Spirit Week and Winter Homecoming 2023 is coming up next week. After taking the day off for the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday on Monday, the events are in full swing beginning on Tuesday. The week culminates with the Homecoming game and festivities on Friday the 20th.
Parents and alumni – – – we certainly hope you are making plans to join us for the post game reception in the Hoying Gym immediately after the game. The Alumni Association is sponsoring this event and we are looking forward to a great time. Here are some of the details:
(Although this is an adults only event, the Sacred Heart senior class will be providing child care in the main gym for a free will donation. Proceeds from this go towards the Senior Mission Trip.)

Happy Winter Homecoming Week!
January 17 -20 is Winter Homecoming Week. The theme this year is Over The Top!
The student council has many fun activities planned for the high school students. The week will end with an all school pep rally on Friday, January 20. That day will be a spirit dress day for PK-8. I can’t wait to see everyone decked out in red and white showing their Gremlin Pride! Make plans now to attend the JV-V basketball games on Tuesday and Friday of homecoming week. There will be a cheer clinic hosted at the Tuesday night game and a 50/50 raffle held at the Friday night game. The 50/50 raffle will benefit the Senior Mission Trip.

Pro Life Observance
Come join the HS choir and our JH students, along with the rest of our community, on Friday, January 20th at 12:00pm at the Pettis County Courthouse to give thanks that the Supreme Court overturned the January 22, 1973, Roe v. Wade decision and ruled that abortion is not a constitutional right, returning the issue to the states. Let us give thanks that all life, born and unborn, is protected in our great state of Missouri.
Let us recommit ourselves to protect the innocent and defend the weak everywhere, because life, from conception, is not a right in all the states of our country. Come stand with us to state publicly that life, born and unborn, is a right to be respected, defended, and protected. The keynote speaker will be Kathy Forck, Director of Mid-Missouri Forty Days for Life.

Week of Prayer for Christian Unity January 18-25
A baptism is recognized in the Catholic Church of anyone who is baptized with water and is baptized in the Name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. We are all baptized into the one body of Christ, though we admit the body is fractured. It is not the unified Body of Christ. We should always pray for the community of believers to become the unified body of Christ. During the week of Prayer for Christian Unity, we once again draw our attention to the desire for unity. And, in the meantime, we continue to dialogue, work together with God’s graces to make this a better world for everyone, help everyone be with God in Heaven on the last day, and at Sacred Heart School to grow together as disciples of Jesus Chirst. National Catholic Youth Conference
The greatly anticipated NCYC is now available for SH students. In case you didn’t know, NCYC is a national three-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teens and adult chaperones. In 2019, more than 23,000 young people attended the conference, with over 400 attending from our diocese. This year, the conference will be held on November 16-18, 2023, at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, IN. Saint Vincent de Paul Parish will join other parishes in the Diocese of Jefferson City to attend this amazing event that brings young people together to pray, worship, grow in faith, fellowship with others, and strengthen their relationship with Jesus.
If you are interested, please reach out to Mr. Gonzalez. Registration is due on March 15th. Tickets are $650 per person with a $250 non-refundable initial deposit due within 2 weeks upon submitting your registration.

National Evangelization Team (NET) Retreat
On Tuesday, January 24th, the NET Team will lead SH students in the traditional NET Retreat. Part of our faith education program is to provide every student with the opportunity to attend a retreat and live the experience of prayer, devotions, testimony, sacraments, and fun. This will certainly help students grow in their personal relationship with Jesus as they participate in the activities that will take place that day from 9 am through 3 pm. Join us in prayer as we come closer to this retreat so that the Holy Spirit might inspire the NET Team and open the hearts and souls of the attendees. Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love. Amen.

Sacred Heart School aligns its moral teaching with the teaching of the Catholic Church. Consequently, we firmly believe that human life must be respected and protected absolutely from the moment of conception. From this moment, a human being must be recognized as having the rights of a person -among which is the inviolable right of every innocent being to life. (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2270). This respect and love for life continue as life progresses throughout the different natural stages. Those whose lives are diminished or weakened deserve special respect. Sick or handicapped persons should be helped to lead lives as normal as possible (Catechism of the Catholic Church, 2276). Since Faith is our primary pillar, SHS works passionately to help parents in the education of their children with an educational product that is embedded in Catholic Faith. All our activities have this seal, and the Religion Curriculum gets deep into this topics so students can learn, ask questions, make sense of it, and apply this to their lives.

It is with sadness and joy that I announce the opening of the Head and Assistant High School Volleyball Coaching positions. Coach Siron has served as the head coach for the past 3 seasons and been assisted by Jen Volcko. The past 3 years have been filled with success, accomplishment milestones and great memories created for the girls in the program. I am saddened they will no longer be part of the Volleyball coaching staff but am thrilled that Mrs. Siron will be able to follow her daughter as she embarks on her collegiate volleyball journey. Mrs. Volcko has spent 10+ years giving her time to Sacred Heart and to the Volleyball program, she too will be enjoying more time with her family. Along with the new year, comes rebate payouts from 2022. We are working hard to run our reports to pull the information together. We plan to have it ready to turn over to our Finance Manager by the end of January. Look for your rebates to be paid out sometime in February. Our next in house order for physical gift cards will be Monday, January 23rd. All orders submitted to the school office by the end of school, or through the RaiseRight app by 8pm, on the 23rd will be included in the order. Orders should be ready for pick-up the following week.
Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). Come in during our volunteer open hours on Tuesday & Thursday from 9:30am – 11am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the office or email it to scrip@gogremlins.com. Our volunteers will fill your order and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will not be at Masses this weekend. We’ll be back at all Masses on Sunday, January 22nd. Questions? Del 17 al 20 de enero es la Semana de Homecoming de Invierno. ¡El tema de este año es Over The Top!
El consejo estudiantil tiene muchas actividades divertidas planeadas para los estudiantes de preparatoria. La semana terminará con una asamblea de ánimo de toda la escuela el viernes 20 de enero. Ese día será un día de Spirit Wear para los niños de PK-8. ¡No puedo esperar a ver a todos vestidos de rojo y blanco mostrando su Orgullo Gremlin! Haga planes ahora para asistir a los juegos de baloncesto JV-V el martes y viernes de la semana de Homecoming. Habrá una clínica de porristas en el juego del martes por la noche y una rifa 50/50 en el juego del viernes por la noche. La rifa 50/50 beneficiará al Viaje Misionero para los alumnos de último año.

Conferencia Nacional de la Juventud Católica
El muy esperado NCYC ya está disponible para los estudiantes de SH. En caso de que no lo supiera, NCYC es una experiencia nacional de tres días de oración, comunidad y empoderamiento para adolescentes católicos y acompañantes adultos. En 2019, más de 23 000 jóvenes asistieron a la conferencia, con más de 400 asistentes de nuestra diócesis. Este año, la conferencia se llevará a cabo del 16 al 18 de noviembre de 2023 en el Centro de Convenciones de Indiana en Indianápolis, IN. La parroquia de San Vicente de Paúl se unirá a otras parroquias de la Diócesis de Jefferson City para asistir a este increíble evento que reúne a los jóvenes para orar, adorar, crecer en la fe, tener compañerismo con los demás y fortalecer su relación con Jesús.

Retiro del Equipo Nacional de Evangelización (NET)
El martes 24 de enero, el equipo NET guiará a los estudiantes de SH en el tradicional Retiro NET. Parte de nuestro programa de educación en la fe es brindar a cada estudiante la oportunidad de asistir a un retiro y vivir la experiencia de la oración, las devociones, el testimonio, los sacramentos y la diversión. Esto sin duda ayudará a los estudiantes a crecer en su relación personal con Jesús mientras participan en las actividades que se llevarán a cabo ese día de 9 am a 3 pm. Únase a nosotros en oración a medida que nos acercamos a este retiro para que el Espíritu Santo pueda inspirar al Equipo NET y abrir los corazones y las almas de los asistentes. Es con tristeza y alegría que anunció la apertura de los puestos de Jefe y Asistente de Entrenador de Voleibol de Escuela Preparatoria. La entrenadora Siron se ha desempeñado como entrenadora en jefe durante las últimas 3 temporadas y ha sido asistido por Jen Volcko. Los últimos 3 años han estado llenos de éxito, hitos de logros y grandes recuerdos creados para las niñas del programa. Me entristece que ya no sean parte del cuerpo técnico de Voleibol, pero estoy encantada de que la Sra. Siron pueda seguir a su hija mientras se embarca en su viaje universitario de voleibol. La Sra. Volcko ha pasado años dedicando su tiempo al Sagrado Corazón y al programa de Voleibol, ella también disfrutará más tiempo con su familia. Desde el fondo de mi corazón estoy agradecido y bendecido de haber tenido la oportunidad de trabajar junto a ellos. El candidato exitoso para presidente de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón será un católico activo, apasionado por promover el modelo de administración de la educación católica, fomentar la identidad católica, implementar y expandir el plan estratégico actual, brindar estabilidad financiera y vitalidad operativa a la escuela, y construcción de relaciones comunitarias.
La experiencia en la gestión financiera empresarial y la confianza para liderar los esfuerzos filantrópicos de la escuela serán esenciales. El presidente aprovecha la influencia externa e interna para la viabilidad a largo plazo de la escuela. El Presidente sirve y es apoyado por un Consejo Asesor y reporta directamente al párroco de San Vicente de Paul.
Se puede lograr una capacidad demostrada para la planificación estratégica y el liderazgo institucional a través de varias trayectorias profesionales, incluida la educación, la gestión sin fines de lucro o el trabajo en el sector público o corporativo.

McDonald’s se ha unido al programa nacional, pero nuestra marca local de McDonald’s sigue siendo la mejor opción al comprar tarjetas de regalo físicas a través de la aplicación RaiseRight. Elija McDonalds $5 – Local y/o McDonalds $10 – Local para asegurarse de obtener el mejor reembolso (5% en lugar del 2% con la cadena nacional).
Junto con el nuevo año, vienen los pagos de reembolsos a partir de 2022. Estamos trabajando arduamente para ejecutar nuestros informes para recopilar la información. Nuestro próximo pedido interno de tarjetas de regalo físicas será el lunes 23 de enero. Acérquese durante nuestro horario de voluntariado los martes y jueves de 9:30 am a 11:00 am para compras inmediatas, o deje su pedido en la oficina o envíelo por correo electrónico a scrip@gogremlins.com. Nuestros voluntarios llenarán su pedido y le avisarán cuando esté disponible para recogerlo. RaiseRight no estará en las Misas este fin de semana.
