We have been communicating with you over the past week or so about our follow up kindergarten screening date coming up on April 30. SHS is in the process of building our next great class and we still have spots to fill! On the 30th we are offering another day of free kindergarten developmental readiness screening with all children who will be 5 years of age by July 31, 2021 invited to attend.

In more enrollment news, if you are a parent of a student currently in grades 6 through 11 please ask your child about their class schedule for next year. The scheduling process is underway. The students should be bringing their proposed schedule home for your approval and signature. If you have questions about this process please feel free to reach out to Mrs. Martin, Mr. Jones or Mrs. Buckley.
Finally, we have a very exciting few days coming up. I will focus on the Hall of Fame event in Tuesday’s Beat. In addition, the Mette Family Ministries will be in the McGremlin Gym on Sunday to promote the beauty of the Catholic faith in a modern context using an uplifting musical format! Please make plans to join us at 4pm on Sunday in the main gym for entertainment for the entire family!
The Mette family will stay on Monday for a short concert with the secondary grades and to lead our 8th grade retreat. Please keep them and our students in your prayers!

Are you or any of your family members interested in joining the Catholic Church? Sessions to learn more about who we are will start the first week in June. Call the parish office at 660-827-2311or speak to one of the priests so we can make sure you are receiving all the information as time gets closer. We will also start a new section in September for those who might want to wait until Fall. We know we have enough interest to start now, so come see who we are and what we believe. Addison Trammell
Addison will be attending Lindenwood University this fall. She has chosen marketing as her major. Addy really enjoys designing things, with the help of a computer! She is looking forward to meeting new people and finding her way. She has plans to join a sorority at Lindenwood to get involved on campus. Addy is excited to move to St. Charles. She really likes the fact that it is still a semi-small town, but yet there is lots to explore and do!

All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school, or on the RaiseRight app by 11:59pm, on Monday, April 18th will be included in the order.
Don’t forget to stop by the school office to shop from our great selection of physical gift cards. In this week’s sports corner I want to talk about being faith based in athletics. Being a Catholic School we are set apart from many of the schools that we compete against. We hold ourselves to standards that put God first in all that we do so I want to share some scripture and how that relates to our youth athletes.
1. “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Matthew 6:33
As in all things, we must never let sports get in the way of our relationship with God. He is first.
2. “…do it all for the glory of God.” 1 Corinthians 10:31
Though you work hard to excel, remember who it is that has given you the gift of being successful in sports. God deserves the glory, not you. Be humble in your accomplishments and use any attention given to you to lead others to Christ. The same is true for your losses and failures. Do not show poor sportsmanship and a bad attitude when things don’t go your way, offer it up for the glory of God.
3. “And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith.” Hebrews 12:2
All sports test us, challenge us, and push us to new limits. This is part of the fun and the adventure of athletics! Don’t give up or give in even when you are tired and tempted to quit. Press on with perseverance. Doing so in the physical sense will help drive you when things get difficult in your spiritual life too.
4. “Similarly, anyone who competes as an athlete does not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules.“ 2 Timothy 2:5
It should go without saying that the Christian athlete must know and play by the rules at all times. Whether you cheat in a game with a sneaky play or in practice when you don’t complete all the laps your coach asks of you, the only person you are really cheating is yourself. Integrity is a virtue that demonstrates that we do more than just believe in Jesus, we live like Him.
5. “All athletes are disciplined in their training. They do it to win a prize that will fade away, but we do it for an eternal prize.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-15
Be disciplined, self-controlled, and willing to make sacrifices. These are the characteristic marks of both the athlete and the Christian. It is discipline that produces results.

SENIOR NIGHT for Baseball and Softball will be Thursday, April 22nd at the Liberty Stadium at 4:45. Please join us for a special night as we honor our seniors. Both games will be played at Liberty Park, the boys at the stadium and the girls at Vansell field.
FREE physical night will be Sunday, April 25th from 4-6 here at the school- please check in at the commons. This will be the only physical night we will be offering, there will not be another one until spring 2022.

Haga planes para acompañarnos el domingo a las 4:00 pm en el gimnasio principal para entretener a toda la familia!
La familia Mette se quedará el lunes para un pequeño concierto con los grados de secundaria y para dirigir nuestro retiro de 8vo grado. ¡Favor de mantener a nuestros estudiantes en sus oraciones!

Addison asistirá a Lindenwood University este otoño. Ha elegido mercadotecnia como su especialidad. ¡Addie realmente disfruta de diseñar cosas con la ayuda de una computadora!. Espera conocer gente nueva y encontrar su camino. Tiene planes de unirse a una hermandad de mujeres en Lindenwood para participar en el campus. Addie está emocionada de mudarse a St. Charles. Realmente le gusta el hecho de que todavía es una ciudad semi pequeña pero ¡aún hay mucho que explorar y hacer!

En el rincón deportivo de esta semana quiero hablar sobre la fe basada en los deportes. Al ser una Escuela Católica, nos diferenciamos de muchas de las escuelas con las que competimos. Nos apegamos a las normas que ponen a Dios en primer lugar en todo lo que hacemos, así que, quiero compartir algunas escrituras al respecto y cómo se relaciona esto con nuestros jóvenes deportistas.
1. “Mas buscad primeramente en el Reino de Dios y su justicia y todas estas cosas os serán añadidas”. Mateo 6:33
Como en todas las cosas, nunca debemos permitir que los deportes se interpongan en nuestra relación con Dios. Él, es primero.
2. “…hacedlo todo para gloria de Dios.” 1 de Corintios 10:31
Aunque trabajes duro para sobresalir, recuerda quien es el que te ha dado el don de tener éxito en los deportes. Dios merece la gloria, no tu. Se humilde en tus logros y usa cualquier oportunidad que se te de para llevar a otros a Cristo. Lo mismo aplica para tus pérdidas y fracasos. No muestres poco espíritu deportivo y una mala actitud cuando las cosas no salen como tú quieres, ofrécelo para gloria de Dios.
3. “Y corramos con perseverancia la carrera que se nos ha concedido, con la mirada puesta en Jesús, pionero y consumador de la fe” Hebreos 12:2
Todos los deportes nos ponen a prueba, nos desafían y nos empujan a nuevos límites. ¡Esto es parte de la diversión y la aventura de los deportes! No te rindas incluso cuando estés cansado o tentado a renunciar. Sigue adelante con la perseverancia. Si lo haces en el sentido físico, también te ayudará a impulsarte cuando las cosas se pongan difíciles en tu vida espiritual.
4. “Y también el que lucha como atleta, no es coronado si no lucha legítimamente.” 2 Timoteo 2:5
No hace falta decir que el atleta Cristiano debe conocer y seguir las reglas en todo momento. Ya sea que hagas trampa en un juego con una jugada furtiva o en una práctica cuando no completas todas las vueltas que tu entrenador te pide, la única persona a la que realmente estás engañando es a tí mismo. La integridad es una virtud que demuestra que hacemos más que creer en Jesús, vivimos como Él.
5. “¿No sabéis que los que corren en el estadio, todos a la verdad corren pero, sólo uno se lleva el premio?. Corred de tal manera que lo obtengáis.” 1 Corinthians 9:24-15
Sea disciplinado y autocontrolado y dispuesto a hacer sacrificios. Estas son las marcas características tanto del deportista como del cristiano. Es la disciplina la que produce resultados.

La NOCHE SENIOR para Béisbol y Softbol será el jueves 22 de abril a las 4:45 pm en Liberty Stadium. Favor de acompañarnos para una noche especial en la que honramos a nuestros seniors. Ambos partidos se jugarán en Liberty Park, los chicos en el estadio y las chicas en el campo Vansell.
La noche del exámen físico GRATUITO será el domingo 25 de abril de 4:00 a 6:00 pm aquí en la escuela, favor de registrarse en las áreas comunes. Esta será la única noche de exámen físico que ofrecemos, no habrá otra hasta la primavera 2022.
