I know that we usually reserve the Tuesday SH Beat for celebration messages and the Friday Beat for general information but, since Friday’s Beat was utilized to get the word out about the enrollment timeline we have a lot of general info we need to get out to you today.
I do want to say congratulations to our SHS Student Council and their moderators, Mrs. Starke and Mrs. Howell, on a great Fall Homecoming Week. We did some new and innovative things and our student body seemed to have a great week! More congratulations go out to:

Positive and effective communication between parents and teachers is absolutely vital to our students success! Parents of high school age children please make an effort to come in as well. There is a lot of value in the parent teacher conference even at the high school level!

Report Cards Available this Week
First quarter report cards will be available on Thursday of this week. Elementary students (grades k – 5) will continue to bring home a paper copy of their report card. Parents of secondary students (grades 6-12) can access their report cards on the FACTS Family Portal site.

SCRIPing for Bonus Sales
It’s not too late to take advantage of the Scrip Bonus Fest! There are still 4 days left to boost your earnings! Each morning check MyScripWallet to see which brands have an earnings increased for that day. This is a great opportunity to maximize your tuition savings and get a head start on your holiday shopping!

Two Calendar Adjustments
#1 – We found out from the diocese last week that we will be cancelling school on Monday, November 11. The good news is that the diocese has revamped and IMPROVED benefits package for diocesan employees!
In order to effectively communicate this significant set of changes they are holding meetings across the diocese. All parish employees eligible for benefits are required to attend these meetings and get re-enrolled in whatever benefits packages they choose to take advantage of.
The meeting for St. Vincent dePaul employees (that’s us) is on Monday morning Nov. 11 at 8am. It will be held at St. Andrew’s School in Tipton. We will be canceling school on this date so that all employees can be available for this meeting We will not be required to make this day up in our school calendar.
#2 – We were scheduled to be out of school on Monday, March 23rd for a professional development day. That day has been moved to Friday, March 20th. Consequently, NO SCHOOL on March 20 but we will be in session on Monday, March 23.
Elementary Grandparents Day this Friday.
We will be celebrating elementary grandparents day this Friday! Grandparents should check in to the school by 8am and we will have 8th graders available to show them to their grandchild’s classroom.
All School Mass will begin at 8:30 in the Church, followed by a number of events back at school. The Book Fair will be open for any grandparent that wishes to attend with their grandchildren.

Knights of Columbus Family Dinner Night
The Sedalia Knights of Columbus have restarted their Family Night Buffets. They will be doing them quarterly with the first one coming up on Wednesday, October 23rd at the Knights Hall located at 1708 Elm Hills Blvd here in Sedalia.
The Knights will be serving from 4 pm to 7 pm. The price is Adults $9 Children (6-12) $5.
An excellent menu includes All You Can Eat Catfish with two meat or main dish options, sides, drink, and dessert.
Mark your calendar, hope you can attend, lend a hand, and pass the word.
SHS to Host District Volleyball
The Grems will be hosting the MSHSAA District Tournament next week in the McGremlin Gym. Opening round play will be held on Monday, October 28. The finals are slated for Wednesday, October 30. Please come cheer on the girls!
Mrs. Kennon has asked me to share that we could really use some help in the concession stand next week for the District Volleyball Tournament. This is a great way to meet other Sacred Heart families and help your students get some service hours in.

Por favor esté al pendiente de la información de registro para agendar una conferencia. ¡La comunicación efectiva y positiva entre padres y maestros es absolutamente vital para el éxito de nuestros estudiantes! ¡Los padres de estudiantes en high school (bachillerato) por favor hagan un esfuerzo para venir también. ¡Hay mucho valor en la conferencia padres-maestros incluso a nivel bachillerato!

Boletas de calificaciones disponibles esta semana
Las boletas de calificaciones estarán disponibles el jueves de esta semana. Los estudiantes de primaria (grados k – 5) continuarán llevando a casa una copia impresa de su reporte de calificaciones. Los padres de estudiantes en grados de secundaria y bachillerato (grados 6 – 12) pueden acceder a su reporte de calificaciones en el sitio de FACTS Family Portal.

Dos Ajustes al Calendario
#1 – La semana pasada nos enteramos que vamos a cancelar clases el lunes 11 de noviembre. ¡Las buenas noticias son que la Diócesis ha renovado y MEJORADO los paquetes de beneficios para los empleados diocesanos!
Con el fin de comunicar eficientemente este conjunto de cambios, ellos están teniendo reuniones en toda la diócesis. Todos los empleados parroquiales elegibles para beneficios deben asistir a estas juntas y re- inscribirse en los paquetes de beneficios que elijan aprovechar.
La junta para los empleados de San Vicente de Paúl (nosotros) es el lunes 11 de noviembre a las 8am. Esta se llevará a cabo en la Escuela de San Andrés en Tipton. Vamos a cancelar clases en esa fecha para que todos los empleados estén disponibles para esta junta. No estamos obligados a reponer este día en el calendario escolar.
#2 – Teniamos programado no tener clases el lunes 23 de marzo para desarrollo profesional. Ese día se ha movido al viernes 20 de marzo. En consecuencia NO HABRÁ CLASES el viernes 20 de marzo, pero si tendremos clases el lunes 23 de marzo.
Día de los Abuelos este viernes
¡Vamos a celebrar el día de los abuelos el viernes! Los abuelos deberán registrarse al llegar a la escuela a las 8 am, tendremos alumnos de 8o grado para mostrarles el salón de sus nietos.
La misa de primaria comenzará a las 8:30 en la iglesia, seguida de una variedad de eventos en la escuela. La Feria del Libro estará abierta para cualquier abuelo que desee asistir con sus nietos.
¡Si tiene preguntas por favor contacte al maestro (a) de su hijo/a. Gracias y estamos emocionados por tener a nuestros abuelos aquí el VIERNES!
Noche de Cena Familiar en los Caballeros de Colón
Los Caballeros Colón de Sedalia han reiniciado sus buffets de Noches Familiares. Ellos han estado haciendo esto trimestralmente, la primera noche será el 23 de octubre en el Salón de los Caballeros ubicado en 1708 Elm Hills Blvd aquí en Sedalia.
Los Caballeros tendrán este servicio de 4 pm a 7 pm. El precio por adultos es de $9, NIños (6-12 años) $5.
El excelente menú incluye todo el pescado que pueda comer con dos carnes o dos opciones de plato principal para elegir, complementos, bebida y postre. El volante anexo detalla el evento de Noche Familiar y el horario.

El SHS será el Anfitrión de los Juegos de Voleibol de Distrito
La próxima semana los Gremlins serán los anfitriones del Torneo de Distrito de MSHSAA en el Gimnasio McGremlin. La ronda de apertura se jugará el lunes 28 de octubre. Las finales están programadas para el miércoles 30 de octubre. ¡Por favor asista y anime a las chicas!
La Sra. Kennon me ha pedido si puedo compartirles que necesitamos ayuda en el puesto de concesión para la próxima semana durante el Torneo de Distrito de Voleibol. Esta es una gran manera de conocer otras familias del SH y ayudar a los estudiantes a ganar algunas horas de servicio.
