Happy Friday Everyone,
Overall it has been a delightful start to our new school year, especially in such challenging times. The icing on the cake came today with our visit from Bishop McKnight and Dr. Vader. SHS was blessed to have them here with us today, both literally and figuratively!
With that being said, today will be our last all-school mass for the time being. We will be implementing a new mass schedule for school masses beginning on Tuesday. Please check the blurb below for all the details.
There is one favor I would like for you to do for us in the coming days if you would. We are experiencing some difficulties with our student information system and some parents do not seem to be receiving these SH Beat communications. As you are aware, we send Beat communications religiously on Tuesdays (celebration messages) and Fridays (general news).
Please ask your friends and other SHS parents that you know if they are receiving the SH Beat communications. If the answer is no, please encourage them to contact Mrs. City in the main office and she will work to fix their connection within the system. Thanks!
We hope that you have a fantastic and safe Labor Day weekend. We encourage all faculty, staff, parents, and students to celebrate in a responsible manner this weekend to keep our school environment as healthy as possible. If you are at a family, or other large gathering, please try to celebrate out of doors. If you are in public please wear a mask and do your best to social distance at all times.

All in attendance will wear a mask throughout the service.
With an 8:00 start time, all Masses will be in the 1st-hour time slot now. When Masses began at 8:30 the time was split between 1st and 2nd hour. To accommodate this change the 1st hour has been lengthened and 2nd hour shortened by a few minutes. Hopefully, this will allow us to maintain a productive and equitable number of instructional minutes during each class period. This is the updated Bell Schedule (Available Here).
Let’s not forget about weekend Masses. The Bishop’s dispensation from Sunday Mass due to Covid 19 will end before you know it and we look forward to seeing our families at Mass again!

Message from the Pastors
As Catholics, we like to celebrate our Role Models, our Saints. This coming Tuesday,
September 9, we celebrate St Peter Claver. He is the patron saint for those who fight to end slavery, end racism, and are victims of either. Keep in mind, “Country Data, United States”
The Global Slavery Index reports there were 403,000 slaves in the US in November 2018, the latest statistics available. It doesn’t take long with any news source regardless of journalism bias to realize there are race relations issues facing members of our country.
So, what was Peter Claver’s response in his own time? Certainly, he spoke to those in power to make the necessary systemic changes necessary to see everyone as a created loved valued child of God and equal to one another. Secondly, he waited for the slave ships to arrive in port and then immediately boarded the ships to start ministering to the bodily, mental, and spiritual needs of the captives. He calls us to take action to learn more about our modern-day slavery issues and to eradicate racism wherever and whenever we see it.

SH APC Serves Our Students!
Spirit Ads and Discount Cards
It’s that time of year again … APC Discount Cards and Spirit Ads in the Sports Program!!
Manila packets are going home Tuesday, September 8th with Discount Cards which fund half of APC’s budget each year. For our K-5 families, you will get one packet sent home with your oldest elementary student. For our 6-12 families, you should have one packet sent home for each student. New this year we are running an incentive to see which class sells the most cards. We will select one class from the elementary grades (K-5) and one from junior high & high school (6-12) based on the most cards sold per capita. The winning classes will get a Kona Ice party!!!
Now is also time to buy a Spirit Ad in the Sports Program to cheer on your favorite Gremlin. This is a great way to celebrate our school athletes from our elementary, junior high, and high school sports teams. Show your student love and help us pay for the printing of the Sports Program. SHS Golf Tournament
This is an especially important event for us this year as we are working to make up for lost income from the fair. Please take a look at the attached flyer. If you can put a team in the event (and recruit others to do the same) it would be very much appreciated. If our first two golf tournaments at the Sedalia Country Club (2018 & 2019) are any indication you will have a wonderful time playing on a beautiful golf course!
Another way to support the event is to be a tournament or a hole-sponsor. Please contact Charles Tippie, Angela McMullin or myself for information on how to do that. The contact info is on the attached flyer.
Unfortunately, due to the COVID situation, we have suspended the Family Fun portion of the event. We look forward to bringing it back in 2021!

SCRIPing Additional Savings Over Labor Day
Labor Day is a great time to use Scrip while taking advantage on HUGE weekend sales. Making it even better is knowing you will save on tuition at the same time, AND be entered to win a $1500 gift card package! That is a three-in-one deal!! Every purchase you make in the new mobile app, RaiseRight, from now thru September 12th is an entry into the drawing. There is no limit on the number of entries!
Don’t forget to stop by the school office Monday through Friday to shop from our great selection of physical gift cards. We have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few).
If you can’t make it to the office to purchase physical cards, look for us after Masses at St. Patrick’s on Sept. 5th & 6th, St. John’s on Sept. 12th, and Sacred Heart on Sept. 20th. Special Memorial Service Coming Up
Join local pastors, community leaders, and fellow pro-lifers for the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children and ensure that our unborn brothers and sisters will not be forgotten. Solemn prayer services like ours will be held simultaneously at gravesites around the country where abortion victims have been buried.
Our local prayer service will start at Sacred Heart Chapel, followed by a procession to Calvary Cemetery for placing flowers on the Innocents Memorial at Calvary Cemetery.
Speakers include local pastors and community leaders.
Solemn vigils like these will be held at these sites to commemorate the more than 60 million children who have lost their lives to legal abortion since 1973, and to remind our society of the humanity of the unborn child.

En general, ha sido un comienzo maravilloso para nuestro nuevo año escolar, especialmente en estos tiempos tan desafiantes. La cereza del pastel llegó hoy con la visita del Obispo McKnight y Dr. Vader. ¡SHS tuvo la bendición de tenerlos hoy aquí con nosotros, tanto literal como figurativamente!
Dicho esto, el día de hoy será nuestra última misa con toda la escuela por el momento. A partir del martes, implementaremos un nuevo horario de misa para las misas escolares. Consulte el anuncio a continuación para obtener todos los detalles.
Me gustaría que nos hiciera un favor en los próximos días. Estamos experimentando algunas dificultades con el sistema de información estudiantil y al parecer algunos padres no están recibiendo los comunicados del SH Beat. Cómo es de su conocimiento, enviamos los comunicados del Beat religiosamente los martes (mensajes de celebración) y los viernes (noticias generales).
Favor de preguntar a sus amigos y otros padres de SHS que conozca si están recibiendo los comunicados de SH Beat. Si la respuesta es no, favor de animarlos a que se comuniquen con la Sra. City en la oficina principal y ella trabajará para arreglar su conexión dentro del sistema. ¡Gracias!
Esperamos que tenga un fantástico y seguro fin de semana del Día del Trabajo. Alentamos a todos los profesores, personal, padres y estudiantes a celebrar este fin de semana de manera responsable para mantener nuestro ambiente escolar lo más saludable posible. Para adaptarse a este cambio la 1ra hora se ha alargado y la 2da hora se ha acortado unos minutos. Con optimismo, esto nos permitirá mantener un número productivo y equitativo de minutos de instrucción durante cada período de clase. Mensaje del Pastor
Como católicos, nos gusta celebrar nuestros Modelos a Seguir, Nuestros Santos. El próximo martes 9 de septiembre, celebramos a San Peter Claver. El es el santo patrono de aquellos que luchan para acabar con la esclavitud, acabar con el racismo y son víctimas de ambos. Recuerde, “Datos del País, Estados Unidos”
De acuerdo a las últimas estadísticas disponibles, el Indice de Esclavitud Global reporta que en noviembre del 2018, hubo 403,000 esclavos en los Estados Unidos. Independientemente del sesgo periodístico, no toma mucho tiempo con cualquier fuente de noticias darse cuenta que hay problemas de relaciones raciales que enfrentan los miembros de nuestro país.
Entonces, ¿cuál fue la reacción de Peter Claver en su momento? Indudablemente, habló con aquellos en el poder para hacer los cambios sistemáticos necesarios para ver a todos como hijos de Dios creados, amados y valorados e iguales entre sí. En segundo lugar, esperó a que los barcos de los esclavos llegaran al puerto e inmediatamente los abordó para comenzar a atender las necesidades corporales, mentales y espirituales de los cautivos. El nos llama a tomar acciones para aprender más sobre nuestros problemas de esclavitud y erradicar el racismo donde quiera y siempre que lo veamos.

Anuncios para Alentar a los Jugadores y Tarjetas de Descuento
Es esa época del año nuevamente… ¡¡Las tarjetas de descuento APC y los anuncios para alentar a los Jugadores en el Programa de Deportes!!
El martes 8 de septiembre se enviarán a casas los sobres manila con las Tarjetas de Descuento que cada año financian la mitad del presupuesto de APC. Nuestras familias K-5 recibirán un paquete enviado a casa con su estudiante mayor de primaria. A nuestras familias de 6-12, se les enviará un paquete a casa por estudiante. Como novedad, este año tendremos un incentivo para ver qué grupo vende más tarjetas. Seleccionaremos un grupo de primaria grados (K-5) y uno de junior high y high school (6-12) según la mayor cantidad de tarjetas vendidas per cápita. ¡Los grupos ganadores tendrán una fiesta con Kona Ice!
Ahora es también el momento de comprar un Anuncio para Alentar a los Jugadores en el Programa Deportivo para celebrar a su Gremlin favorito. Esta es una excelente manera de celebrar a los atletas de nuestra escuela de nuestros equipos deportivos de primaria, secundaria y preparatoria. Muestre amor a su estudiante y ayúdenos a pagar la impresión del Programa Deportivo. Busque el formulario adjunto al final de este correo electrónico. Torneo de Golf SHS
Este es un evento especialmente importante para nosotros este año ya que, estamos trabajando para compensar la pérdida de ingresos de la feria. Favor de revisar el folleto adjunto. Si puede ingresar un equipo al evento (y reclutar a otros para que hagan lo mismo) será muy apreciado. ¡Los primeros dos torneos de golf en Sedalia Country Club (2018 y 2019) son un indicio de que la pasará en grande jugando en un hermoso campo de golf!
Otra forma de apoyar el evento es ser patrocinador de hoyo o torneo. Favor de contactar a Charles Tippie, Angela McMullin o conmigo para obtener más información sobre cómo hacerlo. La información de contacto está en el folleto adjunto.
Desafortunadamente, debido a la situación de Covid hemos suspendido la parte de Diversión Familiar del evento. ¡Esperamos tenerla de regreso en el 2021!

Se acerca el Servicio Conmemorativo Especial
Únase a los pastores, líderes comunitarios y miembros pro-vida para el Día Nacional en Recuerdo de los Niños Abortados y asegurar que nuestros hermanos y hermanas no nacidos no sean olvidados. Los servicios de oración solemne como el nuestro se llevarán a cabo simultáneamente en las tumbas de todo el país donde han sido enterradas las víctimas de abortos.
Nuestro servicio de oración local comenzará en la Capilla del Sagrado Corazón seguido de una procesión al Cementerio el Calvario para colocar flores en el Monumento a los Inocentes en el Cementerio el Calvario. Los oradores incluyen pastores locales y líderes comunitarios.
Se llevarán a cabo vigilias solemnes en estos sitios para conmemorar a los más de 60 millones de niños que desde 1973 han perdido la vida a causa del aborto legal y para recordar a nuestra sociedad la humanidad de los niños no nacidos.
