Welcome to Our New Faculty/Staff for the 2023-2024 School Year
We would like to welcome the following staff members to the SHS team for the 23-24 school year. Their commitment to continuing the mission of Sacred Heart School and Catholic Education is much appreciated and valued.
Mrs. Lindsey Conardy: Mrs. Conardy is joining us in the junior high school as a Junior High math teacher. Mrs. Conardy holds a Bachelors of Arts in Finance, a Masters in Education, and a Certification in Mathematics Grades 5-9. She joins us with 19 years of teaching experience.
Mrs. Jamie Jennings: Mrs. Jennings is joining us as the new Business Teacher. This position includes yearbook and student council co-sponsorship. Mrs. Jennings holds a Bachelors of Science Marketing and Legal Studies, and a Masters in Occupational Safety Management. She joins us with experience as a Substitute Teacher (Warrensburg R-VI), the Executive Director of Alumni Relations (UCM), the Director of University Events (UCM), the Interim Director of Alumni and Constituent Relations (UCM), the Coordinator of Alumni Events (UCM), and the Director of Marketing (WAFB).
Mrs. Breanna Libby: Mrs. Libby is joining us in the elementary school as the new 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Libby holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education, a Certification in Elementary Education K-6, an ESOL Endorsement, and a Reading Endorsement. She joins us with 4 years of teaching experience.

Ian Smith – United States Marine Corps
Ian has enlisted in the United States Marine Core! Ian will begin this journey with basic training beginning in September in San Diego, CA. Ian is excited about the challenge of being a Marine. He will miss is family and friends the most. We know you will do great things, Ian!
Eric Mercado – Missouri Valley College
Eric is excited to begin an apprenticeship in becoming a journeyman lineman in the Fall! He plans to begin this journey while attending Missouri Valley College! Eric is looking forward to new opportunities and working hard to achieve his goals. Good luck to you, Eric!
Relay for Life
The last paid dress down day for the 22-23 school year supported Relay for Life. Their mission is to to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer. Whether it’s fueling breakthrough research or providing essential services throughout someone’s cancer journey, our fundraising makes a real difference in the fight against cancer. SHS raised $294.65 to support this vital organization. Thank you!

Sacred Heart of Jesus
Many of us know the story of the Gremlin being an AirForce term for unsolved problems in an aircraft. These little fictitious devilish spirits are the problem! Immaculate Heart of Mary, Patroness of the Diocese of Jefferson City
Along with celebrating Father’s Day this weekend, we will be celebrating our Diocesan Feast, the Immaculate Heart of Mary. This Feast will replace the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time. Deacon Christopher Hoffmann, ordained a transitional deacon on June 3, 2023
Here you will see a photo of him functioning as a deacon for his first Sunday mass at 8am June 4, 2023. Thanks to the Knights of Columbus and Ladies Sodality for providing him, his family and parishioners a nice reception after he functioned as deacon at the 11:30am Spanish Mass that same day.

Corpus Christi Procession and Parish Picnic, June 11
Sometimes we have to see God’s humor and celebrate it. We had such a nice turn out for the Corpus Christi Procession and parish picnic at St Patrick Chapel many asked, why we didn’t have the picnic (meal and games) at Sacred Heart where there would be more room? My response was, because if we had it at Sacred Heart, we wouldn’t have gotten the rain we need so badly; sometimes we need to use Murphy’s Law to our advantage! That’s a joke of course, we’re not superstitious. However, in 2024, because of the good attendance of the procession, (and no one complained about walking in the rain — rather much rejoicing) we will process from St Patrick Chapel to Sacred Heart and have the picnic at Sacred Heart School. Shuttle transportation will be provided to take people back to their cars at St Patrick Chapel. Thanks for making this a great success and for witnessing to your faith during the Eucharistic procession to and from the courthouse.
Spanish Mass on June 18th
In deference to the Mass of Celebration with Bishop McKnight at 1:00 pm on Sunday, June 18, at St. Joseph Cathedral in Jefferson City, there will NOT be a Spanish Mass at St. Patrick Chapel on Sunday, June 18. We invite all who normally attend the 11:30 am Mass on Sundays to join us in Jefferson City to celebrate the rededicated cathedral with Bishop McKnight.

St. Vincent de Paul Annual Ice Cream Social
Not only is this a great event to attend for fellowship within our parish and school families, but it’s also an opportunity for students going into 6th to 12th grades to earn service hours during the summer for the 2023-2024 school year! We are looking for a total of 10 students to help throughout the evening. Softball And Baseball All State Recognitions
What a season for our softball and baseball players! The highest level of recognition a student athlete can receive is to be recognized as an all state player! Congratulations to the following students on achieving this recognition!

6TH Grade Inclusion in JH Athletics
Last year MSHSAA passed a new by-law that went into effect for the 22-23 school year that allowed all schools the option to include 6th grade into MSHSAA Junior High sports. The option to include 6th grade could be determined per sport, per gender, and based on numbers. This option is a huge benefit for schools like Sacred Heart when having 6th graders on a team is necessary to sustain a successful program.
We have a terrific turnout of student-athletes who be in 7th and 8th grade for the 2023-2024 school year. In an effort to provide the best experience for our athletes and coaches, Sacred Heart’s Junior High athletic programs will be limited to students in grades 7th and 8th. Students in 6th grade are invited and encouraged to join the sports programs offered through Kaysinger Youth Sports.
We’re looking forward to another great year of Gremlin Athletics and we are grateful for your continued support.
Free Physical Night
All student athletes going into grades 7 – 12 are required to have a current physical on file to participate in school athletics. The physical is good for 2 years. If you have a question about when your child’s physical expires please reach out to me at ablackburn@gogremlins.com. Free physical night will be Thursday, July 27th from 5:00-7:00, please check in at the school commons.
PLEASE NOTE- MSHSAA has a new form for this specific process. Please complete this prior to attending the free physical night with the exception of the last page that will be completed by the physician.

Now that the school year has come to an end it’s time to think about Father’s Day gifts and summer vacations. This just in! There was so much positive feedback on the $25 McDonald’s gift cards, we’ve decided to ADD them to the inventory we keep on hand going forward. This means from now on you’ll be able to choose between three options for denomination on McDonald’s gift cards: $5, $10, and $25.
Our next in-house order for physical gift cards will be Monday, June 26th. All orders submitted to the school office by noon, or through the RaiseRight app by 8pm, on the 26th will be included in the order. Orders should be ready for pick-up the following week.
Don’t forget we have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few). During the summer you can come to the parish business office during our volunteer open hours on Tuesdays from 9:00am – 10:45am for immediate purchases, or drop your order at the school office or email it to the program coordinator. Our volunteers will fill your order on Tuesday and let you know when it’s available for pick-up. RaiseRight will not be at Sunday Masses this weekend. Sedalia Public Library Summer Reading Program
The Sedalia Public Library is kicking off their Summer Reading Program Monday, June 5th. Join them to sign-up to keep your kids reading through the summer. The Summer Reading Program goes from June 5 to July 26 and will be full of exciting events and opportunities to win prizes. PKSA/Revolution FC Soccer will be June 26th-29th from 6:00pm- 8:00pm @ Clover Dell Park
PKSA/REVOLUTION FC Soccer Camp is a fantastic camp for a great price. It’s the time of year that all of our local high school, college, and club coaches come together to provide a wonderful learning opportunity for youth in our community. The camp takes place at Clover Dell Park, June 28th through July 1st from 6:00pm-8:00pm each night. We offer a group rotation where each group spends time with different coaches. Diácono Christopher Hoffmann, ordenado diácono transitorio el 3 de junio de 2023
Aquí verá una foto de él actuando como diácono para su primera misa dominical a las 8:00 am el 4 de junio de 2023. Gracias a Caballeros de Colón y a la Hermandad de Damas por brindarle a él, a su familia y a sus feligreses una agradable recepción después de que funcionó como diácono en la misa en español de las 11:30 am ese mismo día.

Procesión de Corpus Christi y Picnic Parroquial, 11 de junio
A veces tenemos que ver el humor de Dios y celebrarlo. Tuvimos un buen resultado para la Procesión de Corpus Christi y el picnic parroquial en la Capilla de San Patricio. Muchos preguntaron, ¿por qué no tuvimos el picnic (comida y juegos) en el Sagrado Corazón, donde habría más espacio? Mi respuesta fue, porque si la tuviéramos en el Sagrado Corazón, no habríamos recibido la lluvia que tanto necesitamos; ¡a veces necesitamos usar la Ley de Murphy a nuestro favor! Eso es una broma, por supuesto, no somos supersticiosos. Sin embargo, en 2024, debido a la buena asistencia de la procesión (y nadie se quejó de caminar bajo la lluvia, más bien regocijándose) iremos en procesión desde la Capilla de San Patricio hasta el Sagrado Corazón y haremos un picnic en la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón. Se proporcionará transporte de enlace para llevar a las personas de regreso a sus automóviles en la Capilla de San Patricio. Gracias por hacer de esto un gran éxito y por dar testimonio de su fe durante la procesión eucarística hacia y desde el juzgado.
Misa en español el 18 de junio
En deferencia a la Misa de celebración con el obispo McKnight a la 1:00 pm el domingo 18 de junio en la Catedral de St. Joseph en Jefferson City, NO habrá una Misa en español en la Capilla de St. Patrick el domingo 18 de junio. Invitamos a todos los que normalmente asisten a la misa de las 11:30 am los domingos para unirse a nosotros en Jefferson City para celebrar la nueva dedicación de la catedral con el obispo McKnight.

Fiesta anual de helados de San Vicente de Paul

El año pasado, MSHSAA aprobó un nuevo reglamento que entró en vigencia para el año escolar 22-23 y que permitió a todas las escuelas la opción de incluir el sexto grado en los deportes de MSHSAA Junior High. La opción de incluir sexto grado podría determinarse por deporte, por género y en función de los números. Esta opción es un gran beneficio para escuelas como el Sagrado Corazón cuando es necesario tener estudiantes de sexto grado en un equipo para mantener un programa exitoso.
Tenemos una gran participación de estudiantes-atletas que estarán en séptimo y octavo grado para el año escolar 2023-2024. En un esfuerzo por brindar la mejor experiencia a nuestros atletas y entrenadores, los programas atléticos de la secundaria del Sagrado Corazón se limitarán a los estudiantes de los grados 7 y 8. Los estudiantes de sexto grado están invitados y alentados a unirse a los programas deportivos que se ofrecen a través de Kaysinger Youth Sports.

Noche de exámenes físicos gratuitos
Se requiere que todos los estudiantes en los grados 7 al 12 tengan un examen físico actual en el archivo para participar en el atletismo escolar. El físico es válido por 2 años. Esto significa que a partir de ahora podrá elegir entre tres opciones de denominación en las tarjetas de regalo de McDonald’s: $5, $10 y $25.
Nuestro próximo pedido interno de tarjetas de regalo físicas será el lunes 26 de junio. Todos los pedidos enviados a la oficina de la escuela antes del mediodía o a través de la aplicación RaiseRight antes de las 8 pm del día 26 se incluirán en el pedido. Los pedidos deben estar listos para ser recogidos la semana siguiente.
No olvide que tenemos varios minoristas SOLO disponibles a través de la oficina (es decir, Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, Kehde’s, McD, Menards, Taco Bell, Walgreens y VISA, por nombrar algunos). Durante el verano, puede venir a la oficina comercial de la parroquia durante nuestro horario de voluntariado los martes de 9:00 am a 10:45 am para compras inmediatas, o deje su pedido en la oficina de la escuela o envíelo por correo electrónico al coordinador del programa. Nuestros voluntarios llenarán su pedido el martes y le avisarán cuando esté disponible para recogerlo. RaiseRight no estará en las misas dominicales este fin de semana. El campamento de fútbol PKSA/REVOLUTION FC es un campamento fantástico por un excelente precio. Es la época del año en que todos los entrenadores de nuestras escuelas preparatorias, universidades y clubes locales se unen para brindar una maravillosa oportunidad de aprendizaje para los jóvenes de nuestra comunidad. El campamento se lleva a cabo en Clover Dell Park, del 28 de junio al 1 de julio de 6:00 pm a 8:00 pm todas las noches. Ofrecemos una rotación de grupos donde cada grupo pasa tiempo con diferentes entrenadores.
