Good Afternoon Everyone and Happy Friday!
Semester finals are coming up next week. They will look just a little different this year as almost everything does in these unsettling times. Please know that we will work with quarantined students to give them the best possible opportunity for success. Other guidelines are as follows:
Dual-Credit and AP Courses:
We will follow the guidelines of the facilitating institution (i.e. CMU or SFCC). These exams may be administered over the course of two class periods if additional time is required.
Weighted Classes:
Cumulative finals are optional, although a formal assessment or project is required.
6th – 8th Grade:
There will be no cumulative final exams. Teachers will present students with an end of unit assessment or final project/activity.
9th – 12th Grade:
There will be no cumulative final exams. End of Unit Assessment is required for all 9-12 classes. This policy includes all specials.
You can check the website for the complete testing schedule. Please reach out to Mr. Jones if you wish further clarification on semester finals and the accompanying policies.
We also have an important and exciting ‘SAVE THE DATE’ to share with you today. We will be doing Freshman Orientation for incoming 9th graders and their parents on the evening of Wednesday, January 13th. If you have a freshman next year please mark off that date on your calendar. It is an information-packed evening. Be looking for more information in the days to come and PLEASE help us spread the word!
And, last but not least, we have nearly made it through the first semester and there seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel! Please stay aware of the THREE W’s for keeping the kids in school…

At the Mass on Wednesday of this week, the Gospel was Matthew 11: 28-30:
Jesus said to the crowds:
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
I invite you to stop what you are doing and just reflect on this for a few moments before going on to the rest of the Beat. Just take a moment, be still, and let the love and peace of God wash over you. Give it 30 seconds before continuing.

SAVE THE DATE for Kindergarten Screening – 2021-2022
Kindergarten Screenings for students entering Kindergarten in August of 2021 will be held on February 16-18. Families who are registered with St. Vincent de Paul Parish, are enrolled in Sacred Heart Preschool, or have older siblings currently enrolled in Sacred Heart will receive a phone call within the next week to schedule their screening appointment. If you feel that you might not be on our list, or know of someone who is interested in enrolling at Sacred Heart, please contact the school office.
Children must be 5 by July 31, 2021, in order to enroll in Kindergarten for the 2021-2022 school year.
Gremlin Student Store is NOW OPEN
Need a Christmas Gift? Stop by the Gremlin Store to get a gaiter, ornament, tumbler, or water bottle. We have limited supplies.
The store is open every day after school, at games, and by appointment. Contact Mrs. Starke or Mrs. Howell
SCRIPing Your Holiday Gift Giving Needs
There is still time to use SCRIP to help you with your holiday gift-giving, and save on your tuition at the same time! SCRIP offers over 750 brands to choose from to find the perfect gift for your family, friends, and co-workers. With the challenges of gathering together this holiday season, consider sending either electronic or physical gift cards as an option. Gift cards give your loved ones the choice of shopping online from home or going to the store.
Making it even easier for you this year, you can now ship physical gift cards to your home for some of SCRIP’s most popular brands. Check out the RaiseRight app to see a list of participating brands and details. You may need to update your app to take advantage of this new option. If you haven’t downloaded the new app yet, look for the instructions (in both English and Spanish) on the school website under forms.
Don’t forget to stop by the school office Monday through Friday to shop from our great selection of physical gift cards. We have several brands ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). If you can’t make it to school, look for our table with our full assortment of cards after Masses this Sunday, December 13th at Sacred Heart and St. Patrick’s, or with a limited assortment after all Masses this Saturday, December 12th at St. John’s and St. Patrick’s. Annual Christmas Eve Dinners sponsored by NHS
The annual NHS Christmas Eve Dinner will be offered as a curbside, pick up a meal for all those in need on December 24th. Pickup will be available between 8 am-1 pm in the circle drive in front of Sacred Heart School. Directional signs will be out to help lead the way, come, and enjoy a wonderful Christmas meal complete with pie!

Las finales del semestre se acercan la próxima semana. Este año se verán un poco diferentes como pasa con casi todo en estos tiempos inquietantes. Tenga en cuenta que trabajaremos con los estudiantes en cuarentena para brindarles la mejor oportunidad de éxito posible. A continuación otros lineamientos.
Créditos- Duales y Cursos AP:
Seguiremos los lineamientos de la institución facilitadora (por ejemplo CMU o SFCC). Estos exámenes se pueden administrar en el transcurso de dos períodos de clase si se requiere tiempo adicional.
Clases Ponderadas:
Las finales acumulativas son opcionales, aunque se requiere una evaluación o proyecto final.
6to a 8vo Grado:
No habrá exámenes acumulativos finales. Los maestros presentarán a los alumnos una evaluación de final de unidad o un proyecto/actividad final.
9no a 12vo Grado:
No habrá exámenes acumulativos finales. Se requiere Evaluación Final de Unidad para todos los grupos de 9no a 12vo. Esta política incluye todas las especiales.
Puede consultar el sitio de internet para conocer el calendario completo de pruebas. Favor de comunicarse con el Sr. Jones si desea aclarar alguna información sobre los exámenes finales del semestre y las políticas correspondientes.
También tenemos una importante y emocionante fecha ‘SAVE THE DATE’ que compartir con ustedes. El miércoles 13 de enero, estaremos organizando la Orientación Freshman para los estudiantes que ingresan a 9no grado y sus padres. Si usted tiene un estudiante de 9no grado el próximo año, marque esa fecha en su calendario. Es una noche llena de información. ¡Espere más información en los próximos días y POR FAVOR ayúdenos a correr la voz!
Y por último pero no menos importante, ¡casi hemos terminado el primer semestre y parece haber una luz al final del túnel! Tenga en cuenta las TRES W’s para mantener a los estudiantes en la escuela…

Preparativos para la Navidad, terminar el semestre, una pandemia, una nación dividida, temores financieros, problemas familiares… y aquí está la invitación de Jesús.

“Venid a mí todos los que estáis trabajados y cargados y yo os haré descansar. Llevad mi yugo sobre vosotros y aprendan de mí, que soy manso y humilde de corazón; y hallaréis descanso para vuestras almas. Porque mi yugo es fácil y ligera mi carga”
Los invito a que dejen de hacer lo que están haciendo y reflexione sobre esto por unos momentos antes de continuar con el Beat. Sólo tome un momento, quédese quieto y deje que lo inunden el amor y paz de Dios . Dese 30 segundos antes de continuar.

“SAVE THE DATE” APARTE LA FECHA para la Evaluación de Kindergarten 2021-2022
Las Evaluaciones de Kindergarten para los estudiantes que ingresen al Kindergarten en agosto de 2021 se llevarán a cabo del 16 al 18 de febrero. Las familias que están inscritas en la Parroquia de San Vicente de Paul, inscritas en el Preescolar del Sagrado Corazón o tiene hermanos mayores actualmente inscritos en la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón recibirán una llamada telefónica durante la próxima semana para programar su cita de evaluación. Si cree que no está en nuestra lista o conoce a alguien que pudiera estar interesado en inscribir en la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón, favor de llamar a la oficina de la escuela.
Los niños deben de tener 5 años cumplidos antes del 31 de julio de 2021 para poderse inscribir en el Kindergarten del ciclo escolar 2021-2022.

Cena Anual de Nochebuena patrocinado por la Sociedad Nacional de Honor (NHS por sus siglas en inglés)
La Cena anual de Nochebuena de NHS se ofrecerá el 24 de diciembre para los necesitados como una comida para recoger en la acera. La recolección estará disponible de las 8:00 am a la 1:00 pm en la unidad circular frente a la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón. Habrá señales para ayudar a marcar el camino, ¡venga y disfrute de una maravillosa comida de Navidad completa con pay!
