Message from Fr. Mark Miller to Parents:
As I said at the Open House at the beginning of the school year, we are here to assist and help in the education of your children even though you are the primary educators, especially in the passing on of the faith. We have just passed out church envelops to all our students and are encouraging them to use those envelops to make an “offering” each Sunday when they go to Church. These “offerings” can be in the form of money or good deeds or prayers for others. The envelopes are meant to “wrap our offering” and place it in the collection basket as it comes around during Mass or Church service.
However, for our children to properly use these envelopes, they must come to Church on Sunday. I realize that there are many choices as to when someone might go to Church on Sunday but I don’t see a lot of our children on a Sunday morning or Saturday evening. Our teachers, in teaching the Ten Commandments, remind our students that God expects us to attend Church on Sunday as a way of keeping the Sabbath holy; remember the Third Commandment. It really pains me to hear our younger children confess the sin of not coming to Church on Sunday even though I know it is not their fault or decision.
I am urging all you parents to get into the habit of coming to Church on Sunday with your children, not only for the sake of your children but of realizing the blessings that come to families when they worship together with the rest of the faith community.
