Good Afternoon and Happy Friday!
We are so excited to get another year off and rolling next week. While the reopening circumstances are not everything we were hoping for there is a GREAT cause for optimism. There are three vital points that I hope all parents will keep in mind.

Please know that we will be working with our teachers to arrange the desks in their classrooms in a manner that will allow for adequate social distancing. When adequate social distancing is possible the students will be allowed to remove the masks for the period of time in which they are settled and in their desks.
-
I just want to reiterate that we have it as a priority to act prudently and cautiously when it comes to protecting the safety of our children and their families. If one child or one family would experience serious health complications and the school would have failed to take reasonable and moderate steps to prevent it, would it be worth it?
-
Finally, it is vital that we take the necessary steps to make sure large scale quarantines do not interrupt the flow of in person learning at Sacred Heart School.
Mrs. Martin, Mr. Gonzalez, and myself have received several notes of encouragement and support since the reopening announcement came out on Wednesday. We can’t adequately express what those mean to us and how much they are truly appreciated. We believe that we are blessed to serve the best families in the world. Thank you!

And so we pray, “All loving and powerful God, thank you for allowing us to start a new school year. Thank you for parents entrusting into our care their most precious gift from you, their children. Help us to take care of them, love, educate and mold them into the disciples you are calling them to be. Help us to remain resilient, keep our sense of humor and trust in you as we navigate the course you set before us during this time of educating during a pandemic. We ask you to bless all of us with a sense of peace, calm and cooperative spirit, We ask all of this through Christ our Lord.

First Day of School
We are looking forward to the new school year and especially the first day of school, which is just around the corner, on Wednesday, August 25. All parents can park and bring their child to their classroom for the first day of school. All visitors, parents, students, and our staff who come into the building are expected to properly wear their masks. We highly encourage and celebrate families keeping with the tradition of taking outside pictures in various locations around our beautiful campus. Remember to keep Third Street in front of the school clear for the drop-off line.
Active Parent’s Club (APC) will be serving coffee in the Sacred Heart Parish Center. All parents are welcome to attend after they have dropped off their child for the first day of school.
Every Day Parking Reminders

Parent parking is available in the Wilkerson Lot (next to the solar array lot) and street parking.

Keep Third Street in front of the school clear for the drop-off line. Do not park on Third Street where you see the yellow line.

Keep the solar array parking lot, driveway, and alley open. Only park in approved parking spots.

Keep the parish lot open for parish personnel and parish visitors. School families should not park in this lot while visiting the school.

Open House – Monday at 3-6:45pm
We are looking forward to kicking off our school year with our Open House, that is just around the corner. As long as it is necessary, we will evaluate each individual event, to determine the risk and the necessary precautions that need to be in place. Since we anticipate a large portion of our students and our staff being present in the building on Monday, August 23 it is necessary that masks be worn. If you are not comfortable with entering Sacred Heart School while abiding by these protocols, please contact your child’s teacher to arrange a time to obtain the necessary information that is provided at Open House.

SPECTATOR/ATHLETE GUIDELINES FOR SACRED HEART SCHOOL EVENTS
Sacred Heart Student Athletes

At this time, masking is necessary for indoor programs: Volleyball and Basketball. When students are not actively participating, masks should be worn.

Per federal order masks are required in transit to or from games or school events.

At this time, it is not necessary to screen every athlete daily. Each coach has been provided with a thermometer, students not feeling well should be screened and sent home if they have a fever or symptoms of COVID. Per the CDC recommendations anything that registers at 100.4 or higher is considered a temperature. If a temperature is registered as high, administration will be notified.
Sacred Heart and Visiting Spectators

Given the current status masking is necessary when attending events at Sacred Heart School and social distancing at 3 feet apart. There will be home and visitor seating designation.

TRANSPORTATION COVID GUIDELINES
Executive order No. 13998 states that masks are required to be worn on all domestic modes of transportation. This mandate includes both public and private school buses or vans. This order applies to private schools because these are conveyances operated for a non-personal, commercial use vehicle.
This is federal law, we as a school do not reserve the right to modify this order.

Elementary Volleyball – Signups Due Monday, August 30
Sacred Heart Youth Volleyball is an introduction to team sports for girls in grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 enrolled at Sacred Heart School. Our goal is to teach volleyball skills, sportsmanship and to provide a fun learning environment for the players. The teams will host games at Sacred Heart School and travel to surrounding schools to participate in games scheduled by the coaches. The season is from late August until the end of October. ¡Buenas tardes y feliz viernes!
Estamos muy emocionados porque el nuevo año escolar comienza la siguiente semana. Aunque las circunstancias no son como esperábamos, tenemos MUCHO optimismo. Hay tres puntos vitales que espero que todos los padres de familia tengan en cuenta.

Oremos, “ Dios amoroso y poderoso, gracias por permitirnos comenzar un nuevo año escolar. Gracias a los padres de familia que han confiado a nuestro cuidado tu regalo más preciado, sus hijos. Ayúdanos a cuidarlos, amarlos, educarlos y formarlos en los discípulos que tu pides que sean. Ayúdanos a permanecer resilientes, mantener nuestro sentido del humor y confiar en ti mientras navegamos el rumbo que nos fijaste durante este tiempo de educación durante una pandemia. Primer Día de Clases
Esperamos con ansias el nuevo año escolar y especialmente el primer día de clases, el miércoles 25 de agosto, que está justo a la vuelta de la esquina. Todos los padres de familia pueden estacionarse y traer a sus hijos a su salón de clases para el primer día de clases. Se espera que todos los visitantes, padres de familia, estudiantes y nuestro personal que entren al edificio usen adecuadamente sus cubrebocas. Alentamos y celebramos que las familias sigan la tradición de tomar fotografías al aire libre en varios lugares de nuestro hermoso campus. Recuerde mantener 3rd street frente a la escuela libre de la línea de llegada.
El Club de Padres Activos (APC por sus siglas en inglés) servirá café en el Centro Parroquial del Sagrado Corazón. Todos los padres de familia están invitados a asistir después de haber dejado a su hijo el primer día de clases.

Esperamos comenzar nuestro año escolar con nuestra jornada de Open House que está a la vuelta de la esquina. Estudiantes Deportistas del Sagrado Corazón

En este momento, el cubrebocas es necesario para los programas a puerta cerrada: Voleibol y Baloncesto. Cuando los estudiantes no estén activamente participando, deberán usar cubrebocas.

Por orden federal, se requieren cubrebocas en tránsito hacia o desde juegos o eventos escolares.

LINEAMIENTOS COVID PARA TRANSPORTE

Voleibol de Primaria – Inscripciones para el lunes 30 de agosto
Sacred Heart Youth Volleyball es una introducción para niñas en grados 3, 4, 5 y 6 inscritas en la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón. Nuestro objetivo es enseñar habilidades de voleibol, espíritu deportivo y proporcionar un ambiente de aprendizaje divertido para los jugadores. Los equipos organizarán juegos en la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón y viajarán a las escuelas circundantes para participar en juegos programados por los entrenadores. La temporada es desde finales de agosto hasta finales de octubre. El formulario y el pago de 25 se debe de regresar antes del 30 de agosto, 2021.
