Good Afternoon Everyone,
It is with a heavy heart that I inform our Sacred Heart community that our good friend, Mr. Mike Freels passed away from a sudden illness yesterday evening. Mr. Freels served as the maintenance and custodial supervisor for our school for the past 15 years, just stepping down this past June.
Mike was not only a valued, dedicated and highly loyal employee, he was a gentle, kind and caring man. He loved Sacred Heart and he loved our students and families. Please keep him, his ex-wife Deb and their two daughters Elizabeth (SHS ‘14) and Katherine (SHS ‘16) in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Have a good weekend and we look forward to seeing everyone at Mass this weekend as we continue to prepare for the coming of the Savior during this Advent season.

XLT Adoration December 6, 8pm
Join us for XLT Adoration at Sacred Heart Chapel. During the season of Advent we encourage everyone who used to make a Holy Hour to start up again and those who have never started to start. Our Church needs prayer warriors in front of the Blessed Sacrament praying for our world, church, community and families. If Adoration is new to you, come to XLT Adoration where there is beautiful music to accompany our prayers. Bring your children and family; it’s never too early to begin to pray before the Blessed Sacrament.
Feast of the Immaculate Conception Masses
This is a Holy Day of Obligation, so while our students will be at Mass at Sacred Heart at 8:30, parents, please make sure you are at Mass for this Holy Day as well. For us Catholics, this is the Holy Day of Obligation where Mary was conceived without sin. Found in the Gospel of Luke when the Angel Gabriel appears to May and calls her by name, “Full of Grace.” Meaning, there is nothing within you that is not fully graced; therefore, she was saved from original sin. Some may say, “then no wonder she didn’t sin; she didn’t have original sin” to which the church would reply, “neither did Adam or Eve, but they still chose personal sin. Mary never chose personal sin. She is a great mother to go to who will take our prayer intentions to Her Son. Just like we ask other people to pray for us, we can ask Mary to pray for us as well.

Our Lady of Guadalupe
On December 12th, the Catholic Church celebrates the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our Mother, Mary, appeared to St. Juan Diego in 1531 and asked him to communicate to the bishop her intentions of building a chapel in the place she was. The bishop did not believe and asked for a sign. Mary gave roses to Juan Diego in a season when roses did not grow to satisfy the requested sign, and when he opened his tilma in the bishop’s presence, the roses fell to the ground, and the bishop sank to his knees, contemplating the miraculous image of Mary. Our Lady of Guadalupe is the Patroness of the Americas, and as such we come to her: pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death, Amen.
Novena
The word “novena” means ninth in Spanish, and it’s used to indicate the nine days of preparation before a feast day (being the ninth day, the same day of the celebration). This preparation is meant to get us in the best disposition possible, both internally and externally, to celebrate the Feast. Whether you pray in English or in Spanish, you are invited to join us in praying the Holy Rosary at 7 pm at St. Patrick Chapel.
Winter Sports Mass
The winter athletic team mass will be held Sunday, December 11th at St. Pat’s at the 11:30 service. Students playing in winter sports are invited to attend with their families and take advantage of the opportunity to have fellowship, together as a team. Mass roles will all be filled by student athletes!

Sportsmanship Matters! How to be a Good Fan
Basketball season is upon us, with indoor venues we are all in close proximity and lets just face it, we have A LOT of amazing fans that come to our games! I wanted to take an opportunity to talk about being a “good” spectator. At Sacred Heart we set the expectations high for our students, specifically when it comes to sportsmanship, with our fans the expectations are no different!
I am going to keep it simple, use these 5 rules of thumb!

Sacred Heart School President Search

Our schedule for bulk orders through Chrismtas is Monday, December 5th, and Wednesday, December 14th.
Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Come in during our volunteer open hours on Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am – 11am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the office or email it to scrip@gogremlins.com. Our volunteers will fill your order and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will be available at all Masses this Sunday, December 4th. Buenas tardes a todos,
Con gran pesar informo a nuestra comunidad del Sagrado Corazón que nuestro buen amigo, el Sr. Mike Freels, falleció ayer por la noche debido a una enfermedad repentina. El Sr. Freels se desempeñó como supervisor de mantenimiento y conserjería de nuestra escuela durante los últimos 15 años y renunció en junio pasado.
Mike no solo era un empleado valioso, dedicado y muy leal, sino también un hombre gentil, amable y afectuoso. Amaba al Sagrado Corazón y amaba a nuestros estudiantes y familias. Por favor, manténgalo a él, a su ex esposa Deb y a sus dos hijas Elizabeth (SHS ’14) y Katherine (SHS ’16) en sus pensamientos y oraciones durante este momento difícil.
Que tengan un buen fin de semana y esperamos verlos a todos en Misa este fin de semana mientras continuamos preparándonos para la venida del Salvador durante esta temporada de Adviento.

Este es un Día Santo de Obligación, así que mientras nuestros estudiantes estarán en Misa en el Sagrado Corazón a las 8:30, padres, por favor asegúrense de estar en Misa en este Día Santo también. Para nosotros los católicos, este es el Día Santo de la Obligación donde María fue concebida sin pecado. Encontrado en el Evangelio de Lucas cuando el Ángel Gabriel se le aparece a May y la llama por su nombre, “Llena eres de Gracia”. Es decir, no hay nada dentro de ti que no esté completamente agraciado; por lo tanto, fue salvada del pecado original. Algunos pueden decir, “entonces con razón ella no pecó; ella no tenía pecado original”, a lo que la iglesia respondería, “ni Adán ni Eva, pero aun así eligieron el pecado personal. María nunca eligió el pecado personal. Ella es una gran Madre a la que acudir que llevará nuestras intenciones de oración a Su Hijo. Así como le pedimos a otras personas que oren por nosotros, también podemos pedirle a María que ore por nosotros.

Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe
El 12 de diciembre, la Iglesia Católica celebra la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Nuestra Madre, María, se apareció a San Juan Diego en 1531 y le pidió que le comunicara al obispo sus intenciones de construir una capilla en el lugar donde se encontraba. El obispo no creyó y pidió una señal. María le dio rosas a Juan Diego en una época en que las rosas no crecían para satisfacer la señal solicitada, y cuando abrió su tilma en presencia del obispo, las rosas cayeron al suelo, y el obispo se arrodilló contemplando la imagen milagrosa de María. Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe es la Patrona de las Américas, y como tal acudimos a ella: ruega por nosotros pecadores, ahora y en la hora de nuestra muerte, Amén.
Novena
La palabra “novena” significa novena en español, y se usa para indicar los nueve días de preparación antes de un día de fiesta (siendo el noveno día, el mismo día de la celebración). Esta preparación está destinada a ponernos en la mejor disposición posible, tanto interna como externamente, para celebrar la Fiesta. Ya sea que ore en inglés o en español, está invitado a unirse a nosotros para rezar el Santo Rosario a las 7:00 pm en la Capilla de San Patricio.
Misa de atletismo de invierno
La misa del equipo atlético de invierno se llevará a cabo el domingo 11 de diciembre en San Patricio en el servicio de las 11:30. Los estudiantes que practican deportes de invierno están invitados a asistir con sus familias y aprovechar la oportunidad de tener compañerismo, juntos como un equipo. ¡Todos los roles de Misa serán ocupados por estudiantes atletas!

La temporada de baloncesto está sobre nosotros, con lugares interiores todos estamos muy cerca y seamos sinceros, ¡tenemos MUCHOS fanáticos increíbles que vienen a nuestros juegos! Quería aprovechar la oportunidad para hablar sobre ser un “buen” espectador. En el Sagrado Corazón establecemos altas expectativas para nuestros estudiantes, específicamente cuando se trata de deportividad, ¡con nuestros fanáticos las expectativas no son diferentes!
¡Voy a mantenerlo simple, use estas 5 reglas generales!

Como escuela parroquial, el listón está muy alto para nuestro comportamiento y cómo nos representamos a nosotros mismos. Se nos pide que nos elevemos por encima, que siempre hagamos lo correcto. ¡Ayúdanos a que este año sea un éxito siendo un buen fanático!

Acérquese durante nuestro horario de voluntariado los martes y jueves de 9:30 a. m. a 11 a. m. para compras inmediatas, o deje su pedido en la oficina o envíelo por correo electrónico a scrip@gogremlins.com. Nuestros voluntarios llenarán su pedido y le avisarán cuando esté disponible para recogerlo. RaiseRight estará disponible en todas las misas este domingo 13 de noviembre.
