Good afternoon everyone and Happy Friday!
The enrollment process for 21-22 continues to roll along. Next week is the last week for enrollment meetings in regard to the influence they will have on class sizes prior to teacher contracts being presented on March 15. Mrs. Pyle is looking to add 20 more families to her schedule next week for meetings that will assist her in meeting her goals. There are plenty of open appointments to select from. If you have not already met with her please snap up one of these appointment slots!
Mrs. Pyle will be connecting with the parents on the kindergarten list next week to assist them in working through the process. We will be establishing a kindergarten screen follow-up day in late April for any families with kindergarten students who were not able to make the first round of screenings last week. Please contact the school office for more information on that. Looks like the Class of 2034 is going to be awesome!
Mrs. Bolin is very excited to announce that she is in the process of beginning to get a group together to go to the National Catholic Youth Conference (NCYC) next fall! This event is targeted at students currently in the 8th through 11th grades. NCYC 2021 is scheduled for November 18 – 20, 2021 in Indianapolis, but the planning must begin very soon as arrangements and reservations have to be made this summer. Please be watching for more information from the Campus Ministry department!
We are starting to see bigger and bigger crowds each weekend at the masses. I hope each of you will be able to worship as a family this weekend. The kids need to be there. God bless you and have a wonderful weekend!

Second Grade Received the Children’s Bible Stories for their Armor of Discipleship!
On Wednesday, March 3, our Second Grade students received their own Bible Stories Book as their armor of discipleship. Bible stories, especially when shared with family, are so important to be familiar with especially as they prepare to receive First Communion and continue to celebrate the Eucharist during Mass at Masses with their classmates and most importantly on the weekends with their family. Let’s all use this Lenten opportunity to spend some time reading the bible individually and as a family.
Visiting Priest, Fr. Mark Smith from Saint Peter, Marshall helped with Confessions. Tuesday through Thursday our students, faculty and staff had the opportunity to go to the sacrament of reconciliation or to receive prayer and a blessing. Fr Joe was in Wichita at a Stewardship Conference and so Fr. Mark Smith from St. Peter in Marshall came over to assist. Everyone in the parish is invited and encouraged to attend anywhere from 4-6pm on Sunday March 14 at St. Patrick for the parish wide reconciliation time. Please do not unintentionally teach that this is a sacrament just for kids or one they grow out of receiving. Receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation is one of the best Lenten practices we have as a Church.
SHS Mathletes place in Cole Camp math competition
A small team didn’t stop Sacred Heart from showing up big in the standings at the Cole Camp High School math contest on Feb. 28. Competing for the first time this season, each mathlete on the SHS freshman/sophomore team of six earned multiple medals. Sacred Heart placed in the top five 15 times in individual competition and took home two team medals in its division.
Included among the 15 individual medals, Mariah Van Leer earned top freshman and Kate Carney earned top sophomore. In class competition, the three-member sophomore team took first place and the three-member freshman team took 2nd place.
“These students did an amazing job today,” said Mrs. Kara Hill, SHS math instructor and math team sponsor. “They were up against five other schools and about 30 students per grade level. We’re looking forward to seeing how things take shape at the Kaysinger Math Competition on March 8 when we bring a full team.”
The math team will be seeking its 11th Kaysinger conference title in 13 years.

Spring Musical is ALMOST HERE – GET YOUR TICKETS!
Good Grief — the SHHS Spring Musical is back!!! Last year, just days before the curtain was to open, the country shut down due to the pandemic. The show must go on and SHS is thrilled to bring Charlie Brown to the stage with returning cast and a host of new members that will put on an entertaining family-friendly show. Tickets are $5 each and are available at the school office and at the night of the show.

Ronnie will head to State Fair Community College in August. She is going to major in psychology. She loves the idea of helping people with their emotional health. Ronnie is especially interested in working with teens and young adults. She feels as though being close to this age herself, she could relate well with the challenges this generation faces currently. She is excited to move on to this next chapter! The only thing she is a little nervous about is larger class sizes. She wonders if the college instructors will give her the one on one attention that she is used to receiving at Sacred Heart.

SCRIPing for Spring Uniforms
It’s shorts season at school! Students are now allowed to wear shorts to school as of this week. If you haven’t already stocked your spring uniform supply, now is a great time to use Scrip to purchase what you need and earn rebates to use towards tuition! If you haven’t set up your account through the RaiseRight app, it’s not too late. On average, it only takes 10-15 minutes to set-up your account and start earning rebates to use towards tuition.
Don’t forget to stop by the school office Monday through Friday from 8am – 3pm to shop from our great selection of physical gift cards. We have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). If you can’t make it to the office during the week, look for us after Mass this weekend. Our next in house order will be Wednesday, March 17th. ¡Buenas Tardes a Todos y Feliz Viernes!
El proceso de inscripción para 21-22 continúa avanzando. La próxima semana es la última semana para las reuniones de inscripción respecto a la influencia que tendrán en el tamaño de las clases antes de que se presenten los contratos de maestros el 15 de marzo. La Sra. Pyle espera agregar 20 familias más a su horario la próxima semana lo que le ayudará a alcanzar su objetivo. Hay muchas citas disponibles para elegir. La Sra. Pyle se comunicará con los padres en la lista de Kindergarten la próxima semana para ayudarlos a trabajar en el proceso. ¡Segundo Grado recibió Historias de la Biblia para Niños para su Armadura del Discipulado!
El miércoles 3 de marzo, nuestros estudiantes de Segundo Grado recibieron su propio Libro de Historias Bíblicas como armadura del discipulado. Es muy importante familiarizarse con las historias bíblicas, especialmente cuando se preparan para recibir la Primera Comunión y continúan celebrando la Eucaristía durante la misa, en las misas con sus compañeros de clase y lo más importante, los fines de semana con su familia. Aprovechemos todos esta oportunidad de Cuaresma para pasar un tiempo leyendo la Biblia individualmente y en familia.
El Sacerdote Visitante, P. Smith de Saint Peter, Marshall ayudó con las confesiones. De martes a jueves nuestros estudiantes, personal y maestros tuvieron la oportunidad de asistir al sacramento de la reconciliación o de recibir oración y bendición. El Padre Joe estuvo de visita en una Conferencia de Corresponsabilidad y por la tanto el Padre Mark Smith de Saint Peter en Marshall vino a ayudar. Todos en la parroquia están invitados a asistir el domingo 14 de marzo entre las 4:00 y 6:00 de la tarde para el tiempo de reconciliación de toda la parroquia. Por favor, no enseñe sin querer que este es un sacramento sólo para niños o que no se recibe una vez que crecen. Recibir el sacramento de la Reconciliación es una de las mejores prácticas de Cuaresma que tenemos como Iglesia.
SHS Mathletes se lleva a cabo en la competencia de matemáticas en Cole Camp
Un equipo pequeño no impidió que Sacred Heart apareciera en grande en la calificación en el concurso de matemáticas de Cole Camp High School el 28 de febrero. Compitiendo por primera vez esta temporada, cada atleta de matemáticas en el equipo de seis estudiantes de noveno y décimo grado (freshman/sophomore) ganó múltiples medallas. El Sagrado Corazón se ubicó entre los 5 primeros, 15 veces en competencia individual y se llevó a casa dos medallas de equipo.
Incluida entre las 15 medallas individuales, Mariah Van Leer ganó la mejor estudiante de noveno grado (freshman) y Kate Carney ganó la mejor estudiante de décimo grado (sophomore). En la competencia de clase, el equipo de estudiantes de tres miembros de décimo grado (sophomore) obtuvo el primer lugar y el equipo de estudiantes de noveno grado (freshman) obtuvo el segundo lugar.
“Estos estudiantes hicieron un trabajo increíble hoy”, dijo la Sra. Kill, instructora de matemáticas de SHS y coordinadora del equipo de matemáticas. “Se enfrentaron a otras cinco escuelas y 30 estudiantes por nivel de grado. Esperamos ver como toman forma las cosas en la Competencia de Matemáticas Kaysenger el 8 de marzo.”
El equipo de matemáticas buscará su onceavo título en la conferencia en 13 años.

Ronnie irá a State Fair Community College en Agosto. Se va a especializar en Psicología. Le encanta la idea de ayudar a las personas con su salud emocional. Ronnie está especialmente interesada en trabajar con adolescentes y adultos jóvenes. Ella misma siente como si ella misma estuviera cerca de esta edad por lo que podría relacionarse bien con los desafíos que enfrenta esta generación. ¡Está emocionada de pasar al próximo capítulo!. Lo único que la pone un poco nerviosa es el tamaño de las clases más grandes. Se pregunta si los instructores de la universidad le darán la atención personalizada que está acostumbrada a recibir en el Sagrado Corazón.

Estamos esforzándonos por trabajar en procesos de comunicación mejorados y simplificados. Cada entrenador debe de tener una aplicación aprobada que esté usando para comunicarse con el equipo y/o los padres.
