No On-Campus Classes: Wednesday, March 18 – Thursday, April 30

Updated April 7, 2020

We received word from the Bishop last week that all diocesan schools and churches will be closed at least through April 30th.  That means the earliest possible return to school date for us is now Friday, May 1.  We will keep you updated as we learn more.

Until we can get back in the building let’s all work together to make the best of the situation and give the kids the strongest educational program possible.  Please let us know if you need help and we will do what we can to assist.

In what is no surprise to any of us, it looks like our Virtual Learning is going to be extended for a few weeks.  As of this writing, the earliest projected return date for Pettis County students is Monday, April 20th.  School leaders will meet with Pettis County Health Center officials again on Monday, April 13th to reassess the situation.  Let’s keep our fingers crossed!

March 16, 2020 – 7:00 PM

Dear Parents:

We received a letter late this afternoon from the Diocesan School Office notifying us that all diocesan elementary and high schools, including all grades pre-K through 12 would be closed beginning Wednesday, March 18.

Pending continuing updates and guidance from local and state government and health officials, we hope to resume school on Monday, April 6. Schools will be closed March 18-April 3. If many of our area public schools make the decision to extend this suspension, there is a good possibility that we will follow suit.

It is our aim to ensure the healthy formation – body, mind, and soul – of all students entrusted to our care. In addition, at times of national and international crisis, it is our call to serve our Country by assisting authorities to help curb the spread of COVID-19. These are the primary reasons we are making this decision at this time.

To meet the educational needs of our students, our teachers will be providing either e-learning or packet-based instruction depending on the grade level of your child. More information will be shared with them at school tomorrow (and via future email communications).  Please be watching for regular information from the school and your child’s teachers.  We are making every effort to make this transition as seamless as possible for our faculty and for our families. More news will be shared as we continue through these challenging and uncertain times.

All extracurricular activities are postponed/canceled at this time with the exception of the spring musical. The cast and crew of “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown ” will do one live performance for a limited audience (primarily family) at 7 p.m. Friday night at the Liberty Center.  This performance will be live-streamed for the public.  More information concerning the resumption of spring sports will be forthcoming as we monitor the development of the current health crisis.

In order to help facilitate the quickest, safest resumption of activities possible, families and staff are discouraged from traveling or hosting in-person gatherings of more than 15 people during this time.

You may find suggestions on how to talk to children about the pandemic, prayers, links to Masses on the internet, and other resources at diojeffcity.org/public-health. The impact of COVID-19 continues to grow daily. Please continue to offer prayers of intercession for all those affected by this virus. Pray also that this pandemic might come to a speedy end.

Respectfully,

Dr. Register
