Interesting Tidbits

 

Sacred Heart High School is a predominately college prep institution, providing an atmosphere and learning environment that is safe and secure.  Furthermore, the atmosphere is such that academic success is the norm.  Since 1994 more than 90% of our students have gone on to seek post-secondary education upon completion of their course work at Sacred Heart.

 

Sacred Heart High School works very hard to assist our students in the process of preparation for college.  This is not only in regard to academic preparation, but financial as well.  In the past 4 years SHHS has graduated a total of 124 students who among them have amassed more than $2.2 million in scholarships and awards.

 

Sacred Heart High School offers numerous dual credit courses.  Approximately 1/4th of Sacred Heart High School students are now graduating having earned a semester (or more) of college credit.  Of the 124 members of the classes of 2007 through 2010, 95 enrolled in one or more dual credit classes amassing a total of more than 1,500 college hours while enrolled at Sacred Heart High School. 

 

Of the 27 students in the SHHS Class of 2010, 15 completed the requirements of qualification for the College Preparatory Studies Certificate offered by the Missouri State Board of Education.  These 15 students (56% of the class) had an average ACT score of 26.1 placing them on the 86th %ile nationally.  The class as a whole had an average ACT score of 23.5 placing them on the 72nd %ile nationally. 

 

Sacred Heart High School offers numerous extra-curricular opportunities with a great deal of success. 


For example:

  1. Sacred Heart High School currently has 130 students enrolled.  Of those 130 ... approximately 85% (110 of 130) will participate in one or more extracurricular programs this year.  There truly is to be something for everybody at SHHS.
  2. At this time we do not cut from our extra-curricular programs.  All students who are willing to meet the demands of a given team or group are allowed the opportunity to be part of that program.
  3. Sacred Heart High School performs a full musical each spring on the stage of the Liberty Center. 

    Productions include:           
    -          Oliver -           Cinderella  
    -          Disney's 'High School Musical'
    		-           The Boyfriend  
    -          Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat -           Bye-Bye Birdie  
    -          Fiddler on the Roof
    		-           Godspell (1998 & 2007)  
    -          The Sound of Music
    		-           The Princess and the Pea  
    -          Calamity Jane
    		-           A Year With Frog & Toad  
  4. From 2005 through the present Sacred Heart High School competed in 22 interscholastic mathematics competitions.  The team has taken 10 first place finishes and never finished lower than 3rd place. SHHS is the Kaysinger Conference Champions for 2009 and 2010.
  5. Sacred Heart students compete in district speech and music contests, with students earning the right to move on to state competitions each year.  In the spring of 2010, Senior Victoria Kees competed at State Speech.
  6. Since 2005 thirty-one SHHS graduates have signed national letters of intent or successfully walked on to participate in collegiate athletic programs.
  7. Sacred Heart High School has a state caliber boy's soccer program.

    8.  -  Ranked (or mentioned) in the top 10 in the state Class 1 in four of the past six seasons

     -  *31 SH players have been named to the All-State team at some level since the 2000 season

  9. State recognized golf programs (Class 1)

    10. -  SHHS won the district title in 2009 and finished 2nd in the state in 2007 and 2009.


    CLASS 1 STATE GOLF CHAMPION in the 2010 SEASON

    -  Boy's team has won the conference title in seven of the eight years golf has been recognized as a conference sport.

  10. Boys basketball

    11. -  5 district and 4 conference titles in the past 8 seasons

    -  Boys have won 20 games or more in five of the last seven seasons with an overall record of 153 - 38.

  11. Boys Baseball - District Champions in 2006, 2007 and 2010

    12. CLASS 1 STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONS in 2006

  12. Sacred Heart High School has won OVER 50 MSHSAA District and Kaysinger Conference championships since the fall of 2000.

Sacred Heart High School also possesses the unique capability to weave the spiritual aspect into daily life.  Our campus minister works hard to enhance student activities and opportunities.  Church and faith are an integral part of healthy adult life.  So should they play an indispensable role in the life of teens as well!
