Good Afternoon Parents & Happy Friday!
We are one week closer to getting back in session and we are very excited about once again beginning the process of assisting you to effectively educate your children. Mrs. Martin and Mr. Jones continue to work daily to review research and implement more and more measures to ensure student, faculty, and staff safety.
You will be receiving significant information in this Beat about reopening plans. In addition, we will begin the Tuesday versions of the SH Beat next week with Tuesday’s edition being strictly dedicated to what the first week of school is going to look like.
With all of this in mind, it gives me some degree of comfort to know that Sacred Heart has operated daycare and summer camp continuously since in-person education was suspended last March. It is encouraging that, since the March shut down, daycare and summer camp has remained healthy from nearly all illnesses and free of the COVID virus! We all know that some level of cold, flu, and illness is inevitable in a school setting but the daycare experience provides us confidence that procedures are in place to keep the children healthy and the school open!
We are continuing to welcome new staff members as the start of the school year approaches. In addition to last week’s announcements regarding volleyball, we are excited to announce the following additions to faculty and staff in today’s BEAT.

Mrs. Amanda Blackburn has been hired as the Athletic Director. Mrs. Blackburn brings a wealth of experience from the private business sector and as the executive director of the Paul Klover Soccer Assn.

Mrs. Deyanira Azua Garcia has accepted the position of International Student Liaison. She will be working most directly with our international students along with our Spanish speaking families. She, too, brings a very impressive resume to this position.

Ms. Gloria Close has cut back to part-time for the fall term to assume some necessary family responsibilities. Consequently, we are excited to welcome Mrs. Angela Hostetler back to our teaching staff. Mrs. Hostetler will be job sharing with Miss Close and teaching 8th-grade religion and 10th-grade Personal Finance.

Help Wanted – Bus Driver for the Warrensburg Route
SHS is in dire need of a bus driver to run the Warrensburg route. There are two segments to the route:

6:15 until approximately 8:00 each morning
-
3:00 until approximately 4:30 each afternoon
There are only two drop off / pick up stops for each segment of the route with 10 to 15 students riding. This route pays $13 per hour. A CDL with school bus endorsement is required but the school will assist you in getting this license if you do not already have it.

Reopening Purchases
Under the funding provided through the CARES Act, the following items have been purchased in preparation for the start of the 20-21 school year:
- 20 touchless hand sanitizer dispensers
- 4 x 55 gal drums of hand gel antiseptic
- 4 x GRACO Cordless Disinfectant Sprayer
- 10 x Touchless Thermometers (supplied to all coaches)
- Acrylic Dividers for all Kindergarten Tables
- 40 x Acrylic Desktop Tri-Fold Shields

As we near the start of school, we are reviewing our current policies and procedures that will allow us to safely reopen our doors to our staff and students. We thank you for your patience and understanding as we work in making these difficult decisions. The action being taken in many of our previous procedures are not ideal, but they are a slight inconvenience that we will make in order to be able to see our students and staff on a daily basis. Please note the following updates that have been made to the reopening plan.

Mask Policy
All K-12 students and all staff members are required to have a mask when social distancing is not possible.
Due to the short time frame and availability of masks, Sacred Heart has chosen not to adopt a strict uniform policy on masks styles for the upcoming school year. Masks can be of either style (ear loop or neck gaiter) as long as it covers the mouth and nose and meets normal dress down day requirements. We request that masks be simplistic in nature (have a simple logo or repeating pattern) in order to prevent unnecessary distractions.
All students should keep a clean, spare mask (in a baggie) in their backpack.
Masks’ designs should not be distracting to the educational environment. Please refrain from wearing masks that mimic faces, have profanity, sexually suggestive themes, rude or disrespectful themes, or the promotion of the use of alcohol, drugs, or tobacco.
Cloth masks should be cleaned thoroughly daily before being worn again. Cloth masks may be cleaned by including in regular laundry on the warmest appropriate water setting for that cloth. Masks may also be washed by hand by soaking in a color-safe bleach solution (4 teaspoons per quart) for 5 minutes.

Face shields do not provide the same level of protection as masks and are not allowed as a substitute. If your student would like to wear a face shield and a mask they are allowed to do so.
If a defiant behavior occurs, resulting in a student’s refusal to wear a mask, disciplinary action will be taken.
Masks will be provided for students who do not have them, resulting in a fee to cover the cost of the mask.

Let that beauty shine as they head back to school and engage with others. Help others to see the good in them and help them to see the good in others. Father steer them to the relationships you want them to be in and protect them from the ones that could hurt them. Help us as parents, teachers and clergy guide them and teach them what it means to be a friend. If you didn’t get a chance to take advantage of the tax-free weekend, or the BONUS sale to do your back to school shopping, it’s still a GREAT time to use Scrip to finish loading up on the supplies needed for school. ¡Buenas Tardes Padres y Feliz Viernes!
Estamos una semana más cerca de volver a estar en sesión y estamos emocionados por comenzar una vez más el proceso de ayudarlo a educar eficientemente a sus hijos. La Sra. Martin y el Sr. Jones continúan trabajando diariamente para revisar las investigaciones e implementar más y más medidas para garantizar la seguridad de los estudiantes, los docentes y el personal.
En este Beat recibirá información importante sobre los planes de reapertura. En adición a esto, la próxima semana comenzaremos con las versiones del SH Beat de los martes. El Beat del martes estará estrictamente dedicado a cómo será la primera semana de clases.
Con todo esto en mente, me da cierto nivel de confort el saber que el Sagrado Corazón ha operado la guardería y el campamento de verano de forma continua desde que la educación en persona fue suspendida en marzo pasado. ¡Estamos muy alentados por esto, puesto que desde el cierre de marzo, la guardería y el campamento de verano han permanecido saludables de casi toda enfermedad y de Covid. ¡Todos sabemos que algunos resfríos, influenza y enfermedad son inevitables en el entorno escolar, sin embargo la experiencia de la guardería nos da confianza de que existen procedimientos para mantener a los niños saludables y la escuela abierta!
A medida que se aproxima el inicio del año escolar, continuamos dando la bienvenida a nuevos miembros del personal. En adición al anuncio de la semana pasada en relación a voleibol, estamos emocionados por anunciar en el BEAT de hoy las siguientes contrataciones.

La Sra. Deyanira Azua García ha aceptado la posición de Enlace de Estudiantes Internacionales. Ella trabajará principalmente con nuestros estudiantes internacionales y con nuestras familias hispanoparlantes. Ella también tiene un curriculum muy impresionante para esta posición.

Se Necesita Personal – Conductor de Autobús para la Ruta de Warrensburg
SHS necesita urgentemente un conductor de autobús para la ruta de Warrensburg. Hay dos segmentos en la ruta:
-
De 6:15 hasta aproximadamente las 8:00 cada mañana
-
De 3:00 hasta aproximadamente las 4:30 cada tarde
Solo hay dos paradas para recoger/dejar estudiantes en cada segmento de la ruta con de 10 a 15 estudiantes en el autobús. Esta ruta paga $13 por hora. Se requiere una licencia de conducir comercial (CDL) con endoso para autobús escolar, si aún no tiene esta licencia, la escuela le asistirá para obtenerla.

Compras para la Reapertura
Con fondos proporcionados a través de la Ley CARES, se han comprado los siguientes artículos para la preparativos del inicio del ciclo escolar 20-21:
- 20 dispensadores de gel antibacterial que se activan sin contacto
- 4 contenedores de 55 galones de gel antiséptico para manos
- 4 pulverizadores desinfectantes inalámbricos GRACO
- 10 Termómetros que se activan sin contacto (proporcionados a todos los entrenadores)
- Divisores de Acrílico para todas las mesas de Kinder
- 40 Escudos de Tres Piezas de Acrílico para Escritorio
Esta lista aún está muy lejos de terminarse y más artículos serán agregados en el próximo Beat del Sagrado Corazón.

Política para Cubreboca
Todos los estudiantes de K-12 y todos los miembros del personal deberán usar cubreboca cuando el distanciamiento social no sea posible.
Debido al corto periodo de tiempo y a la disponibilidad de los cubrebocas, el Sagrado Corazón ha elegido no adoptar una política de uniforme estricta en los estilos de los cubrebocas para el siguiente ciclo escolar. Los cubrebocas pueden ser de cualquier estilo (sujetados a la oreja o al cuello mejor conocidos como “neck gaiter”) siempre y cuando cubran la boca y la nariz y cumplan con los requisitos que aplican en los días sin uniforme. Pedimos que los cubrebocas sean de naturaleza simple (que tengan un logo sencillo o un patrón repetido) con el fin de prevenir las distracciones innecesarias.
Todos los estudiantes deberán tener un cubreboca adicional limpio, (en una bolsa) en su mochila.
Los diseños de los cubrebocas no deberán ser distractores en el entorno escolar. Por favor absténgase de usar cubrebocas con caras graciosas, que tengan groserías, sugieran temas sexuales, contengan temática que resulte irrespetuosa o grosera o promuevan el uso de alcohol, drogas o tabaco.
Los cubrebocas de tela deberán lavarse diariamente antes de volver a utilizarlos. Los cubrebocas de tela pueden lavarse al incluirse en las cargas de lavado habituales con la temperatura del agua más apropiada para la tela. Los cubrebocas pueden también lavarse a mano al remojarlos en una solución con blanqueador para telas de color (4 cucharadas por cuarto de agua) por 5 minutos.

Las caretas faciales no proporcionan el mismo nivel de protección que los cubrebocas y no se permitirán como sustituto. Si un estudiante desea usar careta facial y cubreboca puede hacerlo.
Si ocurre una conducta desafiante, que resulte en que el estudiante se rehuse a usar cubreboca, se tomarán acciones disciplinarias.
Se proporcionarán cubrebocas a los estudiantes que no tengan uno, lo que resultará en una cuota para cubrir el costo del cubreboca.
La INFORMACIÓN sobre el Open House y el Primer Día de Clases será dada a conocer el martes.
