Blessing of the Pets – Please Attend

Speaking of Blessing of the Pets… This message is to parents of students grades Pre K-5.

October 4th is the feast day of St. Francis of Assisi.  On his feast day, it is customary for parish members to bring their pets for the priest for a blessing.  This blessing is conducted in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s love for all creatures.

Our Blessing of the Pets will take place on Friday, Oct. 4 in the Sacred Heart School Main Gym @ 8:00 AM

This activity is for children and parents of children in grades PRE-K through 5.  For smaller animals, the blessing will take place in the gym.  Cats and other critters, such as rabbits or chickens, should be contained in a cage or carrier.  Dogs, well-trained, housebroken and relieved should be on a leash.

Parents may go to the gym upon arrival at school.  Students should go to class to get attendance and lunch count taken.  The teachers will bring students to the gym where they can join their parents and pets.  If it is not possible for the child and parent to bring their pet, the student can bring a picture of the animal to the blessing.

After the blessing, someone will have to be available to return the animal home.  As much as the kids would love it we, unfortunately, cannot have the pets remain with us for the school day.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you!
