Happy Friday Everyone!
It’s hard to imagine, but today marks the end of the 1st quarter. We are so blessed to have come this far in the school year and still be enjoying in-person education. Please continue to be diligent about all of the health and safety procedures to keep your children well and, in turn, those same measures contribute to keeping others healthy and safe also!
Take a look below for information from Mrs. Martin about 1st quarter grade reporting and the plan for Parent-Teacher conferences this year. There are some things that will be new.
Next week is another busy week at SHS. On Monday and Tuesday, our Lady Gremlin Golfers will be in Smithville, MO to compete in the MSHSAA Class 1 State Golf Tournament. Please say a little prayer for them that they may be calm and compete to the best of their ability.
Monday will be a spirit dress day and Wednesday will be our first paid dress down day of the year. The proceeds from this dress down day will go to the Rare Bear Quilting Charity. This is a favorite cause of a long time (now retired) SH teacher Miss Sharon Dey. It is always nice to be able to support Miss Dey!
Also on Wednesday (10/21) Sacred Heart School will be hosting a blood drive from 12:00 – 5:15 pm in the Hoying Gym. Safety protocols will be released soon in regard to where to enter the building, etc. Please contact Barb Hagebusch: bhagebusch@gogremlins.com to schedule an appointment. All donors will have their name placed in a raffle for a cool Chiefs item (TBD)!
The blood supply is at a critical level, so any help is much appreciated!

Message From the Pastors
The eye of the storm is always calm.
Have you noticed that during the last few SH Beats, the pastors have been focusing a lot on our prayer lives inviting us to deeper devotional prayer (rosary, spiritual journaling, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament) and liturgical prayer (Reconciliation and Holy Mass, especially Mass on Sundays.) That’s because we know it is a stormy time in our lives right now: pandemic, election, civil unrest, on top of the daily stressors that are always with us. In the midst of the storm, Jesus is at the center and is inviting us to come to the center of the storm where he is. His hand is outstretched asking us to grab a hold… we just have to hold out our hand and he will guide us. He will be right by our side guiding us through all of it.
Here’s the thing: He is calling us to stop just for a moment…and really spend quality time with him in prayer. Three go to prayers: 1) Pray the Our Father slowly; it is the perfect prayer. 2) Repeat this phrase several times slowly: “Jesus I trust in you.” 3) Psalm 139. Find a way to pray. It will help get you to your center. Jesus is at the center with hand outstretched ready to get you through the next few steps. He’s only asking one step at a time; don’t ask more of yourself than He is asking of you. Alone we can easily despair. Together, we got this. With Jesus we will be victorious!
First Quarter Grades – We made it NINE Weeks!
Congratulations, we have made it through the first 9 weeks of school! Even though we are 9 weeks in, we are still coming across new obstacles and learning new things when it comes to teaching our students amidst a pandemic. We have learned to be extremely flexible, and will continue to do so in order to help our students be successful.
Although today marks the end of the 1st quarter grading period, those students who have missing work due to extended absences will not receive their final grades for 1st quarter. Teachers will work with students to ensure they are caught up on all missing work, before issuing their grade card.
Grade cards will be e-mailed home through FACTS by Friday, October 23.
Parent-Teacher Conferences
In order to provide the safest and most effective conference experience to discuss your child’s progress, we have made some adjustments to the Parent-Teacher Conference night.

We will be canceling conferences and the early dismissal previously scheduled for Wednesday, October 28, and moving all conferences to Thursday, October 29.

There will be NO SCHOOL on Thursday, October 29!

The school will be open from 8 am to 8 pm on Thursday, October 29 for pre-scheduled
conferences. -
Each teacher will have a personal link that you will use to sign up for a 15-minute conference.

If you have a fourth or fifth-grade student, we request that you sign up for a conference with your child’s homeroom teacher.

If you would like to meet with one of the other teachers, you may sign up for a time, but please be mindful that you may lose that time if it is needed for a homeroom student. If your student is in junior high or high school and has multiple teachers, you may select whichever teachers you would like to meet with and they will be available on a first-come, first served basis.

In order to provide a safe meeting for our parents and teachers the following procedures will be in place:

Conferences will be limited to two parents (no students may attend).

There will be a minimum of 6 feet between the teachers and parents.

Masks will be required to be worn at all times.

In order to allow time to sanitize, it is very important that you arrive for your assigned time and complete your conference within 15 minutes.

Don’t forget to stop by the school office Monday through Friday to shop from our great selection of physical gift cards. We have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). If you can’t make it to the office to purchase physical cards, look for us after Masses at St. Patrick’s on Oct. 17th and 18th.

Dress Code Reminders for Cold Weather Seasons Boys and Girls

The cold weather season is defined as November 1st until March 1st.

Pants are to be worn. Shorts are not permitted. Girls are allowed to wear uniform skirts and rompers.

Closed toed/Closed Heeled shoes are required.

Gremlin Student Store and Cold Weather Dress Season
Your Gremlin Student Store is here to help you out! Come check out all of the encore performances of uniform pants, shirts, and Gremlin Gear. We have various sizes of pants for students in all grades. All items are $5 each or you can buy four and get one free. That means for only $20 you can have a pair of pants for every day of the week!
The Gremlin Student Store is open after school and by appointment. Contact the Office, Mrs. Howell or Mrs. Starke to schedule your appointment today!

¡Feliz Viernes a todos!
Es difícil imaginar pero hoy se marca el final del primer trimestre. Estamos muy bendecidos de haber llegado tan lejos en el año escolar y seguir disfrutando de la educación en persona. ¡Favor de continuar siendo diligente con todos los procedimientos de salud y seguridad para mantener sanos a sus hijos y a su vez, esas medidas también contribuyan a mantener a otros sanos y seguros!
Revise la información a continuación de la Sra. Martin sobre los informes de calificaciones del 1er trimestre y el plan de este año para las conferencias de Padres y Maestros. Hay algunas cosas que serán nuevas.
La próxima semana será otra semana ocupada en SHS. El lunes y martes las Jóvenes Golfistas Gremlin estarán en Smithville, MO para competir en el Torneo Estatal de Golf MSHSAA Clase 1. Favor de rezar una pequeña oración por ellas para que estén tranquilas y compitan lo mejor que puedan.
El lunes será día de Spirit Dress y el miércoles será nuestro primer día del año de Paid Dress Down. El dinero recaudado de este día de vestimenta informal se destinará a la organización benéfica Rare Bear Quilting Charity. Esta es una de las causas favoritas desde hace mucho tiempo de la maestra de SH (ahora retirada) Srita. Sharon Dey. ¡Siempre es bueno poder apoyar a la Srita. Dey!
También el miércoles (21/10) la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón organizará una campaña de donación de sangre de 12:00 a 5:15 pm en el Gimnasio Hoying. Mensaje de los Pastores
El ojo de la tormenta siempre está tranquilo.
¿Se ha dado cuenta que durante las últimas semanas en el Beat de SH, los pastores se han centrado mucho en nuestras vidas de oración invitándonos a una oración devocional más profunda (rosario, diario espiritual, Adoración del Santísimo Sacramento) y oración litúrgica (Reconciliación y Santa Misa, especialmente la misa del domingo.) Esto es porque sabemos que este es un momento tormentoso en nuestras vidas: pandemia, elecciones, disturbios civiles además de los factores estresantes diarios que siempre nos acompañan. Jesús está en el centro, en medio de la tormenta invitándonos a llegar al centro en dónde él está. Su mano está extendida pidiéndonos que nos agarremos… sólo tenemos que extender la mano y él nos guiará. Estará justo a nuestro lado guiándonos a través de todo.
Aquí está la cuestión: Nos está llamando a detenernos por un momento… y realmente pasar tiempo de calidad con él en oración. Tres oraciones para rezar 1) Rezar el Padre Nuestro lentamente; es la oración perfecta. 2) Repite esta frase varias veces lentamente: “Jesús en tí confío.” 3) Salmo 139. Encuentra una manera de orar. Esto le ayudará a llegar a su centro. Jesús está en el centro con la mano extendida listo para ayudarlo a seguir los siguientes pasos. Solo está pidiendo un paso a la vez; no se pida más de lo que Él le pide. Podemos desaparecer fácilmente solos. Juntos, lo logramos. ¡Con Jesús saldremos victoriosos!
Calificaciones del Primer Trimestre – ¡Lo logramos NUEVE Semanas!
¡Felicitaciones, hemos superado las primeras 9 semanas de clases! A pesar de que estamos en la semana 9, todavía nos encontramos con nuevos obstáculos y aprendiendo cosas nuevas cuando se trata de enseñar a nuestros estudiantes en medio de una pandemia. Hemos aprendido a ser extremadamente flexibles y continuaremos haciéndolo para ayudar a nuestros estudiantes a tener éxito.
Aunque hoy marca el final del período de calificaciones del 1er trimestre, aquellos estudiantes que tengan trabajos faltantes debido a ausencias prolongadas no recibirán sus calificaciones finales del 1er trimestre. Los maestros trabajarán con los estudiantes para asegurarse de que estén al día con todos los trabajos pendientes antes de emitir su boleta de calificaciones.
Las boletas de calificaciones se enviarán a casa por correo electrónico a través de FACTS el viernes 23 de octubre.
Conferencia de Padres y Maestros
Con el fin de brindar la experiencia de conferencia más segura y efectiva para discutir el progreso de su hijo, hemos realizado algunos ajustes a la noche de Conferencia de Padres y Maestros

Cancelaremos las conferencias y la salida temprano previamente programada para el miércoles, 28 de octubre y cambiamos todas las conferencias al jueves 29 de octubre.

La escuela estará abierta de 8:00 am a 8:00 pm el jueves 29 de octubre para las conferencias pre-programadas.

Cada maestro tendrá un enlace personal que usará para registrarse en una conferencia de 15 minutos.

Si tiene un estudiante de cuarto o quinto grado, le pedimos que se registre para una conferencia con la maestra base (homeroom teacher) de su hijo.

Si desea reunirse con uno de los otros maestros, puede registrarse para una cita pero tenga en cuenta que puede perderla si ese tiempo es necesario para un estudiante de su salón. Si su estudiante está en junior high o high school y tiene múltiples maestros, puede seleccionar los maestros con los que le gustaría reunirse y estarán disponibles por orden de llegada.

La Feria Virtual del Libro está en Marcha
La NEW VIRTUAL FAIR (FERIA VIRTUAL NUEVA) es UNA de las Características Más Interesante de la Feria del Libro Scholastic.
