Good afternoon everyone,
SHS is blessed to have a wonderful roster of dedicated and talented faculty and Mr. Sam Jones is no exception. It is with a heavy heart that I share Mr. Jones’s announcement that he will not be returning to SHS next fall. Mr. Jones has been a blessing to the Sacred Heart community in his five years as our varsity soccer coach and four years as a school administrator and science instructor. In his email to faculty and staff earlier this week he wrote:
“I want to thank everyone for my five years as a member of the SH family. I have some amazing opportunities at SH and have made friendships that will last a lifetime. I feel very confident in Mrs. Martin’s leadership abilities and I think the school continues to move in a very positive direction. Please know that I leave SH with very fond memories and will continue to be an advocate for the school.”
It has been an honor and a pleasure for me personally to be able to work alongside him and get to know him. I know that all of us in the Sacred Heart community wish him the very, very best in his future pursuits.

SHS Development News: Kremer Foundation Scholarship
Sacred Heart School is blessed to be the recipient of a grant through the Kremer Foundation! The George and Mary Kremer Foundation was established in 1985 for the sole purpose of providing Catholic elementary schools in the continental United States with Tuition Assistance Grants for children from financially challenged families. This partnership includes SHS receiving $10,000 annually to support K-8 tuition assistance. Incredible! The Kremer Foundation was extremely impressed with Sacred Heart School. Kudos to the SHS family for remarkable success that inspires people to invest in our wonderful school!
Remembering Zach
Last week we remembered and honored the life of Zachary Parsons with a Dress UP Day. Zach held high standards and goals in every area of his life, from how he treated others, to how he chose to dress. “You look good, you do good,” he liked to say. Zach treated everyone with respect and kindness. To honor the life of a student we lost too soon, students were asked to not only dress up but to stretch beyond their comfort zones to lift others up in respect and kindness.
Thanks so much to all who helped honor Zach. We raised a little over $625 which will be matched by the Parsons family and an anonymous donor to support the school’s fine arts programs. Thank you for helping us honor the life of a special member of our SHS family.
Dr. Seuss and our 100th Day of School
Sacred Heart’s 1st-3rd grade teachers sure know how to have fun! Students loved the opportunity to celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2nd with an exciting day of reading some of the author’s most famous works and enjoying hands-on Dr. Seuss activities with each of these teachers as they rotated classrooms.
The first, second, and third grade classes celebrated Dr. Suess’s birthday on March 2 with some fun STEM projects. Mrs. Tucker shared with the classes how to grow a Grinch’s heart after reading The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, Mrs. Sobaski challenged the kids to make a hot air balloon that would float after reading Oh the Places You’ll Go!, Mrs. Bentch read, The Cat in the Hat and taught the students how to complete a directed drawing, and Mrs. William read Horton Hears a Who! and guided the children in making cup phones.
Mrs. Sobaski’s 100 day activities:
We brought collections of 100 to school to celebrate our 100th day. We enjoyed grouping our 100 collections into groups of tens, then we made cool designs with them and had an art walk where we could enjoy everyone’s creations. Last we compared the weight of our collections using a balance scale. We also wrote about things we would like to do by the time we reach 100 years old.

Welcome to new First Grader Alaina Reine
Welcome to Alaina Reine, our new first grader in Mrs. Tucker’s class. Alaina and her parents just moved to Sedalia from the Kansas City area. We are thrilled to have them as part of our Sacred Heart family and extend a warm welcome to them.
Senior Celebrations
Megan Wingerter
Megan will be heading to the University of Missouri in August. She is contemplating a major either in physical therapy or becoming a physician’s assistant. She is really looking forward to getting out there and meeting new people, being in a new city, and new restaurants! Megan reports she will be spotted at Shakespear’s Pizza on a regular basis! She says she is currently getting to know people on a social media platform that Mizzou suggests to find potential roommates. No decisions made yet!
SHHS Seniors Fare Well in District Speech
The Central District Speech Tournament was held virtually last week and 3 Gremlin seniors did very well. All 3 of the SHHS Speech Team’s entries all advanced to finals!

Senior Addie Hunsaker placed 7th in Prose Reading and 5th in Poetry.

Senior Hayden Altena won 3rd place in Radio Speaking.

Senior Jeff Hollabaugh took 2nd place in U. S. Extemporaneous Speaking.
Although these students were not able to enjoy the entire regular speech season this year, we are all very proud and impressed by their ability to perform so well in the unfamiliar virtual format. We are also proud of their accomplishments throughout their four years as Talking Gremlins. Well done, seniors!

Buenas tardes a todos,
La Escuela del Sagrado Corazón tiene la suerte de tener una maravillosa lista de profesores dedicados y talentosos y el Sr. Jones no es la excepción. Con gran pesar comparto el anuncio del Sr. Jones de no regresar a SHS el próximo otoño. El Sr. Jones ha sido una bendición para la comunidad del Sagrado Corazón en sus cinco años como entrenador de fútbol soccer categoría varsity y cuatro años como administrador escolar e instructor de ciencias. En su correo electrónico al personal y docentes a principios de esta semana escribió:
“Quiero agradecer a todos por mis cinco años como miembro de la familia SH. Tengo algunas oportunidades increíbles en SH y he hecho amistades que durarán toda la vida. Me siento muy confiado en las habilidades de liderazgo de la Sra. Martin y creo que la escuela continúa avanzando en una dirección muy positiva. Quiero que sea de su conocimiento que dejo SH con muy buenos recuerdos y continuaré siendo un defensor de la escuela.”
Ha sido un honor y un placer para mí personalmente poder trabajar junto con él y conocerlo. Se que todos nosotros en la comunidad del Sagrado Corazón le deseamos lo mejor en sus futuras actividades.

Noticias de Desarrollo de SHS: Beca de la Fundación Kremer
¡La Escuela del Sagrado Corazón tiene la bendición de recibir una subvención a través de la Fundación Kremer!. La Fundación George y Mary Kremer se estableció en 1985 con el único propósito de proporcionar becas de Asistencia para la Colegiatura a las escuelas primarias católicas en los Estados Unidos continentales para niños con dificultades económicas. Esta asociación incluye que SHS reciba $10,000 anualmente para apoyar la asistencia de colegiatura de K a 8. ¡Increíble!. La Fundación Kremer quedó muy impresionada con la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón. ¡Felicitaciones a la familia de SHS por el notable éxito que inspira a las personas a invertir en nuestra maravillosa escuela!.
Recordando a Zach
La semana pasada recordamos y honramos la vida de Zachary Parsons con un Día de Vestimenta Formal. Zach tenía altos estándares y metas en cada área de su vida, desde cómo trataba a los demás hasta como elegía vestirse. Le gustaba decir “Te ves bien, te va bien”. Zach trató a todos con respeto y amabilidad. Para honrar la vida de un estudiante que perdimos demasiado pronto, se pidió a los estudiantes que no solo se vistieran elegantes sino que fueran más allá de su zona de confort para tratar a los demás con respeto y amabilidad.
Muchas gracias a todos los que ayudaron a honrar a Zach. Recaudamos un poco más de $625 que serán igualados por la Familia Parsons y un donante anónimo para apoyar el programa de artes de la escuela. Gracias por ayudarnos a honrar la vida de un miembro especial de nuestra familia SHS.
Dr. Seuss y nuestros 100 Días de Clases
¡Las maestras de 1er a 3er grado saben como divertirse! A los estudiantes les encantó la oportunidad de celebrar el cumpleaños de Dr. Seuss el 2 de marzo con un emocionante día de lectura de algunas de las obras más famosas del autor y disfrutar de las actividades prácticas del Dr. Seuss con cada uno de estos maestros mientras rotaban las aulas.
Los salones de primero, segundo y tercer grado celebraron el cumpleaños del Dr. Seuss con algunos proyectos STEM divertidos. La Sra. Tucker compartió con las clases cómo hacer crecer el corazón de un Grinch después de leer The Grinch Who Stole Christmas, la Sra. Sobaski desafió a los niños a hacer un globo de aire caliente que flotaría después de leer Oh the Places You’ll Go!, la Sra. Bentch leyó, The Cat in the Hat y enseñó a los estudiantes cómo completar un dibujo dirigido y la Sra. Bienvenida a la nueva estudiante de Primer Grado Alaina Reine
Bienvenida Alaina Reine, nuestra nueva alumna de primer grado en el salón de la Sra. Tucker. Alaina y sus padres se acaban de mudar a Sedalia desde el área de Kansas City. Estamos encantados de tenerlos como parte de nuestra familia del Sagrado Corazón y le damos una cálida bienvenida.
Celebraciones Senior
Megan Wingerter
Megan asistirá a la Universidad de Missouri en el mes de agosto. Está contemplando la posibilidad de especializarse en fisioterapia o convertirse en asistente médico. ¡Tiene muchas ganas de salir y conocer gente nueva, estar en una ciudad nueva y nuevos restaurantes!. Megan dice que la verán en Shakespear’s Pizza con regularidad. Dice que actualmente está conociendo gente en una plataforma de redes sociales que sugiere Mizzou para encontrar posibles compañeros de cuarto. ¡Aún no ha tomado decisiones!.
Les va bien a los alumnos del Grado Senior de SHHS en el Discurso del Distrito
El Torneo de Oratoria del Distrito Central se llevó a cabo virtualmente la semana pasada y 3 Gremlins del Grado Senior lo hicieron muy bien. ¡Los 3 integrantes del Equipo de Oratoria de SHHS avanzaron a la final!

Aunque estos estudiantes no pudieron disfrutar de toda la temporada regular de discursos, todos estamos muy orgullosos e impresionados por su capacidad para desempeñarse tan bien en un formato virtual desconocido. También estamos orgullosos de sus logros a lo largo de sus cuatro años como Gremlins Parlantes. ¡Bien hecho estudiantes del grado Senior!
