Announcements:

  • Join us this Sunday for Mass to kickoff our Catholic Schools Week celebration!
    • 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel at Sacred Heart – Mr. Hartman and the High School Choir will perform the music ministry.
    • 11:30 a.m. in the Chapel @ St. Patrick – Mrs. Messina and Mrs. Talamantes are working with school families to organize mass ministries at the 11:30 a.m.mass.  If you would like to get involved please let one of them know.
  • Mrs. Bahner is excited to announce that our 2020 Spring Musical will be “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” based on the popular comic strip Peanuts by Charles Schultz.  If you would like more information about this production or would like to be part of the cast or crew, please come to an informational meeting on TODAY during lunch in the music room.  Grab your food, head-on into the music room, and find out how YOU can be one of the Peanuts Gang!
  • New Students Today: Please give a big welcome to some new members of our school community this morning.  Faith Martin (10), Charlitt Allen (K) and Vincent Allen (Pk3), along with their parents Samantha and Christopher Allen.  Welcome you guys, we are glad that you are here!
  • All boys and girls ages 9 to 14 are invited to participate in the Knights of Columbus Free Throw Championship this coming Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the McGremlin gym.  Trophies are awarded in all 12 divisions (9-year-old boys through 14-year-old boys and 9-year-old girls through 14-year-old girls). This contest is free of charge and open to all area youth.
  • There will be a Musical meeting with Mrs. Bahner during lunch today in the commons
  • There will be a short NJHS meeting after school on Tuesday, January 21st, in Mrs. Kilby’s room
  • Prom Committee will meet during lunch in the ITV lab on Wednesday, January 22nd.
  • There will be a Senior class meeting during lunch in the commons on Wednesday, January 22nd.
  • There will be a high school girls softball meeting Wednesday, January 22nd, in the cafeteria, at 6:00 pm.
  • Congratulations to 2 of our seniors who traveled to Camdenton on Saturday to take part in the Camdenton Math Relays.
    • Cody Damlo took 4th in Open ACT, 3rd in Calculus and Adv. Math
    • Joseph Henke took 2nd in 12th Algebra, 3rd in 12th Geometry, 2nd in  12th Word Problems, 1st Calculus and Adv. Math, and finished as the 2nd Top Senior
    • Joseph and Cody teamed up to take 1st 12 grade Team competition.  These are 4 person teams.

Robotics: Despite many technical difficulties, the Sacred Heart Robotics Team worked hard and finished in 2nd place in a field of 15 teams at the St. Teresa’s Academy Robotics Meet in Kansas City this past Saturday.  Drew Smith, Zaine Dover, Jordan Hill and Riley Bradley persevered winning 4 of the 5 matches. 

SHS is currently ranked #3 in the SW Conference. This might still change but we are keeping Feb. 15 open just in case we remain ranked high enough to move on to the next level of competition. 

Way to go Grems!!!!!

 

Scholar Bowl:  The academic bowl team competed last Thursday in LaMonte.  The Grems beat Windsor but lost matches to Cole Camp and Stover.  

 

Sports Action: 

HS Girls Basketball:   Varsity Girls (7-7, 2-2) next action is tonight as the Grems go on the road to take on the Clinton Cardinals.  Game time is 6pm.

 

HS Boys Basketball:  Varsity Boys (7-7, 2-2) and JV (1-2) play at home tonight vs the Clinton Cardinals.  The JV tips off at 6pm followed by the varsity action.

 

HS Girls Swim:  The Sacred Heart Swimmers did well at the Tiger Invitational Saturday afternoon at Sedalia Middle School Pool.  

  • In the 50 freestyle, Arly Ponce Placed 4th, and Kate Carney placed 5th out of 29 swimmers.  
  • In the 100 free, Kate Carney placed 6th, Arly Ponce 7th, and Allie Ferguson 10th out of 30 swimmers.  Allie set a personal record in this event, cutting 5 seconds off her previous best time.
  • In the 200 Freestyle Relay, the Gremlin team of Kate Carney, Maia Smith, Allie Ferguson, and Arly Ponce took 5th out of 13 teams, with 2:03:51, earning a time under state consideration time of 2:05.  

Sacred Heart Swim’s next meet is today in Lee’s Summit. 

 

JH Girls Basketball:  The Junior High Girls “A” (2-2, 2-1) lost to Tipton last Thursday.  Their next action is tonight vs Northwest @ Hughesville. Game time for “A” girls action is 6:45pm.

 

JH Boys Basketball: The Junior High Boys “A” (5-0, 4-0) & “B” Teams (4-1, 3-1) were both victorious Thursday in Tipton.  Boys “A” 44-18 & “B” 8-2. Their next action is tonight vs Northwest @ Hughesville. Game time for “A” boys action is 5:00pm.
