The Sacred Heart Beat – Tuesday, April 26, 2022

Tuesday, April 26, 2022

Greetings Everyone,

What a great weekend to be a Gremlin! We were excited to welcome “home” over 130 alumni and friends for our Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony on Saturday. The school was full of Gremlins sharing fond memories that spanned the decades. This special night is a celebration of our past, present, and our bright future, and it was possible with the help of a fabulous team. It was a great success and our student body represented us beautifully in many different capacities. Thank you to all!

Another event that will go down in “history” is our fifth-grade Living History Museum, which graced the front page of Saturday’s Sedalia Democrat. We also give a standing ovation to the members of our Speech team that represented SHS Saturday at the State Speech meet in Springfield. Congratulations! Wrapping up the weekend was a big win in the form of confirmation preparation and 50 youth from our community coming together at SHS for game night and prayer. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in bringing these events to “life”!

More stories and photos of these events will be shared in this issue (and future issues) of the Sacred Heart Beat.

Let’s keep the positive momentum going as we rapidly approach the end of the year. Counting Finals Week we only have 5 weeks to go!  With that in mind, please make note of our finals schedule in Mrs. Martin’s section of the Beat. We appreciate your partnership in making sure your students are prepared and present for finals week.

I hope you have a wonderful last week of April!

In His Service,

Dr. Mark Register (SHS Class of ‘75)

President

ARMOR OF GOD

Juniors received their St. Benedict wristbands at the school Mass on April 13th. We pray the students will find these helpful in continuing their relationship with God.

MARCH FOR LIFE

Mrs. Bolin, Mrs. Messina, and Mr. Gonzalez took the seventh graders on April 20th to the State Capitol to join the 2022 Midwest March for Life in a moving, pro-life rally. The inclement weather was not an obstacle for our seventh graders, who demonstrated their support for life and the protection of unborn babies. We joined other Catholic and Christian groups inside the Capitol Hall, where we prayed together and listened to some pro-life testimonies. The energy and common vision were so palpable that, despite the rain that forced the organizers to change to an indoor schedule, both students and teachers left the building with a renewed sense of unity in Faith and the protection of those that haven’t been born to this world yet.

PARISH YOUTH EVENT

As Dr. Register mentioned in his opening to today’s Beat, we had approximately 50 young people gather after their last Confirmation session to enjoy fellowship, basketball, volleyball and indoor soccer along with pizza, lots of desserts and drinks.  About 15 adult chaperones were on hand to make sure the day went smoothly and fun.  At the end of our time together everyone came to church for about 15 minutes of prayer before the Blessed Sacrament as many of our high school and college students lead them in praise and worship songs.  A special thank you for all who helped prepare our young people for Confirmation this year. And for those from our parish who prayed with them the Divine Mercy Chaplet at 2pm Sunday; that is a powerful witness to our young candidates.  The Confirmation ceremony will be on May 14: 11 am Sacred Heart and 1 pm St Patrick.

SAUCEDO PLAYING FOR WILLIAM JEWELL

On Thursday, April 14th Bruno Saucedo signed his national letter of intent to continue his education and soccer career at William Jewell College. At Jewell he will be coached by Sedalia Native Eddie Horn. (Due to NCAA guidelines Coach Horn could not be in the building during the signing but was able to join us afterward).

Bruno came to Sacred Heart just this year, while he has been with us only a short time he has made a huge impact and we are so glad he is part of the SH family. While here for his senior year he has excelled. This year Bruno participated in soccer and also emerged into some new athletic opportunities, he kicked for the football team and is currently running track and has quickly become a stand-out.

We are so proud of Bruno and look forward to supporting him in his next steps.
