lot of fun!

Kindergarten Screening – Feb 9 and 10
Sacred Heart School in Sedalia is hosting a free kindergarten developmental readiness screening for children entering kindergarten in the fall of 2023. The screening will be held February 9th and 10th at Sacred Heart School. All children who will be 5 years of age by July 31, 2023, are invited to attend. Please contact the Sacred Heart School Admissions Office at (660) 827-3800 to schedule an appointment.

It’s time for our annual St. Jude Math-a-thon! Last year our Kindergarten through fifth grade raised a total of $10,865.00 with only 46 participants! Random Drug Testing
Random drug testing will be once a month starting January – May 2023. This will involve faculty, staff, and high school students grades 9-12. One faculty/staff will be selected and 5 high school students each month. All selections are random. Parents will be notified the day of the drug testing to inform them their child is being tested at Midwest collection specialists. The call will come from Mrs. Manning. Healing Rosary
On Wednesday the 25th, at 3:15 pm, we will gather together, as we do every month, to pray the healing Rosary to support ill members of our community. We pray the Holy Rosary knowing that our Mother, Mary, will not leave our prayer unheard. On the contrary, she will take that to her son, Jesus, and, as she did at the weddings of Cana, obtain from him what we need. We are offering the Rosary for the healing of Coen Brown, Mandy Belsha, Erin Rogers, and Katie Pettis. Pro-life Message at Sacred Heart School
Today, Sacred Heart will join other members of our community to participate in the Pro-life Observance that takes place at the Capitol. Throughout the week, students have had the opportunity to discuss and learn about Catholic teachings regarding the defense of life, each class at a grade-appropriate level.
National Catholic Youth Conference
As I mentioned last week, NCYC is open for registration. If you missed it in the previous Beat, NCYC is a national three-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teens and adult chaperones. In 2019, more than 23,000 young people attended the conference, with over 400 attending from our diocese. This year, the conference will be held November 16-18, 2023, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, IN. Saint Vincent de Paul Parish will join other parishes in the Diocese of Jefferson City to attend this amazing event that brings young people together to pray, worship, grow in faith, fellowship with others, and strengthen their relationship with Jesus.
If you are interested, please reach out to Mr. Gonzalez. Registration is due on March 15th. Tickets are $650 per person with a $250 non-refundable initial deposit due within 2 weeks upon submitting your registration.

Battle of the Brains – Tickets on Sale NOW!
Calling all Sacred Heart family, friends, and trivia buffs! It’s “game on” for an adult only evening of fun and friendly competition as the Sacred Heart School Foundation kicks off its annual fund drive with a Battle of the Brains trivia night. Grab your beads, buddies and tickets here!
Conference Tournament countdown has begun!
All games for this event will be played at SFCC with the exception of 2 play-in games hosted at Windsor, this does not pertain to SH. Admission is $5 for all adults and school age children and younger are free.
Sacred Heart has the great privilege of being in charge of the conference basketball tournament. The tournament will be hosted at SFCC. Darla Spangler and Esther Degraff have run the hospitality room for this event for years and have generously agreed to do so again this year! This is not possible without the support of our players’ families.
I have a link below for folks to sign up for needed items throughout this event. Each day has a time listed, that will be the drop off time for items needed that day.
If you could please sign up no later than next Wednesday. That will help us to know where we are and how to proceed filling items not signed up for.

OPEN COACHING POSITION
It is with sadness and joy that I announce the opening of the Head and Assistant High School Volleyball Coaching positions. Coach Siron has served as the head coach for the past 3 seasons and been assisted by Jen Volcko. The past 3 years have been filled with success, accomplishment milestones and great memories created for the girls in the program. I am saddened they will no longer be part of the Volleyball coaching staff but am thrilled that Mrs. Siron will be able to follow her daughter as she embarks on her collegiate volleyball journey. Mrs. Volcko has spent 10+ years giving her time to Sacred Heart and to the Volleyball program, she too will be enjoying more time with her family. Sacred Heart School President Search

RaiseRight 2022 Rebates
With January on the downhill slide, we are almost ready to distribute rebates for the 2022 calendar year. We are finishing up our reports to send to our Finance Manager by the end of month. Look for your rebates to be paid out sometime in the beginning of February. New this year … we are sending emails to each family with details on the rebates they earned throughout the year. Watch out for an email the first couple of weeks of February with this information. If you’re not sure we have a current email address for you, contact the program coordinator at scrip@gogremlins.com to make sure you receive your rebate notification.
Our next in house order for physical gift cards will be Monday, January 23rd. All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school, or through the RaiseRight app by 8pm, on the 23rd will be included in the order. Orders should be ready for pick-up the following week.
Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Come in during our volunteer open hours on Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am – 11am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the office or email it to the program coordinator. Our volunteers will fill your order and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will be at all Masses this weekend on Sunday, January 22nd. Questions? ¡Saludos a todos y feliz viernes de Homecoming!
La Escuela del Sagrado Corazón se complace en anunciar la incorporación del diácono Nestor Montenegro a nuestro personal de mantenimiento y conserjería. ¡Él trabajará de 10:00 am a 2:00 pm todos los días de la semana ayudando a mantener nuestra escuela limpia y en buen estado!
El diácono Néstor y su esposa Sonia tienen tres hijos, Virginia (SHS ’14), Verónica (SHS ’21) y Andrés (SHS ’24). Estamos muy agradecidos de que haya aceptado este puesto y estará en el edificio de nuestra escuela todos los días. ¡Bienvenido Diácono Néstor!

Pruebas aleatorias de drogas
Las pruebas aleatorias de drogas se realizarán una vez al mes a partir de enero hasta mayo de 2023. Esto involucrará a profesores, personal y estudiantes de preparatoria de los grados 9-12. Se seleccionará una persona de la facultad/personal y 5 estudiantes de preparatoria cada mes. Todas las selecciones son aleatorias. Rosario de sanación
El miércoles 25, a las 3:15 horas, nos reuniremos, como todos los meses, para rezar el Rosario de sanación en apoyo de los enfermos de nuestra comunidad. Rezamos el Santo Rosario sabiendo que nuestra Madre, María, no dejará sin escuchar nuestra oración. Al contrario, se lo llevará a su hijo Jesús y, como hizo en las bodas de Caná, obtendrá de él lo que necesitamos. Estamos ofreciendo el Rosario por la sanación de Coen Brown, Mandy Belsha, Erin Rogers y Katie Pettis. Mensaje pro-vida de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón
Hoy, el Sagrado Corazón se unirá a otros miembros de nuestra comunidad para participar en la Celebración Pro-Vida que se lleva a cabo en el Capitolio. A lo largo de la semana, los estudiantes han tenido la oportunidad de discutir y aprender sobre las enseñanzas católicas sobre la defensa de la vida, cada clase en un nivel apropiado para su grado.
Conferencia Nacional de la Juventud Católica
Como mencioné la semana pasada, NCYC está abierto para el registro. Si se perdió el Beat anterior, NCYC es una experiencia nacional de tres días de oración, comunidad y empoderamiento para adolescentes católicos y acompañantes adultos. En 2019, más de 23 000 jóvenes asistieron a la conferencia, con más de 400 asistentes de nuestra diócesis. Este año, la conferencia se llevará a cabo del 16 al 18 de noviembre de 2023 en el Centro de Convenciones de Indiana en Indianápolis, IN. La parroquia de San Vicente de Paúl se unirá a otras parroquias de la Diócesis de Jefferson City para asistir a este increíble evento que reúne a los jóvenes para orar, adorar, crecer en la fe, tener compañerismo con los demás y fortalecer su relación con Jesús.

Battle of the Brains – ¡Entradas a la venta AHORA!
¡Llamando a toda la familia, amigos y aficionados a las trivias del Sagrado Corazón! Es el “juego” para una noche de diversión y competencia amistosa cuando la Fundación de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón inicia su campaña anual de recaudación de fondos con una noche de trivia de la Batalla de los Cerebros. ¡Comenzó la cuenta regresiva del Torneo de Conferencia!
Todos los juegos de este evento se jugarán en SFCC con la excepción de 2 juegos de play-in organizados en Windsor, esto no pertenece a SH. La entrada cuesta $5 para todos los adultos y los niños en edad escolar y menores entran gratis.
El Sagrado Corazón tiene el gran privilegio de estar a cargo del torneo de baloncesto de la conferencia. PUESTO ABIERTO DE ENTRENADOR
Es con tristeza y alegría que anunció la apertura de los puestos de Jefe y Asistente de Entrenador de Voleibol de Escuela Preparatoria. La entrenadora Siron se ha desempeñado como entrenadora en jefe durante las últimas 3 temporadas y ha sido asistido por Jen Volcko. Los últimos 3 años han estado llenos de éxito, hitos de logros y grandes recuerdos creados para las niñas del programa. Me entristece que ya no sean parte del cuerpo técnico de Voleibol, pero estoy encantada de que la Sra. Siron pueda seguir a su hija mientras se embarca en su viaje universitario de voleibol. La Sra. Volcko ha pasado años dedicando su tiempo al Sagrado Corazón y al programa de Voleibol, ella también disfrutará más tiempo con su familia. Desde el fondo de mi corazón estoy agradecido y bendecido de haber tenido la oportunidad de trabajar junto a ellos. Reembolsos de RaiseRight 2022
Con enero llegando a su fin, estamos casi listos para distribuir los reembolsos para el año calendario 2022. Estamos terminando nuestros informes para enviarlos a nuestro Gerente de Finanzas a fin de mes. Busque sus reembolsos que se pagarán en algún momento a principios de febrero. Nuevo este año… estamos enviando correos electrónicos a cada familia con detalles sobre los reembolsos que ganaron durante el año. Esté atento a un correo electrónico las primeras dos semanas de febrero con esta información. Nuestro próximo pedido interno de tarjetas de regalo físicas será el lunes 23 de enero.
