The Disciple’s Armor (5th Grade)

September 9 @ 2:00 pm - 2:45 pm

The Disciple’s Armor – 5th Grade Students/Disciples Receive a Rosary

From Father Joe… I am blessed to have a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Elementary and Special Education. A challenge we teachers face when we teach religion is that it cannot (or should not) be taught like any other subject.

We are not simply imparting information. Rather, we consistently introduce disciples (students) to the person of Jesus Christ, inviting them to respond in love to Jesus.  At the same time, we want disciples to help others fall in love with Jesus. The Catholic Church has many pieces of armor that can assist us in growing in our relationship with Jesus Christ. The armor helps us in the spiritual battle to choose to be Jesus’ disciple, fall in love with him and protect us from Satan’s desire that we stay distant from the person of Jesus Christ.

In the early weeks of September, the fifth-grade students will learn about the rosary. During Religion Class on September 9, they will come to church for a prayer service where we will give them an important piece of the armor, The Rosary.  Families of Fifth graders are certainly welcome to this important prayer service.  Please come if you can!  Since it’s just fifth graders, we should be able to social distance just fine.
