I sincerely hope everyone has enjoyed a peaceful and relaxing Christmas break and now you are ready to hit 2nd-semester full speed ahead!

We are very happy to announce that ‘Follow the Star’ concert has been rescheduled!  This wonderful event will serve as a very fitting conclusion to the Christmas Season.  The concert, featuring our junior high and high school choirs and band, will take place on Sunday evening, January 12 @ 6:30 pm in the Sacred Heart Chapel.  Please join us and bring the kids.  I am confident that you will be glad that you did.

There are several more items of general information in today’s Beat that should be helpful in getting ready to get back to school on Monday morning.

Freshman Orientation and Open House

This event is designed for incoming freshmen (SHS Class of 2024!)  Please come and feel free to invite anyone you think might be interested in more information about the Sacred Heart High School experience!

We are employing an interesting new format and I think you will enjoy it!

Enrollment for 2020-2021

The enrollment process for 2020-2021 is well underway and some soft deadlines are approaching.  Many of you have already completed this and we are appreciative.

Here are a few reminders:

• All families are using the 2018 tax returns to complete the application.

• All families meeting the early bird incentive of January 8, 2020 (next Wednesday!) will have the $35 FACTS application fee deducted from their registration fees.

• Registration fees at the time of enrollment will remain $100 per student with no family to pay more than $250.  These non-refundable fees are applied to the 2020-2021 tuition.

• To be eligible for named scholarships the FACTS Aid and Award application must be submitted by January 8, 2020 (next Wednesday!).

• The cost to educate a student will remain the same for 2020-2021.

• Every family that completes the FACTS Aid & Award application will receive some level of assistance based on their individual situation.

Please remember that the primary purpose of moving the timeline up into January is to allow us to be the best possible stewards of the resources we have to effectively educate our students.  Having a good handle on enrollment numbers prior to offering teacher contracts for the 2020-2021 school year will allow us to better accomplish this.(this occurs in March each year).

Since salaries and benefits have, by far, the greatest impact on our budget we hope to make sure that our staffing accurately and efficiently meets the needs of our students and families.

This timeline should also help us be proactive when we see that we have teacher needs to fill, allowing us to recruit and attain the best teaching talent possible for our students.

We also hope that this helps each of you as you plan for your household budgets moving forward.

Some really exciting things are happening at SHS.  We look forward to continuing to serve you and your children!

Ringing in the New Year with SCRIP!

2020 is here, right now is a GREAT time to start using SCRIP to save on tuition.  Make using SCRIP part of your New Year’s resolution!  All orders placed now through the end of April will be applied to the 2020 spring semester tuition.

Our next in house order will be Tuesday, January 7th.  All orders submitted by 3 pm should be ready for pick-up by Wednesday, January 15th.  Please feel free to stop by the school office Monday through Friday from 8 am – 3 pm to shop from our great selection of physical gift cards.

We have several retailers ONLY available through the office (i.e. Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens, and VISA to name a few).  If you can’t make it into the office during the day, look for our table after Masses the weekend of January 4th at St. Patrick’s.

Varsity Girls & Boys Basketball Home Opener

We have a great night of high school basketball on tap Monday evening!  The varsity girls and varsity & JV boys play their home opener on Monday night, January 6.

The Otterville Eagles are here to take on the girls in a 5:00 pm start.  After that, the Lincoln Cardinals are here to face the boys in an important Kaysinger Conference matchup.  The JV tips off about 6:15 followed by varsity basketball action.

MIDWEST MARCH FOR LIFE 2020

YOU ARE INVITED TO THE MIDWEST MARCH FOR LIFE 2020.  The Tenth MidWest March To Honor and Glorify Jesus and Defend Innocent Life will be held Saturday, Feb. 1, beginning at St Peter Selinger Expo Hall opening at 7:45 am, pre-rally at 9:30 am, March at 10 am and Rally with keynote David Bereit at 10:45 am in the State Rotunda.

¡Saludos Familias y Amigos del SHS!

¡Deseo de todo corazón que hayan disfrutado  de unas vacaciones de navidad tranquilas y relajadas y que ahora se encuentren listos para iniciar el 2o semestre a toda velocidad!

¡Estamos felices de anunciar que el concierto de Sigue la Estrella (Follow the Star) se ha reprogramado!  Este evento maravilloso servirá como una muy buena conclusión de la temporada navideña.  El concierto, que contará con la presentación de los coros y banda de junior high y high school se realizará el domingo 12 de enero a las 6:30 en la Capilla del Sagrado Corazón.  Por favor acompáñenos y traiga  a los niños. Estoy seguro que se alegrará de hacerlo.

En el Beat de hoy hay varios aspectos de interés general que le serán útiles al prepararse para regresar a clases el lunes por la mañana.

Orientación y Open House para los futuros alumnos de 9o grado (Freshman)

Este evento está diseñado para los futuros alumnos de 9o grado “Freshman” (Generación del 2024) Por favor venga y tenga la libertad de invitar a cualquier persona que usted crea que pudiera estar interesado en mayor información sobre la experiencia de Bachillerato de la Escuela del Sagrado Corazón!

¡Estaremos utilizando un interesante formato nuevo y creo que lo disfrutará!

El evento será el miércoles 8 de enero del 2020 de 5:30 a 7:15 pm en las Áreas Comunes del SH. De 5:30 a 6:00 pm será la  recepción para estudiantes y familias. De 6:00 a 6:15 pm discurso de los administradores. De 6:15 a 7:15 grupos de trabajo con los Seniors (alumnos de 12o grado) que se graduarán en 2020. Todos los estudiantes que planeen asistir al Sagrado Corazón como Freshman (alumnos de 9o grado) en el otoño, están alentados a asistir a este evento con sus padres o tutores.

Inscripción para el 2020-2021

El proceso de inscripción para el 2020-2021  está en marcha y algunas de las fechas límite se están aproximando. Muchos de ustedes ya lo han completado  y estamos muy agradecidos.

He aquí algunos recordatorios:

• Todas las familias utilizarán las declaraciones de impuestos del 2018 para completar la aplicación.

• A todas las familias que cumplan el incentivo de llenar su aplicación a más tardar el 8 de enero de 2020 (próximo miércoles) se les deducirá su cuota de $35 de aplicación de FACTS de sus cuotas de inscripción.

• Las cuotas de registro que se pagan al momento de la inscripción  permanecerán en $100 por estudiante sin que ninguna familia pague más de $250.  Estas cuotas no reembolsables se aplicarán a la colegiatura del 2020-2021.

• Para ser elegible para las becas establecidas la aplicación de asistencia financiera de FACTS debe ser enviada a más tardar el 8 de enero de 2020 (¡próximo miércoles!).

• El costo de educar a un estudiante permanecerá igual para el 2020-2021.

• Cada familia que complete la aplicación de asistencia financiera de  FACTS recibirá algún nivel de asistencia con base en la situación individual.

Por favor recuerde que el propósito principal de mover las fechas del proceso a enero es permitirnos ser los mejores administradores posibles de los recursos que tenemos para educar eficientemente a nuestros estudiantes. Tener un buen manejo de los números de inscripción antes de ofrecer los contratos a los maestros para el ciclo escolar  2020-2021 nos permitirá lograr esto. (esto ocurre cada año en marzo)

Puesto que los salarios y beneficios tienen por mucho el mayor impacto en nuestro presupuesto esperamos asegurarnos que nuestro personal cubre eficiente y exactamente las necesidades de nuestros estudiantes y familias.

Estas nuevas fechas del proceso deberán también ayudarnos a ser proactivos cuando veamos que necesitamos maestros, permitiéndonos reclutar y atraer al mejor talento docente posible para nuestros estudiantes.

También esperamos que esto les ayude mientras hacen los presupuestos de su hogar para el futuro.

Están pasando algunas cosas emocionantes en SHS. ¡Esperamos continuar sirviéndole a usted y a sus hijos!

¡Resonando en el Año Nuevo con SCRIP!

El 2020 está aquí, ahora es un GRAN momento para empezar a usar SCRIP para ahorrar en colegiatura.  ¡Haga el utilizar SCRIP parte de sus resoluciones de Año Nuevo! Todos los pedidos hechos desde ahora y hasta el final de abril se aplicarán a la colegiatura del semestre de primavera del 2020.

Nuestro próximo pedido de la casa (oficina escolar) será el martes 7 de enero. Todos los pedidos realizados para las 3 pm deberán estar listos para recogerse el miércoles 15 de enero.  Por favor tenga la libertad de pasar por la oficina escolar de lunes a viernes de 8am – 3pm para comprar de entre nuestra gran selección de tarjetas de regalo.

Tenemos tarjetas de varios establecimientos que SOLAMENTE están disponibles mediante la oficina (ejemplo Casey’s, Cenex, Shell, Colton’s, McD, Taco Bell, Walgreens y  VISA por mencionar algunas). Si no puede venir a la oficina durante el día, busque nuestra mesa de venta de tarjetas después de las misas del fin de semana del 4 de enero en San Patricio.

Primer Juego en Casa de Baloncesto Femenil y Varonil Categoría Varsity 

¡Tendremos una gran noche de baloncesto de nivel bachillerato el lunes por la noche! Las chicas categoría varsity y los chicos categorías varsity y JV jugarán su primer juego en casa el lunes 6 de enero por la noche.

Las Águilas de Otterville estarán aquí para enfrentar a las chicas a las  5:00pm.  Después de esto, los Cardenales de Lincoln enfrentarán a los chicos en un importante encuentro de la Conferencia Kaysinger. La categoría JV iniciará apróximadamente a las 6:15 seguido de acción de baloncesto categoría varsity.

MARCHA POR LA VIDA DEL MEDIO OESTE 2020

ESTÁ INVITADO A LA MARCHA POR LA VIDA DEL MEDIO OESTE 2020. La décima Marcha del Medio Oeste para Honrar y Glorificar a Jesús y Defender la Vida Inocente se llevará a cabo el sábado 1 de febrero comenzando en  St Peter Selinger Expo Hall  a las 7:45 am, pre rally a las 9:30 am, marcha a las 10 am y Rally con David Bereit  a las 10:45 am en la Rotonda Estatal.
