Increase in Instructional Minutes: Grades 6-12
In an effort to increase instructional minutes, Sacred Heart will be eliminating homeroom for the 2019-2020 Academic Year. This will allow our teachers 258 minutes of instructional time per week in First and Second Hour. This move was strongly supported by our faculty and we are excited to be able to provide your student with more instructional minutes in the school day without increasing the length of the school day.
Dress Code Changes: Grades K-12
Sandals will no longer be a footwear option for Sacred Heart Students. Students will be required to wear closed-toed shoes with a heel. This change allows students to be properly dressed for PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) requirements in our science classrooms and removes trip hazards when students are asked to evacuate the school building.
Electronics/Cell Phone Policy: Grades K-12
Students are not permitted to wear smartwatches during the school day. Smartwatches distract from the learning process and the removal of smartwatches ensures our teachers can effectively implement academic honesty in the classroom.
Junior/Senior Lounge: Grades 11-12
Juniors and Seniors will be allowed access to a lounge in the Library from 7:30 – 7:50 a.m. Keurigs and couches will be provided by the staff. Students are not allowed to bring their beverage to the first hour as per the food and drink policy. K-Cups will be provided through a free-will donation. (Anticipated Grand Opening September 2nd)
