Misson & Information

The Sacred Heart Chapter of the National Honor Society serves to create enthusiasm for scholarship, to stimulate a desire to render service, to promote leadership, and to develop character in the students of Sacred Heart High School.

The Sacred Heart NHS coordinates several service projects throughout the year.  These include the annual Christmas Eve dinner for the elderly and disabled, adopt-a-highway activities, service at the Community Café, and recycling of printer/toner cartridges and aluminum cans.

This year our chapter has decided to "adopt" our local animal shelter.  Activities will include a dress-down day where funds raised will go toward meeting the needs of the shelter.  Students will conduct a "supply drive" to gather materials needed for the comforts of the animal residents.

Money used by the Chapter is raised through collection of dues ($7.00 per year), recycling programs, and working at the annual math contest.

Members are required to participate in the following:

  • Fall & Spring adopt-a-highway dates -
  • Christmas Eve Dinner - December 24th
  • Math Contest
  • Community Café
  • Athletic Game Tickets
  • Ring Bells for Salvation Army during holidays
  • Theme project activities
  • Monthly meetings
  • Induction
  • Active service on a committee

Donations are accepted year-round toward purchase of materials/supplies for the Christmas Eve Dinner.  Money may be sent to the school office with a note indicating the purpose of the donations.

Donations of printer / toner cartridges and aluminum cans  will also be accepted year round.

The National Honor Society of Sacred Heart meets in Mrs. Hagebusch's room during lunch on the first Wednesday of each month.
