Greetings All!
I would like to open today’s Beat with a shout out to Kyle Herrick and the great folks at Bryant Motors. They are responsible for providing the 12 passenger van we are currently utilizing and it has become a vital part of our operations. From the Warrensburg bus route to soccer games to loading up NHS for the adopt-a-highway project the Bryant Motors / SHS van is vital to our success. Thanks again to Kyle and his crew for all they do to support Sacred Heart School!
Just a quick shout out to SHS Senior Maria Mergen. Maria spoke to the Sedalia Rotary club yesterday as the school’s Student of the Month. She was honored alongside students from Smith-Cotton, Green Ridge, and Smithton. She represented herself and her school admirably!
Don’t forget: Wednesday will be our first paid dress down day of the year and the school will be hosting a blood drive from 12:00 – 5:15 pm in the Hoying Gym. Safety protocols are available in regard to where to enter the building, etc. Please contact Barb Hagebusch: bhagebusch@gogremlins.com to schedule an appointment. All donors will have their name placed in a raffle for a cool Chiefs item (TBD)!

Today our students were able to spend some much-needed quiet, prayer, and meditation in front of the Blessed Sacrament as Fr Dave Veit and Mr. Hartnan provided background music to assist their prayer. What a wonderful opportunity for our students!

MJM7, a concert for families to enjoy praise and worship returns Thursday, November 12 at 7 pm at McGremlin Gym. This will be their second appearance with us as they were here last year for a fall concert and were very well received by our community. This is a free-will offering concert. All bleachers in the gym will be down so there will be plenty of room for social distancing. Plan to come and give your family this time to reflect on God’s graces and listen to amazing music by Matte Mette and his four daughters. See and listen to more on their website: https://mjm7.band. SHS Celebrates Playground Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Sacred Heart School leadership, parents, students, and members of the community gathered Wednesday morning to officially celebrate the completion of the school’s playground resurfacing from pea gravel to interlocking surface tiles made from 100% recycled tire. Funding was made possible through private donations and grants through the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and West Central Missouri Solid Waste Management.
“The tiles greatly improve the safety and aesthetics of our playground while keeping old tires out of the landfill,” said Ryane City, SHS office manager, and playground committee member.
City added that the tile project alone will use approximately 70,420 pounds of Missouri tire, which is about 3,521 passenger tires.
The ceremonies kicked off with a greeting from Dr. Mark Register, SHS President, followed by a prayer and blessing of the playground from Fr. David Veit, Pastor in Solidum, St. Vincent de Paul. Celebratory remarks also came from Mardy Hostetler, project foreman; Susan Mergen, Chamber President; and Mayor John Kehde. A special donor recognition banner also was on display to recognize contributors to the project.
“We are most grateful to the staff and parents serving on our playground committee who worked for over a year to see this project from grant application to reality,” said Register. “Members of the SHS community pooling their gifts to make projects like this one possible is what has made Catholic Education historically special. This type of community spirit is what will carry us successfully into the future as well.”

Current COVID Situation in the High School
While the number of cases we have had of positive tests and students who have had to quarantine took a significant jump, we are still very thankful for the details that surround those numbers.

We currently have 35 students, 1 staff member who is out due to COVID positive or exposure. Out of those 36 people, 11 will be returning to school this week.

Out of the 8 positive cases (4 which are active), we suspect that only one of them was spread through transmission on school grounds.
-
Those who have been positive have exhibited minimal to mild symptoms.
We appreciate everything that is being done to keep our students and staff healthy and to limit the spread of COVID-19. We are hopeful that our numbers will remain steady and we can continue with in-person learning. Please continue to do your part by staying home if you have been a direct contact to someone who tested positive for COVID-19, are exhibiting any symptoms, or are awaiting test results.

Sacred Heart School is in need of a part-time custodian. The hours are approximately 10:30 am to 1:30 pm Monday thru Friday. If you are interested in this position or know someone who might be please have them contact the office for an application.

Soccer Senior Night

The varsity soccer team celebrated a win on Senior Night over the Cole Camp Bluebirds. Freshman George Bain scored the lone goal of the night with a dazzling header off a well-placed corner kick by Freshman Jackson Manning. During half-time, the Senior Class of 2021 was recognized for all of their amazing accolades and accomplishments as athletes and students. This special class has had to overcome so many obstacles this season, but have persevered to an 11-4 record on the year. The Grems are currently riding a 9 game winning streak and have not given up a single goal in that stretch of victories.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
In order to provide the safest and most effective conference experience to discuss your child’s progress, we have made some adjustments to the Parent-Teacher Conference night.

We will be canceling conferences and the early dismissal previously scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, and moving all conferences to Thursday, October 29.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, October 29!

The school will be open from 8 am to 8 pm on Thursday, October 29 for pre-scheduled
conferences. -
Each teacher will have a personal link that you will use to sign up for a 15-minute conference.

If you have a fourth or fifth-grade student, we request that you sign up for a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher.
-
If you would like to meet with one of the other teachers, you may sign up for a time, but please be mindful that you may lose that time if it is needed for a homeroom student. If your student is in junior high or high school and has multiple teachers, you may select whichever teachers you would like to meet with and they will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

In order to provide a safe meeting for our parents and teachers the following procedures will be in place:

Conferences will be limited to two parents (no students may attend).

There will be a minimum of 6 feet between the teachers and parents.

In order to allow time to sanitize, it is very important that you arrive for your assigned time and complete your conference within 15 minutes.

Dress Code Reminders for Cold Weather Seasons Boys and Girls

The cold weather season is defined as November 1st until March 1st.

Pants are to be worn. Shorts are not permitted. Girls are allowed to wear uniform skirts and rompers.

Your Gremlin Student Store is here to help you out! Come check out all of the encore performances of uniform pants, shirts, and Gremlin Gear. We have various sizes of pants for students in all grades. All items are $5 each or you can buy four and get one free. That means for only $20 you can have a pair of pants for every day of the week!

Gremlin Student Cafe
A big THANK YOU to all of the students who have supported the Gremlin Student Cafe. We are open every day after school for grades 6-12. Elementary students will be given the opportunity to visit the cafe based on their teacher’s directive.
The “Cake Lady” graciously donated Sugar and Chocolate Chip Cookies last Friday. They were a big hit!
Some of the featured items for this week include Hot Pockets, Hot Chocolate, Oh Snap! Pickles, and Lunchables.

Me gustaría empezar el Beat del día de hoy con un saludo a Kyle Herrick y la gran gente de Bryan Motors. Ellos son los responsables de proporcionar la camioneta de 12 pasajeros que utilizamos actualmente y se ha convertido en una parte vital de nuestras operaciones. SHS Celebra la Ceremonia de Corte de Listón del Área de Juegos
Los líderes, padres, estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón, se reunieron la mañana del miércoles para celebrar oficialmente la finalización de la renovación del área de juegos de la escuela de grava a superficie de losas entrelazadas hechas 100% de llanta reciclada. El financiamiento fue posible gracias a donaciones privadas y subvenciones a través de Missouri Department of Natural Resources y West Central Missouri Solid Waste Management.
“Las losas mejoran enormemente la seguridad y estética de nuestra área de juegos mientras mantienen las llantas viejas fuera del vertedero”. dijo Ryane City, Gerente de la Oficina de SHS y miembro del comité del área de juegos.
City agregó que tan sólo el proyecto de losas utilizará aproximadamente 70,420 libras de llantas de Missouri, que son aproximadamente 3,521 llantas de pasajeros.
Las ceremonias dieron inicio con un saludo del Dr. Register, Presidente de SHS, seguido de una oración y bendición del área de juegos por parte del Padre David Veit, Pastor in Solidum de San Vicente de Paul. Situación Actual de COVID en High School
Si bien la cantidad de casos que hemos tenido de pruebas positivas y de estudiantes que han tenido que poner en cuarentena dió un salto significativo, estamos muy agradecidos por los detalles que rodean esas cifras.

Actualmente tenemos 35 estudiantes, 1 miembro del personal que está fuera debido a COVID positivo o exposición. De esas 36 personas, 11 regresarán a la escuela esta semana.

De los 8 casos positivos (4 de los cuáles están activos), sospechamos que sólo uno de ellos se propagó por transmisión en el recinto escolar.

Aquellos que han sido positivos han presentado síntomas mínimos o leves.
Agradecemos todo lo que se está haciendo para mantener saludables a nuestros estudiantes y personal y limitar la propagación de COVID-19. Tenemos la esperanza de que nuestros números se mantengan estables y podamos continuar con el aprendizaje en persona. Continúe haciendo su parte quedándose en casa si ha estado en contacto directo con alguien que dio positivo por COVID-19, presenta algún síntoma o está esperando resultados.

Noche de Fútbol Senior

El equipo de fútbol categoría varsity celebró una victoria sobre los BlueBirds de Cole Camp en la Noche de Estudiantes Senior. El estudiante de noveno grado (freshman) George Bain anotó el único gol de la noche con un cabezazo deslumbrante en un tiro de esquina bien colocado por el freshman Jackson Manning. Durante el medio tiempo la Generación Senior 2021 fue reconocida por todos sus maravillosos premios y logros como atletas y estudiantes. Esta generación especial ha tenido que superar muchos obstáculos esta temporada pero han perseverado un récord de 11-4 en el año. Los Grems actualmente tienen una racha ganadora de 9 juegos y no se han rendido a un solo gol en ese tramo de victorias.
Conferencias de Padres y Maestros
Con el fin de brindar la experiencia de una conferencia más segura y efectiva para discutir el progreso de su hijo, hemos realizado algunos ajustes a la noche de Conferencia de Padres y Maestros

Cancelaremos las conferencias y la salida temprano previamente programada para el miércoles, 28 de octubre y cambiamos todas las conferencias al jueves 29 de octubre.

La escuela estará abierta de 8:00 am a 8:00 pm el jueves 29 de octubre para las conferencias pre-programadas.

Cada maestro tendrá un enlace personal que usará para registrarse en una conferencia de 15 minutos.

Si tiene un estudiante de cuarto o quinto grado, le pedimos que se registre para una conferencia con la maestra base (homeroom teacher) de su hijo.

Un enorme AGRADECIMIENTO a todos los estudiantes que han apoyado el Café del Estudiante Gremlin. Estamos abiertos todos los días después de la escuela para los grados 6 al 12. Los estudiantes de primaria tendrán la oportunidad de visitar el café de acuerdo a las instrucciones de sus maestros.
El viernes pasado “Cake Lady” donó gentilmente Galletas de Azúcar y con Chispas de Chocolate. ¡Fueron un gran éxito!
