Greetings All,
As I am sure you are aware by now, during Easter Break, Governor Parsons ordered school campuses to remain closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year. Following these directives, Sacred Heart School will stay the course of Distance Education / Virtual Learning for the remainder of the year. Accepting this as our reality, we will continue to work diligently to make the very best of the situation. Tuesday’s Sacred Heart Beat will feature a special message from Kenya Fuemmeler, our Diocesan Superintendent, along with updates outlining how we will wrap up the school year. May is a season typically full of an abundance of celebrations. We are discussing alternative plans for a variety of these highly anticipated events and look forward to sharing them with you in the very near future.
I am pleased to announce that we are fully staffed for the 2020-2021 school year. Our faculty has been very resilient through this trying time and is enthusiastic about getting back to a sense of normalcy in August! We will share more next week in regard to some assignment changes.

TODAY is 4th Quarter Mid-quarter
Please remember that today is the deadline for the “Pending” status on missing assignments in FACTS. Hopefully this additional time over Easter Break was useful to catch up and fully adjust to the distance learning curriculum. Checking FACTS today, I can see that many of our students have taken advantage of this time to turn in missing work and fully acclimate to distance learning. Great Job Grems!
As communicated via email last week, 3:00 pm today is the cutoff for the “Pending” status. Our staff will be changing those “Pending” grades to reflect completed or missing work. This will hopefully have a very positive impact on most student’s grades. In the event that missing work was not made up, these assignments will be either designated as zeros or given a M “missing” status. These changes will have a negative impact on the student’s current grades. Please allow our staff time over the next week to grade these missing assignments that were submitted late and completely update FACTS. Students will not be subjected to the Late Work Policy and all assignments will be taken for full credit. A reminder that this policy does not apply to Dual-Credit Classes.
A Note from our Pastors – Spiritual Summer Plans
Normally, this time of year, we are thinking a lot about summer plans. Many have already started filling up the calendar with hopeful tournaments, vacations, and other outings. Fr Dave and Fr Joe want to ask the youth of our parish to stay connected to their spiritual lives with the Lord who has given each of us the talents and abilities to do all the other things they will participate in this summer. So, encourage them to take a few days and see how the Lord will allow everything else to fit into the schedule as well. Our youth, their parents nor their priests will outdo God in generosity. The diocesan youth ministry office summer events offers something for just about every type of personality! Totus Tuus: June 21-26; St Vincent de Paul Parish. College students are teachers of the faith who put on a parish wide vacation bible school for grade school students during the day and incredible faith filled high energy fun evenings for the high school students. Camp Maccabee: June 28-July 3 OR July 26-31; St Robert Bellarmine, St Robert, MO home base. Camp Maccabee was founded in 2009 with the purpose of forming bold, Catholic, masculine leaders. Since then, the camp has evolved into a much-anticipated summer event for many young Catholic men (grades 9-12) across the Diocese of Jefferson City. https://diojeffcity.org/camp-
CHRISTPower: July 12-18; Helias Catholic High School home base. An authentically Catholic service retreat for those who were in high school during the 2019-2020 school year to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and his Church. During the day, retreatants are sent out in teams to serve in a variety of non-profit and social service agencies around Jefferson City. In the evening, retreatants return for meals, fellowship, and dynamic evenings filled with games, discussions, praise/worship, sacrament and more! https://diojeffcity.org/
Camp Siena: July 19-23; St Patrick, Laurie home base. Camp Siena is a summer camp experience committed to helping young Catholic women (grades 9-12) deepen their relationship with God and others by exercising, understanding, and living their unique feminine spirituality and becoming the woman God is calling them to be. https://diojeffcity.org/camp-

Seniors 2020 Highlights
Martha Angel
Martha will be attending SFCC in the fall. She will be majoring in Criminal Justice. When Martha finishes at State Fair, she will be continuing her education at a 4 year university. Martha says it is important to her to continue at a private Catholic institution.
Martha says she will miss seeing her friends. It has been hard having their time together cut short because of the pandemic. She feels very prepared for college having gone to Sacred Heart. She appreciates the school’s high expectations and how they have pushed her to be successful. Martha has earned college credit hours attending SFCC CTC program for Criminal Justice as well as 6 college credit hours at Sacred Heart.
Grace Goodwin
Grace is undecided about her college. She has chosen Pharmacology for her major. She is interested in the medical field. She feels like pharmacology will give her the experience she is looking for without having to necessarily be on call or work 12 hour shifts. Grace said she is going to miss playing basketball for Sacred Heart and is looking forward to playing in college. She will also miss the fun banter with Miss McMullin and Eddie during class. Grace said she feels like she will be well prepared for college. She feels Sacred Heart has instilled a great work ethic to help her be successful. She does not anticipate being homesick, and feels prepared for college dorm life. Grace said she has mastered doing her laundry and has been perfecting her cooking skills. Since she has been home, she has been cooking dinner for everyone!
Zaine Dover
Zaine will be heading to SFCC in the fall. He has chosen History for his major. Zaine said he has always been fascinated with history and how we have evolved. Zaine will miss seeing his friends everyday and miss playing sports together. He feels very prepared for college. Zaine said he is used to working hard, as that is the expectation instilled by Sacred Heart teachers. He plans to live at home while attending SFCC. After that, he is headed to Truman State!
SCRIPting More Flexibility
There are some exciting changes coming to the Scrip program. Starting today Scrip rebates earned will be paid out once a year in February. When rebates are paid out you have the flexibility to use them toward the current school year tuition, the next school year’s tuition, or if your tuition is already paid in full, to use them for other school fees. This gives you even more flexibility to use your rebates in the best way to meet your family’s needs. See the attached document for an updated program policy.
As of April 16th all orders, in house or electronic, will go towards the 2020/2021 school year. Stop by the school office Monday through Friday from 8am – noon to shop from our great selection of physical gift cards. We have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few).

Saludos a todos,
Estoy seguro de que para ahora ya está al tanto de que durante nuestro Descanso de Pascua, el gobernador Parsons ordenó que las escuelas permanezcan cerradas por el resto del año escolar 2019-2020. Siguiente estas directrices, la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón continuará con Educación a Distancia / Educación Virtual por el resto del año. Aceptando esto como nuestra realidad, continuaremos trabajando diligentemente para sacar el mejor provecho de la situación. En el Beat del martes se presentará un mensaje de Kenya Fuemmeler, nuestra Superintendente Diocesana, junto con actualizaciones que describirán cómo concluiremos el año escolar. Mayo es típicamente una temporada de muchas celebraciones. Estamos platicando sobre los planes alternos para una gran variedad de estos eventos altamente esperados y esperamos muy pronto compartirlos con usted.
Me complace anunciar que tenemos el personal completo para el año escolar 2020-2021. ¡Nuestro personal docente ha sido muy flexible en este tiempo de prueba y están entusiasmados por volver a la normalidad en agosto! La próxima semana les compartiremos más información en relación a los cambios .

HOY es la mitad del 4o Trimestre
Por favor recuerden que hoy es la fecha límite para que el estatus de “Pendiente” de los trabajos faltantes se cambie en FACTS. Espero que este tiempo adicional de descanso de Pascua fuera de utilidad para que los estudiantes se pusieran al corriente y se ajusten completamente al plan de estudio de aprendizaje a distancia. Hoy al revisar FACTS, vi que muchos de nuestros estudiantes han aprovechado este tiempo para entregar el trabajo faltante y adaptarse complementamente al aprendizaje a distancia. ¡Bien hecho Gremlins.!
Como se comunicó la semana pasada, hoy a las 3:00 pm es la hora límite para cambiar el estatus “Pendiente”. Nuestro personal cambiará esas calificaciones de Pendiente a trabajo completado o faltante. Esperamos que tenga un impacto positivo para la mayoría de los estudiantes. En caso de que el trabajo faltante no se haya hecho, se cambiarán a estatus “M” o faltante y se le darán ceros. Estos cambios impactarán negativamente la calificación del estudiante. Por favor permita que nuestro personal califique estos trabajos entregados y actualicen FACTS. Los estudiantes no serán sujetos a la política de trabajo entregado tarde y todos los trabajos tendrán crédito completo. Como recordatorio esta política no aplica para clases de crédito dual.
Nota de nuestros pastores – Planes Espirituales para el Verano
Normalmente en esta época del año, estamos pensando en los planes para el verano. Muchos ya han empezado a llenar el calendario con torneos esperanzadores, vacaciones y otros paseos. El Padre Dave y el Padre Joe piden a los jóvenes de nuestra parroquia que permanezcan conectados con sus vidas espirituales con el Señor que nos ha dado a cada uno de nosotros talentos y habilidades para hacer todas las otras cosas en las que participarán en el verano. Así que los alentamos a tomarse unos días y ver cómo el Señor permitirá que todo lo demás se ajuste también al calendario. Ni nuestros jóvenes, sus padres o sacerdotes superarán a Dios en su generosidad. Los eventos de verano de la oficina del ministerio juvenil diocesano ofrece algo para casi cada tipo de personalidad. Revise cada uno de estos eventos en su propio enlace, luego lo alentamos a registrar a sus jóvenes en uno o más de ellos.
Totus Tuus: del 21 al 26 de junio; Parroquia de San Vicente de Paul. Estudiantes universitarios son maestros de la fe que ofrecen una amplia escuela de biblia de vacaciones para estudiantes de primaria durante el día y tardes divertidas llenas de fe y energía para los estudiantes de secundaria/bachillerato ¡En Totus Tuus: cada noche el número de participantes se incrementa debido a lo grandiosas que son! https://diojeffcity.org/
Campamento Maccabee: del 28 de junio al 3 de julio O del 26 al 31 de julio; Base en San Roberto Bellarmine, St Robert, en MO. El campamento de los Maccabee fue fundado en 2009 con el propósito de formar líderes masculinos audaces y católicos. Desde entonces el campamento ha evolucionado a un evento de verano muy esperado por muchos jóvenes varones católicos (grados 9-12) a lo largo de la Diócesis de Jefferson City. https://diojeffcity.org/
CHRISTPower: del 12 al 18 de julio; Base en la Escuela Preparatoria Católica Helias. Un servicio de retiro auténticamente católico para quienes estaban en preparatoria (high school) en el ciclo escolar 2019-2020 para incrementar la relación con Jesucristo y su iglesia. Durante el día, los participantes son enviados en equipos a servir a una variedad de agencias de servicio social y sin fines de lucro alrededor de Jefferson City. ¡En la tarde, los participantes regresan para comer, convivir y para noches dinámicas llenas de juegos, charlas, alabanzas, sacramento y más! https://diojeffcity.org/
Campamento Siena: Del 19 al 23 de julio; Base en San Patricio en Laurie. El campamento Siena es una experiencia de campamento de verano comprometida para ayuda a las mujeres jóvenes católicas (grados 9-12) a profundizar su relación con Dios y con los demás al ejercitar, comprender y vivir la espiritualidad femenina única y convertirse en la mujer que Dios las llama a ser. https://diojeffcity.org/

Rasgos Sobresalientes de los Seniors
Martha Angel
Martha asistirá al SFCC en el otoño. Ella se especializará en Justicia Criminal. Cuando Martha termine sus estudios en State Fair continuará su educación en una universidad de 4 años. Martha dice que para ella es importante continuar en una institución católica privada .
Martha dice que extrañará ver a sus compañeros. Ha sido difícil que se acortara el tiempo juntos a causa de la pandemia. Ella siente que está preparada para la universidad habiendo asistido al Sagrado Corazón. Ella aprecia las altas expectativas de la escuela y cómo la impulsaron para tener éxito. Martha ha ganado horas crédito asistiendo al programa CTC de SFCC para Justicia Criminal y también 6 horas crédito universitarias en Sagrado Corazón..
Grace Goodwin
Grace está indecisa sobre la universidad. Ha elegido Farmacología como carrera. Está interesada en el campo médico. Ella considera que farmacologia le dará la experiencia que busca sin tener que estar de guardia o trabajar turnos de 12 horas. Grace dijo que extrañará jugar baloncesto para el Sagrado Corazón y espera con ansias jugar en la universidad. También extrañará las bromas divertidas con la Srita. McMullin y con Eddie durante la clase. Grace dijo que se siente preparada para la universidad. Ella cree que el Sagrado Corazón le ha inculcado una gran ética de trabajo para ayudarla a tener éxito. No considera que estará nostálgica y se siente lista para la vida en el dormitorio universitario. Grace dijo que ha dominado el lavar la ropa y ha estado perfeccionando sus habilidades de cocina. ¡Desde que ha estado en casa, ha preparado la cena para todos!
Zaine Dover
Zaine irá al SFCC en el otoño. El ha elegido Historia como su carrera. Zaine dijo que siempre le ha fascinado la historia y cómo hemos evolucionado. Zaine extrañará ver a sus amigos todos los días y practicar deportes con ellos. Zaine dijo que está acostumbrado a trabajar arduamente puesto que esa es una expectativa inculcada por los maestros del Sagrado Corazón. El planea quedarse a vivir en casa mientras asiste a SFCC. ¡Después de eso, se irá a Truman State!
Programa SCRIP ahora con Más Flexibilidad
Hay algunos cambios emocionantes en el programa Scrip. A partir de hoy los reembolsos de Scrip se pagarán una vez por año en el mes de Febrero. Cuando los reembolsos se paguen usted tendrá la flexibilidad de usarlos para su colegiatura escolar del año en curso o para la colegiatura escolar del siguiente año o si su colegiatura ya está pagada en su totalidad, puede usarlo para pagar otras cuotas escolares. Esto le da más flexibilidad para usar sus reembolsos de la mejor manera para cubrir las necesidades de su familia. Vea el documento anexo sobre la política actualizada del programa.
Todas los pedidos al 16 de abril ya sea en casa (oficina escolar) o electrónicas se destinarán al año escolar 2020/2021. Visite la oficina escolar de lunes a viernes de 8 am – al mediodía para comprar de entre nuestr amplia selección de tarjetas físicas. Tenemos varios negocios que SOLAMENTE están disponibles mediante la oficina escolar (ejemplo. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens y VISA por mencionar algunos).
