Announcements:

• Today is the end of the first quarter.  Grades are to be finalized and posted by Wednesday, October 24th @ 9 a.m.
• STUCO will meet in Mrs. Howells room today during lunch. Please plan to attend.
• Elementary mass today at 8:15am.
• Several JH and HS students will be dismissed at 2:40 today to attend Fear Fest tonight.  They will need to change clothes and meet the Warrensburg bus immediately after school. That list has been shared via email.

 

Sports Action

Volleyball:

The varsity girls (19-10-1 / 9-1) wrapped up a share of the Kaysinger Conference crown last night with a 25-11, 25-11 win over the Otterville Eagles.  The varsity begins district play on Monday night at Santa Fe High School with a first round match vs the LaMonte Vikings. Way to go girls!

 

JH Volleyball:

The JH Girls “A” (17-0) & “B” (5-2-3) were both victorious last night at home vs. Otterville.  The girls begin to play in the Kaysinger Conference tournament tonight in Green Ridge. They will play the winner of LaMonte and Lincoln at 7pm.

 

Girls Golf:

Congratulations to Coach Lucchesi and all the girls on a great Girls Golf season!

 

Soccer:  

The varsity boys (12-9 / 4-1) took it on the chin 7-0 in a match with Southern Boone High School last night at Clover Dell Soccer Park.  The boys will open district tournament play on Wednesday in Green Ridge with an 8pm match vs. St. Paul’s.

 

JH Soccer:

The Gremlin JH Soccer teams (5-3-1) takes part in the Kaysinger Conference JH Soccer Tournament next week in Smithton.  The Grems play the host Smithton Tigers at 6:30 on Tuesday the 23rd.

 

JH Football:

The JH Football team concluded a very successful season with a 3-1 overall record!

Greetings!

 

Thanks to everyone who planned, participated in and supported our Parish Bazaar last weekend.  It was a great success and a great deal of fun!

 

In an additional thank you… Thanks to everyone who worked at the grandstand concession stands during the Missouri State Fair. Despite bad weather that canceled a couple of concerts, our efforts in the grandstand generated $11,150! All funds will support this year’s operational budget. What a huge boost!

 

Here are a few items of general interest as we close out this week and the first quarter.

 

First Quarter Drawing to a Close

 

It is a little hard to imagine but the first quarter officially comes to an end today!  Teachers have been asked to have first quarter grades posted on Option C by 9am Wednesday morning.  In keeping with the end of the first quarter, parent-teacher conferences are coming up on Tuesday, October 30 and Thursday, November 1.  Please be watching for more information on how to get signed up for conferences. It is very important that you come in and visit with your children’s teachers face to face.  We look forward to seeing you!

 

Student Council Bake Sale

 

The SHHS Student Council Bake Sale will be held on Tuesday, October 23rd in the school cafeteria during the lunch periods. They will have items priced from .25 cents to $2. All proceeds will be dedicated to the Bothwell Regional Health Center Cardiac Rehab.  Elementary parents should be receiving more information from your child’s teacher. Thanks!

 

Fall Book Fair

 

 

Scholastic BOOK FAIR begins next week on Friday, October 26 just in time for Grandparents Day and runs through Thursday, November 1st in the Sacred Heart Commons.  Our Fall Book Fair is ALL ABOUT BOOKS! Did you know reading at an early age is a crucial component of developing into a lifelong reader? We hope to see you at the Book Fair.

 

Upcoming Tournament Action

 

Fall sports seasons are coming to an end and District tournaments are right around the corner.

Volleyball:  The girls are the second seed and open play on Monday night vs. LaMonte.  If we win the semi-final and final action take place on Wednesday. The tournament is being played at Santa Fe High School.

 

Junior High Volleyball:  The girls are having a great season and are seeded first in the Conference tournament coming up in Green Ridge this weekend.  First round action is at 7pm on Friday night vs the winner of the LaMonte – Lincoln game. Play will resume at 10am on Saturday with the trophy games beginning at noon.

 

Varsity Soccer:  The Grems hold the third seed and kick off against the St. Paul’s Saints at 8pm on Wednesday the 24th. If we get by the Saints we will advance to the championship match on Friday the 26th.  The tournament is being played in Green Ridge.

 

Junior High Soccer: The Grems concluded their regular season with a record of 5-3-1 and earned the 3rd seed in next week’s tournament in Smithton.  SH opens with a match against Smithton at 6:30 on Tuesday, the 23rd. Trophy games will be played on Wednesday night.

¡Saludos!

 

Gracias a todos los que planearon, participaron y apoyaron el Bazar de nuestra Parroquia el fin de semana pasado. ¡Fue un gran éxito y hubo mucha diversión!

 

Agradecimiento adicional… ¡Gracias a todos los que trabajaron en los puestos de venta durante la Feria. A pesar del mal clima que ocasionó la cancelación de un par de conciertos, nuestros esfuerzos en el Grandstand generaron $11,150! Todos los fondos apoyarán el presupuestos operativo de este año. ¡Que buen impulso!

 

A continuación tenemos algunos aspectos de interés general a medida que concluimos esta semana y el primer trimestre.

 

El Primer Trimestre se Acerca al Final

 

¡Es difícil imaginar pero nuestro primer trimestre ha llegado hoy a su final! Se le la ha pedido a los maestros que tengan las calificaciones publicadas en la Opción C a las 9 am del miércoles. Siguiendo con el final del primer trimestre- las conferencias padres- maestros se llevarán a cabo el martes 30 de octubre y el jueves 1 de noviembre. Por favor esté al pendiente de más información sobre cómo registrarse para las conferencias. Es muy  importante que venga y se reúna con los maestros de sus niños en persona. ¡Esperamos verlo!

 

Venta de Repostería del Consejo Estudiantil

 

La venta de repostería del Consejo Estudiantil del SHHS  será el martes 23 de octubre en la cafetería de la escuela durante los periodos del almuerzo. Los precios de los artículos estarán entre los .25 centavos y los  $2. Todo lo recaudado se destinará a Bothwell Regional Health Center Cardiac Rehab. Los padres de grados de Primaria recibirán más información por parte de los maestros de sus hijos. ¡Gracias!

 

Feria del Libro de Otoño

 

 

La FERIA DEL LIBRO de Scholastic comenzará el viernes 26 de octubre, justo a tiempo para el Día de los Abuelos y continuará hasta el jueves 1 de noviembre en las áreas comunes del Sagrado Corazón. ¡Nuestra Feria del Libro de Otoño SERÁ TODO SOBRE LIBROS! ¿Sabía que leer a temprana edad es un componente crucial para convertirse en un lector de por vida? Esperamos verlo en la Feria del Libro.

 

Acción del Próximo Torneo

 

La temporada de los deportes de otoño está llegando a su final y los torneos de Distrito están a la vuelta de la esquina.

Voleibol: Las chicas están en la segunda clasificación, abrirán juego vs Lamonte el lunes por la noche. Si ganamos la semifinal y final, habrá acción el miércoles. El torneo se jugará en Santa Fe High School.

 

Voleibol Junior High: Las chicas están teniendo una gran temporada y están  en la primera clasificación en el próximo torneo de este fin de semana en Green Ridge. La acción de la primera ronda será a las 7pm el viernes por la noche vs el ganador entre el juego de LaMonte vs LIncoln. Los juegos se reanudará el sábado  a las 10 am y los juegos por los trofeos comenzarán al mediodía.

 

Fútbol Varsity:  Los Gremlins mantienen la tercera clasificación y comenzarán el torneo en contra de St. Paul’s Saints el miércoles  24 a las 8pm. Si ganamos contra los Saints, avanzaremos al encuentro del campeonato el viernes 26. El torneo se jugará en Green Ridge.

 

Fútbol High School: Los Gremlins concluyeron su temporada regular con un récord de 5-3-1 y ganaron la 3a clasificación en el torneo de la próxima semana en Smithton. SH abre con un encuentro vs Smithton a las  6:30 el martes 23. Los juegos por los trofeos se jugarán el miércoles por la noche.
