From the Heart – A message from our Administrator

From the Heart – Tuesday, April 7, 2020
Dear SHS alumni and friends,
I continue to be overwhelmed by the Sacred Heart family spirit I’ve witnessed during this historic time. While we’re navigating through unprecedented times, academic excellence has not faltered. I’m proud to share that our faculty and staff quickly transitioned to distance learning. The syllabus for most classes is on pace with where we should be at the end of the school year! As a valued member of our school family, we celebrate with a grateful heart this exceptional feat with you because your support is essential to putting the best educators and resources in place to provide quality, Catholic education to our students. Thank you.
We are making the most of the current situation but look forward to gathering once again as a parish and school family. Let’s practice physical distancing, but not social distancing! Please connect with us via Facebook. In addition to the prayers we lift up for our SH family, a wealth of spiritual resources and ways to get involved are just a click away. Visit St. Vincent de Paul Sedalia via Facebook and YouTube for live-feed prayers and devotions, including daily Mass, adoration, and stations of the cross.
After the healthcare industry and the effective spread of the Gospel, we find very few pursuits more essential than the effective education of our nation’s children. We appreciate those of you who have asked how you might best support Sacred Heart during this time. Your ongoing tithe to St. Vincent de Paul Parish and your gift to our Sacred Heart School Foundation Annual Fund Drive (which we plan to publically kickoff this summer) are the most critical ways you can help.
While times in our world may be uncertain, we trust in Gods plan and in His mercy as we walk faithfully onward in our vision of Extraordinary Catholic Education. Through Christ. For All.
Have a blessed Holy Week.

Preparing the Home
Holy Thursday is the birth of the Eucharist!  The altar in our church should always look like a table and strong and sturdy enough an animal could be butchered without crushing the table. Jesus prepares the meal at the table and the meal is himself who was the lamb that was slain for us and for our sins.  Spend some time decorating a table for a meal for royalty…in God’s eyes, we are all royalty. He sends his Son for us!
Why is it Good Friday if Jesus dies on the cross?  Because of what his death on the cross does for you and me!! His death becomes our gateway into Heaven that was sealed off from us until this moment of Jesus’ death on the cross.  On Good Friday, we venerate the cross. So, get a crucifix in your home and make it the centerpiece of a shrine in your home.
Easter Vigil is the Holiest of Holy nights!  This is the night we hear our entire salvation history.  How do I participate in this if I am not able to get to the Mass?  While we have a shared salvation history, the history we hear proclaimed in the nine readings at Mass; we each have a history with our Lord as well.  Each one in the family has a history with the Lord. Sit together before the Vigil and share your own favorite family stories. Then, join in with us.
Easter Sunday! Here we are!  We will be separate, but everyone can get dressed up in their Easter best and then take a selfie of your family in a nice part of the house or outside with a nice background scene… and… share your family selfie Easter Sunday family portrait with us on our Facebook page!   Don’t forget to join in with your parish family on the Live-stream celebrations. We can still do this together. Let us celebrate… differently… and let us celebrate well!
