Since we begin Easter break tomorrow afternoon this will be our only Beat this week. The next Beat will come to you next on Friday, April 9. Happy Easter!
Special thanks and congratulations go out today to all those who pitched in to make the inaugural Catholic Schools Shootout a big success this past Saturday. Organizers Mrs. Martin, Mrs. Blackburn, Mrs. Van Leer and Mr. Chad Damlo did a wonderful job in preparation. We would also like to express appreciation to all the parents and coaches who pitched in to referee, assist with scoring, prepare the kids to play, etc. What a great tribute to teamwork!
In addition, we are very grateful to the cafeteria (and softball) staff, along with their many volunteers for the great job they did with the Mexican fiesta meal. This money will go to offset umpires for baseball and softball games this spring allowing us to not have to charge admission to the games.
Finally, thanks and congratulations go out to our visitors from St. Peters School in Marshall and St. Andrew’s School in Tipton. We had more than 160 participants in the building on Saturday and it certainly seemed to be a day of fun and fellowship among regional Catholic schools and Catholic school families.
None of this success would have been possible without our great t-shirt sponsors Bryant Motors and McDonald’s Restaurants. The t-shirts looked great and Catholic school families all over west-central MO will be wearing them proudly!
The senior mission trip and retreat were also a big success last week. Thank you so much for your prayers of support. We will include more about that great event in an upcoming Beat.
I hope you have had a blessed Lent and that your Holy Week is going well. We will have an all-school mass at 8:30 tomorrow morning in the McGremlin Gym. The remainder of the Holy Week events schedule is included in the message from the Pastors below.

Senior Celebrations
Tania Bhardwaj
Tania will be attending the University of Missouri Kansas City in the fall. She is interested in a major in health sciences. She is interested in becoming a physician’s assistant. Tania has lots of family in the medical field and has loved listening to the stories of their experiences over the years. She says she is very excited about this next chapter..Mom, however, not so much. Tania admits to her mom spoiling her a bit, wanting to do things for her. She feels very prepared, other than the fact she does not know how to do her own laundry! That’s a quick fix!

The Scholastic Book Fair last week was a smashing success!
Thank you to everyone who created an e-wallet, sent money, came to our before and after school events, shopped the fair, our students, the volunteers, and of course our faculty and staff. Book Fair week is always an exciting time and it is evident that our students love books (and shopping!)
We were able to get over 900+ books in the hands of our students which equates to over 177,149 reading minutes!

Juniors Experience Project FIT (Fourty-Hour Internship Tryout)
The Junior class participated in the annual Project FIT (Forty Hour Internship Tryout) last week. Upon doing some career interest research with Mrs. Buckley, she schedules the students to shadow a mentor in the career of their choice for a five-day school week. This year, due to covid, FIT week looked a bit different.
Mrs. Buckley made arrangements for presenters, in the students’ fields of interest, to come to the school or Zoom with a presentation, if they preferred. We welcomed several presenters over a two day period. We heard from such professionals as Dr. Jones (veterinarian), Mr. Jorge Guevarra (business entrepreneur), Kristin Arnold (athletic trainer) Rose McMullin (director of nursing BRHC), Trooper Grose (MO Highway Patrol), Phillip Sawyer (Pettis Co. prosecutor), Israel Baeza (Pettis Co Eastern Commissioner), Dr. Doug Kiburz (orthopedic surgeon) and Russ Schupp (computer programming instructor). We are very grateful to all of our presenters! We learned so much!
On Thursday and Friday of FIT week, the class did some community service projects. They helped at our local humane society and did some painting for our parks and recreation department. They had fun giving back!
You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown a Big Hit!
A standing ovation to Mrs. Bahner, Mr. Hartman, and the entire cast and crew of “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Limited seating capacity sold out quickly, and because of demand, we were able to open more seats to this entertaining show. These students did an incredible job and we can’t wait to see what takes the stage next year!
Fine Arts Spring Recital #2
Spring fever hit Sacred Heart during the second of three spring concerts featuring SHS vocalists, pianists, and local musicians. COVID has prevented SHS from hosting its traditional all-school elementary concert, but the show must go on! Music director, Mr. Darrin Hartman, got creative by hosting a spring recital series. The series features select student performers and professional musicians from around the area. Friday’s concert, performed in front of the entire student body and family members of the performers, featured piano performances by Angelo Caraballo, Cooper Hladick, R.J. Hladick, Thomas Jenkins, Zach Anderson, and Sophie Anderson and vocal selections by Mariah Van Leer, Kyler Downing, and a sextet from Mrs. Heggers 4th grade class singing a traditional Irish tune Molly Malone featuring, Aspen Carl, Samuel Diller, Kale McCollester, Johnhenry Cordia, Frannie Morris, and Audrey Bawcom. Local talent, Barbara Schrader, played some violin works by composer of the month Antonio Vivaldi, and our very own Mrs. Andrea Henke gave us goosebumps with her vocal performance, which included “Memory” from the musical “Cats.” Bravo!

SCRIPing for Easter Celebration
Easter is almost upon us! Now is a good time to start planning for your Easter meal and celebration activities. You can use Scrip gift cards to buy not only your Easter outfits, groceries, table decorations, ingredients to dye eggs, but also fillers for your kid’s Easter baskets! If you want to include something other than candy in your kid’s basket, consider low denomination gift cards as an option. No matter what you are planning, Scrip has gift cards to meet your needs!
Our next in-house order will be Tuesday, April 6th. All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school on Wednesday, March 31st, or submitted through the RaiseRight app by the end of day on Monday, April 5th, should be ready for pick-up the following week. If you haven’t set up your account through the RaiseRight app, it’s not too late. On average, it only takes 10-15 minutes to set-up your account and start earning rebates to use towards tuition.
We will not sell Scrip after Masses on Palm Sunday or Easter weekend. If you need to pick-up physical gift cards, stop by the school office to shop from our great selection. We have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). ¡Buenas tardes a todos!
Dado que mañana por la tarde comienzan las vacaciones de Pascua, este será el único Beat de esta semana. El próximo Beat se enviará el viernes 9 de abril. ¡Felices Pascuas de Resurrección!
Un agradecimiento especial y felicitaciones para todos aquellos que el sábado pasado colaboraron para hacer que el Concurso Inaugural de Tiro de las Escuelas Católicas fuera un éxito. Los organizadores, la Sra. Martin, la Sra. Blackburn, la Sra. Van Leer y el Sr. Chad Damlo hicieron un trabajo maravilloso en la preparación. También nos gustaría expresar nuestro agradecimiento a todos los padres y entrenadores que colaboraron para arbitrar, ayudar con la puntuación, preparar a los niños para jugar, etc. ¡Un gran tributo al trabajo en equipo!
Además, estamos muy agradecidos con el personal de la cafetería (y con softbol), junto con sus voluntarios por el gran trabajo que hicieron con la comida de la fiesta mexicana. Este dinero se destinará a compensar a los árbitros para los juegos de béisbol y softbol esta primavera, lo que nos permitirá no tener que cobrar la entrada a los juegos.
Finalmente, agradecemos y felicitamos a nuestros visitantes de St. Peters School en Marshall y St. Andrew’s School en Tipton. Tuvimos más de 160 participantes en el edificio el día sábado y ciertamente pareció ser un día de diversión y compañerismo entre las escuelas católicas regionales y las familias de las escuelas Católicas.

Tania Bhardwaj
Tania asistirá a University of Missouri Kansas City en el otoño. Está interesada en una especialización en Ciencias de la Salud. Le interesa convertirse en asistente médico. Tania tiene muchos familiares en el campo médico y le ha encantado escuchar las historias de sus experiencias a lo largo de los años. Dice estar muy emocionada con el próximo capítulo… Sin embargo su mamá, no tanto. Tania admite que su madre la mima un poco, haciendo cosas por ella. Se siente muy preparada, aparte del hecho que ¡no sabe cómo lavar su propia ropa! ¡Eso se arregla fácilmente!

La Feria del Libro Scholastic fue un ¡rotundo éxito!
Gracias a todos los que crearon una billetera electrónica, enviaron dinero, vinieron a nuestros eventos después y antes de clases, compraron en la feria, a nuestros estudiantes, a los voluntarios y por supuesto a nuestros maestros y personal. La semana de la Feria del Libro es siempre un momento emocionante y es evidente que a nuestros estudiantes les encantan los libros (¡y las compras!).
Pudimos poner más de 900 libros en las manos de nuestros estudiantes, ¡lo que equivale a más de 177,149 minutos de lectura!

Los Junior Experimentan el Proyecto Fit – Prueba de Pasantía de 40 horas
La semana pasada, la generación Junior participó en el Proyecto Anual FIT (Prueba de Pasantía de 40 horas). Después de hacer una investigación de interés profesional con la Sra. Buckley, ella programa a los estudiantes para que sigan a un mentor en la carrera de su elección durante durante una semana escolar de 5 días. Este año, debido a covid, la semana FIT se volvió un poco diferente.
La Sra. Buckley, hizo arreglos para que los presentadores, en los campos de interés de los estudiantes, vinieran a la escuela o una presentación con Zoom si así lo preferían. Dimos la bienvenida a varios presentadores durante un período de dos días. Escuchamos a presentadores como el Dr. Jones (veterinario), el Sr. Jorge Guevarra (emprendedor de negocios), Kristin Arnold (entrenadora deportiva) Rose McMullin (directora de enfermería de BRHC), Trooper Grose (MO Highway Patrol), Phillip Sawyer (Fiscal de Pettis Co.), Israel Baeza (Comisionado Este de Pettis Co), el Dr. Doug Kiburz (cirujano ortopedista) y Russ Schupp (instructor de programación informática). ¡Estamos muy agradecidos con todos nuestros presentadores! ¡Aprendimos mucho!
El jueves y viernes de la semana FIT, la generación realizó algunos proyectos de servicio comunitario. Ayudaron en nuestra sociedad humanitaria local e hicieron algunas pinturas para nuestro departamento de parques y recreación. ¡Se divirtieron retribuyendo!
You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown ¡Un Gran Éxito!
Una ovación de pie para el Sr. Bahner, el Sr. Hartman y todo el elenco y el equipo de “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” La capacidad limitada de asientos se agotó rápidamente y debido a la demanda, pudimos abrir más asientos para este entretenido espectáculo. Los estudiantes hicieron un trabajo increíble y ¡estamos ansiosos por ver que habrá en el escenario el próximo año!
Recital de Primavera #2
La fiebre de primavera golpeó a Sacred Heart durante el segundo de los tres conciertos de primavera con vocalistas, pianistas y músicos locales de SHS. COVID ha impedido que SHS organice su tradicional concierto de primaria para toda la escuela pero ¡el espectáculo debe de continuar! El director musical, el Sr. Darrin Hartman, se volvió creativo al presentar una serie de recitales de primavera. La serie presenta a estudiantes seleccionados y músicos profesionales de la zona. El concierto del viernes, realizado frente a todo el alumnado y familiares de los intérpretes, contó con actuaciones de piano de Angelo Caraballo, Cooper Hladick, R.J. Hladick, Thomas Jenkins, Zach Anderson y Sophie Anderson y selecciones vocales de Mariah Van Leer, Kyler Downing y un sexteto de la clase de de 4to grado de la Sra. Hegger cantando una melodía tradicional irlandesa Molly Malone interpretada por Aspen Carl, Samuel Diller, Kale McCollester, Johnhenry Cordia, Frannie Morris y Audrey Bawcom. La talentosa, Barbara Schrader, tocó algunas obras de violín del compositor del mes Antonio Vivaldi y nuestra Sra. Andrea Henke nos puso la piel chinita con su interpretación vocal, que incluyó “Memory” del musical “Cats.” ¡Bravo!

SCRIPing para la Celebración de Pascua
¡La Pascua está casi sobre nosotros! Ahora es un buen momento para comenzar a planificar la comida de Pascua y las actividades de celebración. Puede utilizar las tarjetas de regalo Scrip para comprar no solo sus atuendos de Pascua, comestibles, decoraciones de mesa, ingredientes para para teñir huevos sino ¡también para rellenar las canastas de Pascua de sus hijos!. Si desea incluir algo más que un dulce en la canasta de su hijo, considere las tarjetas de regalo de baja denominación como una opción. No importa lo que esté planeando, ¡Scrip tiene tarjetas de regalo para cubrir sus necesidades!
Nuestra próxima orden en casa será el martes 6 de abril.
