SUMMARY:Las Posadas
DESCRIPTION:Las Posadas (The Inns in Spanish) is a traditional celebration that takes place 9 days before Christmas\, that is\, from December 16 to 24. Each of the nine days represents a value such as humility\, strength\, detachment\, charity\, trust\, justice\, purity\, joy\, and generosity.\nChildren and adults go out on the streets to make the “pilgrimage” that consists of visiting 9 houses -one per day- until they find the house where they are staying. The pilgrims follow a statue known as a “mystery” that can be the figure of Mary\, Joseph\, an angel\, or a donkey\, also accompanied by popular songs and prayers.\nFinally\, the hosts offer punch\, drinks\, fruits\, and a bag with sweets and peanuts called “colación.” At the end of the event\, the traditional seven-cornered piñata is broken.
