Good Afternoon SHS!
I would like to open this SH Beat by officially welcoming Mr. Gonzalez and his wife Sara to the St. Vincent de Paul Parish and Sacred Heart School communities!

They are officially moved in and Mr. Gonzalez is keeping regular office hours at school. Each day is filled with meeting new people and learning more about what awaits him as the Assistant Principal at our wonderful school. He says that he is most anxious to begin meeting and getting to know the students. If you see him at Mass or around the school, please stop to say hello and introduce yourself!
We had a nice turnout for The Devon Grose Alumni Game on Friday night with over 100 tickets sold for the event. Unfortunately, bad weather interrupted the festivities. A torrential summer downpour came rumbling through the Pettis County area right at halftime with the White team holding a 3-1 lead. The game and festivities were postponed at that time. The organizing committee is exploring the possibility of holding the dinner on a date in the near future. Please watch for more details in upcoming communications.
We still have a couple of job openings to fill as the school year rapidly approaches. The school is looking for a K-12 Spanish Teacher and an International Student Liaison. The International Student Liaison assists with Spanish translations, both written and spoken, as well as helping our new English language learners get the support they need to be successful with their studies.
If you are interested in one of these important positions or know someone who might be, please contact the school office and we can discuss the necessary qualifications and other details surrounding these opportunities.
As we begin a new school year let’s join with the other Catholic Schools around the diocese and be attentive to Bishop McKnight’s August prayer intention for the local church:
“As we begin this school year, may all recognize our shared mission to hand on our Catholic faith to the next generation.”

Why Catholic School?
I hope the parent visits with the priest has been a good experience for you, just visiting with one of us for a few minutes. We have enjoyed spending a few minutes with each of you! We look forward to visiting with the rest of you before school begins.
A few reminders of what we said at the parent visit: Our school exists because we promised at your child’s baptism that we would assist you in raising your child in the faith. The bishops say the best way to assist is through our Catholic School System. The Catholic School at Sacred Heart is a gift given to us by God where earlier generations cooperated with His Plan to keep the school open for us. Now, we cooperate with His Plan to keep it for the current and future generations helping everyone who comes into our school experience and know Jesus Christ.
A Catholic School’s primary focus is to help all who come into our school become a disciple of Jesus Christ. It will be academically challenging with many extra-curricular activities to discover together who it is God made when He made these children. Of course, we prepare them for a world that they will live in… by being successful in making the world more what God wants it to be. The school is secondary to what you are doing in the home in fostering prayer and participation in the Sunday worship. We cannot replace it nor sow seeds that are not sewn or watered at home. However, together, we can do amazing work with God’s graces in helping them develop that infinite eternal relationship with Jesus Christ!
So, remember to make family prayer time and Mass (or where you worship on the weekends with your family!) top priorities. As parents and the school community, we are in a partnership making disciples for Jesus Christ!

Open House – Monday, August 23 from 3-6:45pm
Please join us on Monday, August 23 for our Welcome Back Open House! The building will be open from 3:00-6:45 for our students and their families to come visit and prepare for the start of the year! During this time you can expect to visit with teachers, drop off supplies, pick up schedules and locker assignments, visit the school store and used uniform closet, learn more about APC, Booster Club, SCRIP, and complete VIRTUS training if you have not done so.
VIRTUS Training – Parents/Volunteers Need to Complete
All parents and volunteers need to complete their VIRTUS training.
As we near the start of the 2021-22 school year, please make sure you have completed the 3 steps of VIRTUS Training (signing the Code of Conduct, completing the Background Check, and the Safe Environment Training Videos). All items can now be completed online, without having to print and mail any paperwork. While VIRTUS training does include a background check, the purpose of VIRTUS is more focused on teaching those who have contact with our children to be aware of the signs of unsafe situations, and to prevent harm.
Go to www.virtus.org to sign up for training or to log in to your account and complete your training. If you are unsure of your completion status, contact Dee Snurr (dee.svdpparish@gmail.com) at the St. Vincent de Paul Business Office.

Back to School for 2021-2022
As the first day of school quickly approaches, we are putting the finishing touches on the 21-22 school year. Junior High and High School students will be following a new bell schedule, featuring a homeroom period between 1st and 2nd hours. During this time students will go to their assigned teacher, where they can study and receive help on schoolwork. Class or organization meetings will also be held during this time, to avoid students missing class time.

We have lots of options for Spirit Dress Days. This year they will occur on the second and fourth Mondays unless otherwise noted. On Spirit Dress Days, students may wear school-appropriate denim with a Gremlin Gear or a plain t-shirt of the appropriate uniform colors (PK-8: Red/White, 9-12: Red/White/Navy). If the top is not a Gremlin or Sacred Heart top there should be no other writing on it.

It’s hard to believe we are already halfway through summer. School starts in a few weeks, so now is the time to purchase all of your back-to-school supplies. The weekend of August 6-8 is the Sales Tax-Free weekend in Missouri. When you purchase qualifying supplies, you will save a total of 5.225% in sales tax (4.225% from the state and 1% from Pettis county)! Elementary Volleyball Camp – August 9th – 12th – Come Play!

Se mudaron oficialmente y el Sr. Gonzalez mantiene un horario regular de oficina en la escuela. Cada día está lleno de conocer gente nueva y aprender más sobre lo que le espera como Subdirector en nuestra maravillosa escuela. Dice que está muy ansioso por comenzar a reunirse y conocer a los estudiantes. Si lo ve durante la misa o en la escuela, por favor deténgase a saludar y presentarse.
El viernes por la noche, tuvimos una buena participación para el Juego de Exalumnos Devon Grose con más de 100 boletos vendidos para el evento. Desafortunadamente el mal clima interrumpió el festejo. Un aguacero torrencial de verano llegó al área del Condado de Pettis justo en el medio tiempo con una ventaja del equipo blanco de 3 a 1. El juego y el festejo se pospusieron en ese momento. El comité organizador está buscando la posibilidad de llevar a cabo la cena en una próxima fecha. Esté atento a más detalles en los próximos comunicados.
Aún tenemos un par de vacantes (job openings) que cubrir a medida que se acerca rápidamente el año escolar. Mensaje de los Pastores
¿Por qué la Escuela Católica?
Espero que la visita de padres de familia con el sacerdote (visitar a uno de nosotros por un par de minutos) haya sido una buena experiencia para usted. ¡Hemos disfrutado pasar unos minutos con cada uno de ustedes! Esperamos que nos pueda visitar antes de que comiencen las clases.
Algunos recordatorios de lo que dijimos en la visita de los padres de familia: Nuestra escuela existe porque prometimos en el bautizo de sus hijos que le ayudaríamos a criar a su hijo en la fe. Los obispos dicen que la mejor manera de ayudar es a través de nuestro Sistema Escolar Católico. La Escuela Católica del Sagrado Corazón es un regalo que Dios nos dió, donde las generaciones anteriores cooperan con Su Plan para mantener la escuela abierta para nosotros. Ahora cooperamos con Su Plan para mantenerla para las generaciones actuales y futuras ayudando a todos los que vienen a nuestra escuela a experimentar y conocer a Jesucristo.
El enfoque principal de una Escuela Católica es ayudar a todos los que ingresan a nuestra escuela a convertirse en discípulos de Jesucristo. Será académicamente desafiante con muchas actividades extracurriculares descubrir juntos a quién hizo Dios cuando hizo a estos niños. Open House – Lunes 23 de agosto de 3:00 a 6:45 pm
¡Acompáñenos el lunes 23 de agosto para nuestra jornada de Open House de Bienvenida! Regreso a Clases para 2021-2022

Para comenzar a practicar su jugador debe tener un examen físico actual (los exámenes físicos son buenos por dos años) y un formulario de pre-participación (requerido anualmente). Las copias de los formularios se pueden encontrar en nuestro sitio de internet en https://www.gogremlins.com/

Los entrenadores entregarán los manuales deportivos para que los revisen y los firmen una vez que comiencen las prácticas.

Campamento de Voleibol de Primaria – del 9 al 12 de agosto – ¡Ven a jugar!
Este campamento de voleibol es para niñas que ingresan de 3er a 6to grado en otoño. El campamento se llevará a cabo en el Gimnasio Mc Gremlin de 5:30 a 8:00 pm. Favor de entregar el formulario que encontrará en el siguiente enlace (this form) en la oficina principal de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón. El formulario (Form) y el pago de $25 se deben de entregar antes del 6 de agosto de 2021.
