Greetings All,
I hope the children had a wonderful four-day weekend. The faculty professional development day on Friday was productive and I am hoping everyone took some extra time to rest and recharge yesterday!
Friday night’s activities were a smashing success. The elementary cheerleaders were talented and adorable, as always. The ‘Pink Out’ night hosted by Student Council raised valuable funds and important awareness for the work being done by local non-profit Cancer Perks. The basketball teams put on an enjoyable show for the fans. There is a more in-depth recap on each of these events found below. Well done, Gremlins!
This past Thursday we had a special impromptu assembly to offer a huge thank you. We received incredible news late last summer that the Hayden Freedom Foundation gifted our SHS Foundation an annual donation of $25,000 in perpetuity. 100% of funding generated by our SHS Foundation supports the immediate and long-term needs of SHS. It is truly humbling to think of a gift that will continue for as long as our school exists.
The Hayden Family stopped by on Thursday for a ceremonial check photo op and we surprised them by having our student body, faculty, and staff on hand as we offered a giant Thank You! The Hayden Freedom Foundation was established by Robert and Barbara Hayden. They are the grandparents of SHS students Camren (class of ‘17), Dylan (class of ’18) and Madison Hayden (class of ’20) and Hayden (senior class of ’21), and Samantha Altena (class of ’24).
It is this kind of magnanimous generosity that makes it possible for SHS to continue successfully serving the families of St. Vincent de Paul Parish and the surrounding region. Thanks to the Hayden Family and to EACH and EVERY one of you for your support in so many ways!

Message From the Pastors
XLT Adoration
Today the students, once again, had the opportunity to spend some quiet time in front of the Blessed Sacrament during XLT Holy Hour. We are helping our young disciples become students of silence so they can hear God speak to them in the quietness; silence is something we all need to grow in so that we can better hear and discern his will for us. This also gives us the courage to follow where He leads. As a reminder, we offer exposition of the Blessed Sacrament for 9 am to 9 pm on Tuesdays and 9 am to 5:45 pm on Fridays. All are invited! What a great place to find peace and calm in the midst of the challenges facing us today.
Eighth Grade Armor of Discipleship
On January 21, at 12:15 pm, the eighth-grade students will receive their armor of God during a prayer service which will be the Theology of His Body; Theology of Her Body by Jason Evert, international speaker, and author. All eighth-grade parents are invited to this special prayer service at Sacred Heart Chapel.
Souper Bowl Soup Drive
St. Vincent de Paul Parish will, once again, be participating in the Open Door Food Pantries “Souper Bowl” Sunday. Soup is a great option for nutrition as it is filling in low-density energy and can increase the amount of vegetables one eats in a day. We ask that you donate cans of soup each week and let’s fill up the Open Door Pantry and help fight hunger here in Pettis County. Please bring your cans of soup to any of the St Vincent de Paul chapels or give it to your child to bring to the St Joseph Shrine just inside the main doors to the school by the slightly used uniform bins.
Pink Out Recap
A big thank you to everyone that supported Pink Out night last Friday hosted by the Student Council (STUCO). All funds raised have been donated to Cancer Perks, the night was a huge success! Special Pink Out T-shirts were sold and a basketball signed by the high school basketball teams was auctioned off.
As a special surprise during halftime of the boys game the signed basketball was presented to our own Mrs. Hagebusch.
STUCO President, Caten Lucchesi presented a check to Cancer Perks in the amount of $1525.66!
Donations are still being accepted. If you would like a Pink Out Shirt or make a donation to contact Mrs. Starke or Mrs. Howell. Way to go Sacred Heart! You always come out and support our community in a big way!
Cheer Clinic Recap
The Sacred Heart Varsity Cheerleaders held their annual Cheer Clinic last Friday welcoming 68 future cheerleaders (64 girls and 4 boys). Clinic activities included pizza, games, crafts and lots of practice on a fun routine that was performed during the halftime of the Varsity Girls basketball game. From the Heart Annual Magazine
We recently had an alumnus reach out and give to our Annual Fund Drive for the very first time. He said the older he gets the more he appreciates what he was given. Reading our From the Heart magazine reminded him how much he values the families, educators, and priests, and nuns he associated with during his time at Sacred Heart School.
As you read through our latest issue of From the Heart, consider how fortunate we are to have an amazing K-12 school here in Sedalia that gave you or someone you know a great education. We can continue to do that with your prayers and continued support.

Spring Musical is BACK
Good Grief — the SHHS Spring Musical is back!!!
On March 19-20, 2021, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown is coming to the Liberty Center stage. We need to re-cast three leading roles for this production: Charlie Brown, Schroeder, and Snoopy. We also need a stage crew for lighting technician, sound technician, and stage managers.
If you are interested in being part of the Peanuts Gang, please come to the music room immediately after school on Friday, January 22 for more information and auditions. You don’t need to prepare anything, just show up!
If you’re a Sacred Heart student interested but can’t be there Friday, please see Mr. Hartman ASAP.
SHS to Host Kindergarten Screening
Sacred Heart School in Sedalia is offering free kindergarten developmental readiness screenings February 16-18. All children who will be 5 years of age by July 31, 2021, are invited to attend. Please contact the Sacred Heart School Admissions Office at (660) 827-3800 to schedule an appointment. SHS is a distinguished co-educational school for preschool through 12th-grade students. Bus services are available for students in Warrensburg, LaMonte, WAFB, and surrounding areas.
Each child is unique. However, this assessment provides parents with an opportunity to see how their child is progressing in relation to children of the same age. Families interested in enrolling at Sacred Heart for the 2021 – 2022 school year will have the opportunity to tour the campus, receive enrollment paperwork, and meet the kindergarten teachers. The screening is encouraged even if parents feel they may want to hold their child another year.

Saludos a todos,
Espero que los niños hayan tenido un maravilloso fin de semana de 4 días. El día viernes de Desarrollo Profesional de los Maestros fue productivo y ¡espero que todos hayan tomado el día de ayer un tiempo extra para descansar y recargar energía!
Las actividades del viernes por la noche fueron un éxito rotundo. Las porristas de primaria fueron talentosas y adorables como siempre. La noche ‘Pink Out’ recaudó fondos valiosos e hizo una concientización importante sobre el trabajo que está realizando la gente de Cancer Perks. Y los equipos de baloncesto hicieron todo lo posible para ofrecer un espectáculo agradable a los aficionados. A continuación encontrarás un resumen más detallado de cada uno de los eventos. ¡Bien hecho Gremlins!
El jueves pasado, tuvimos una asamblea especial improvisada para ofrecer un gran agradecimiento. A finales del verano pasado, recibimos noticias increíbles de que la Fundación Hayden Freedom otorgó a nuestra Fundación SHS una donación anual de $25,000 a perpetuidad. El 100% de los fondos generados por nuestra Fundación SHS respalda las necesidades inmediatas y a largo plazo de SHS y es realmente conmovedor pensar en un regalo que continuará mientras nuestra escuela exista.
El jueves pasado la Familia Hayden se detuvo para una sesión fotográfica ceremonial y los sorprendimos al tener a nuestro cuerpo estudiantil, maestros y personal administrativo disponible para ofrecerles un ¡gran agradecimiento!. La Fundación Hayden Freedom fue establecida por Robert y Barbara Hayden. Ellos son abuelos de estudiantes de SHS, Camren Hayden (generación ‘17), Dylan Hyden (generación ‘18) y Madison Hayden (generación ‘20) y de Hayden Altena (generación senior ‘21) y Samantha Altena (generación ‘24)

Adoración XLT
Una vez más, el día de hoy, los estudiantes tuvieron la oportunidad de pasar un tiempo de tranquilidad frente al Santísimo Sacramento durante la Hora Santa XLT. Estamos ayudando a nuestros jóvenes discípulos a convertirse en estudiantes del silencio para que puedan escuchar a Dios hablándoles en la quietud; el silencio es algo en lo que todos necesitamos crecer para poder escuchar mejor y discernir su voluntad para con nosotros. Esto también nos da el valor para seguir a donde Él nos lleve. Recordatorio, los martes ofrecemos la exposición del Santísimo Sacramento de 9:00 am a 9:00 pm y los viernes de 9:00 am a 5:45 pm. ¡Todos están invitados! Que gran lugar para encontrar paz y tranquilidad en medio de los desafíos que enfrentamos hoy.
Armadura del Discipulado de Octavo Grado
El 21 de enero a las 12:15 pm, los estudiantes de octavo grado recibirán su armadura de Dios durante un servicio de oración que será la Teología de su Cuerpo para hombres y la Teología de su Cuerpo para mujeres, por Jason Evert, orador y autor internacional. Todos los padres de alumnos de octavo grado están invitados a este servicio de oración especial en la Capilla del Sagrado Corazón.
Colecta de Sopa “Souper Bowl”
Una vez más, la Parroquia de San Vicente de Paul participará en el domingo del “Souper Bowl” del Almacén de Alimentos de Open Door. La sopa es una excelente opción de nutrientes ya que aporta baja densidad energética e incrementa la cantidad de verduras que se comen al día. Le pedimos donar cada semana latas de sopa y así llenamos la despensa de Open Door y ayudamos a combatir el hambre aquí en el Condado de Pettis.
Pink Out Recap
Un gran agradecimiento a todos los que el viernes pasado apoyaron la noche Pink Out organizada por el Consejo de Estudiantes (STUCO). Todos los fondos recaudados fueron donados a Cancer Perks, ¡la noche fue un gran éxito!. Se vendieron camisetas especiales de Pink Out y se subastó una pelota de baloncesto firmada por los equipos de baloncesto de high school. Como sorpresa especial, la pelota de baloncesto se entregó a la Sra. Hagebusch durante el medio tiempo del juego varonil.
Caten Lucchesi, actual presidenta de STUCO, entregó un cheque a Cancer Perks por la cantidad de $1,525.66.

Resumen de la Clínica de Porristas
El viernes pasado las Porristas Categoría Varsity del Sagrado Corazón celebraron su Clínica Anual de Porristas dando la bienvenida a 68 futuros porristas (64 niñas y 4 niños). Las actividades de la Clínica incluyeron pizza, juegos, manualidades y mucha práctica en una divertida rutina que se realizó durante el medio tiempo del juego de Baloncesto Femenil Categoría Varsity. Revista Anual From the Heart
Recientemente, un ex alumno se acercó y donó a nuestra Campaña Anual de Fondos por primera vez. Dijo que cuanto más envejece más aprecia lo que recibió. La lectura de nuestra revista From the Heart le recordó lo mucho que valora a las familias, educadores y sacerdotes y monjas con las que se relacionó durante su tiempo en la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón.
Mientras lee nuestro último número de From the Heart, considere lo afortunados que somos de tener una escuela increíble de K a 12 aquí en Sedalia que le brindó a usted o a alguien que conoce una excelente educación. Podemos seguir haciéndolo con nuestras oraciones y apoyo continuo.

El Musical de Primavera HA VUELTO
¡¡¡Estupendo — El Musical de Primavera de SHHS ha vuelto!!!
El 19 y 20 de marzo de 2021, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown llegará al escenario de Liberty Center. Necesitamos volver a elegir tres papeles principales para esta producción: Charlie Brown, Schroeder y Snoopy. También necesitamos equipo de escenografía para técnico de iluminación, técnico de sonido y directores de escenario.
Si está interesado en ser parte de la Banda Peanuts, favor de ir al salón de música el viernes 22 de enero inmediatamente después de clases para obtener más información y audiciones. No necesita prepararse para nada, ¡sólo preséntese!

SHS organiza Evaluación para Kindergarten
Del 16 al 18 de febrero, la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón en Sedalia ofrecerá evaluaciones gratuitas de preparación para el desarrollo de Kindergarten. Están invitados a asistir todos los niños con 5 años cumplidos antes del 31 de julio, 2021. Favor de comunicarse con la Oficina de Admisiones de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón al (660) 827-3800 para programar una cita. SHS es una distinguida escuela mixta para estudiantes desde preescolar hasta doceavo grado. El servicio de autobús está disponible para estudiantes en Warrensburg, LaMonte, WAFB y áreas circundantes.
Cada niño es único. Sin embargo, esta evaluación brinda a los padres la oportunidad de ver el progreso de su hijo en relación con niños de la misma edad. Las familias interesadas en inscribirse en el Sagrado Corazón para el año escolar 2021-2022 tendrán la oportunidad de recorrer el campus, recibir documentación de la inscripción y conocer a las maestras de kindergarten.
